Beast Taming: the More the Better Chapter 817 - 353: The Oppression of Water Venerable! Qian Yi’s Sword Intent! (Part 2)
Previously on Beast Taming: the More the Better...
Instantly, Su Ping sensed himself thrust into a frozen cavern.
He clenched his lips tightly.
Indeed, he recognized the truth in the opponent's words.
Given the sharp senses of Ray Saint and Mirror Saint, they would have rushed over immediately if anything was detected; if the foe intended to conceal it, they would remain completely unaware.
So, was he to simply hand over Little Flame now?
Su Ping wrinkled his brow deeply, brimming with reluctance and defiance!
Though Little Flame's attitude toward him stayed quite hostile.
Resistant as it was to serving as his fourth pet beast, after the Little Crow incident and the prior True Flame Soup, Su Ping had already regarded this little one as kin.
To betray his family by surrendering it—no way was Su Ping willing, under any circumstances.
Similar to the Sword King’s secret realm, when the little paperman faced imminent seizure, Su Ping bit his lips before hastily forcing a faintly pleading smile:
"Lord Water Venerate, this Fire Venerate’s avatar has ended up in this state. If you wish, I can rally my resources to aid your search, alright? As for Little Flame? It’s just a failed split product, but you, Lord, with your magnanimity, how about it?
Not to mention, I hold some status in the Dragon Nation. If you target me, aside from other issues, operating freely in the Dragon Nation could turn troublesome—isn’t it needless to let this trifle delay your grand plan?"
Silence.
The nearly bare-chested silhouette fell quiet once more.
The eerie blue eyeshadows under matching blue pupils fixed silently on Su Ping, while the air's temperature plummeted at a shocking rate, the frigid air even birthing cold mist across the Heart of Water’s lake surface.
"Hiss hiss..."
Little Flame 'glanced' at Su Ping; after its advancement, its intelligence had surged dramatically, as though grasping the intent behind Su Ping’s words.
Yet the bone-piercing cold locked Su Ping in place, and in a mere instant, the lingering water beads on his skin frosted into delicate ice flowers, even riming his eyelashes with white.
But shortly, a chilly gale swept through, scattering much of the frost from Su Ping.
Water Venerate shifted his gaze, arching a brow faintly.
Across the nearby lake, the extending branches lay veiled in icy fog, the cold radiating from that figure alone.
Meanwhile, along the Heart of Water’s shore, shadowy figures flickered indistinctly under the moonlight.
These were the countless plant-type pet beasts from Forest Heart. Su Ping realized—King Gunpine commanded Forest Heart, able to survey all within Heart of Myriad Spirits, surely detecting the disturbance and alerting them via Sky-reaching Vine.
Beyond that, urgent footsteps thundered as Old Sha and several Forest Wolves lingering in Heart of Woods rushed over.
However, no humans arrived apart from the pet beasts.
That was predictable. Mirror Saint and Ray Saint positioned themselves at the far side of Heart of Myriad Spirits, one in Heart of Soul, the other in Heart of Dream Experience Hall. Sky-reaching Vine had stretched to its utmost.
Su Ping creased his forehead sharply.
Water Venerate showed no concern whatsoever, merely eyeing the arriving Heart of Myriad Spirits pet beasts with keen fascination.
At last, Water Venerate spoke anew:
"Little one, you think far too highly of yourself and your Dragon Nation alike. It’s but a human realm. Even if I slay you before retreating to the Eastern Sea’s Endless Sea Domain, what worth has your so-called status?"
An ant aspiring to haggle with me? Does this peculiar era and tranquil land foster such boldness in you? In my time, even a fleeting glance at scum like you would count as supreme fortune.
Or do you fancy these pests could harm me?"
The figure swept a disdainful gaze over the assembly, evidently viewing them as worthless.
Su Ping stayed silent; for the first time ever, his teeth nipped lightly into his lip.
"Enough, my patience wears thin. One final warning: surrender the Fire Venerate’s avatar!"
The voice's growing impatience signaled its breaking point.
This moment evoked those overwrought tragic soaps, where side characters menace the fated leads.
Yet reality offers no idol drama escape; such crushing pressure dwarfed anything Su Ping endured across his two lives.
At this instant, it felt as if the whole Heart of Myriad Spirits watched Su Ping intently.
Countless voices appeared to whisper:
"After all, Little Flame isn’t your soul contracted beast yet—why cling so stubbornly?"
"From its prior defiance, it’ll never submit to you or form a soul contract. Such persistence lacks purpose."
"What outweighs your own life?"
"Don’t waste time..."
These voices echoed relentlessly in Su Ping’s ears and heart's depths.
He was just a fortunate beast tamer, but armed with the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas, his path promised immense power as a beast tamer—postponing revenge wouldn’t be too late, right?
Legendary level? Surely not utterly unattainable, eh?
