Yet right at that instant, a strange flicker appeared in the Water Dragon’s eyes.
Moments later, an ethereal screen made of flowing water materialized in front of it within the Dragon Palace:
Simultaneously, a voice echoed from this unique screen:
"Old Sea Master!"
"Hmm? Little Meng Yao? Weren’t you in Jianghai? Have you come back to Dragon City? Haha, perfect timing—I’ve got some great news for you."
This time, the Water Dragon’s projection switched from Serpentine script to the Dragon Nation tongue.
Against that certain individual, no alternative existed; the Dragon Nation language would leave it vulnerable to the foe’s Words Become Law, turning it into an unwitting servant.
But with Meng Yao of the Four Seas Dragon Palace, such concerns vanished.
"I have fantastic news for you as well!"
The excited tone from Ray Saint on the screen’s other end made the Water Dragon’s projection halt briefly in astonishment:
"Oh? What’s the news?"
"A fresh advancement has occurred in the Rainbow Dragon’s evolution research!"
Those words from Meng Yao caused the Sea Dragon King to freeze once more: "Rainbow Dragon?"
How could any headway have been made with that?
It knew full well about the Rainbow Coral Worm and the Rainbow Dragon.
Back at the Dragon Gate’s early trials, the creature’s Dragon Gene was discovered, allowing potential Dragon Transformation via evolution, and as a scarce Water Element and Light System dual-attribute being, it had stirred major excitement.
It had even joined numerous prior Rainbow Dragon evolution experiments personally.
Regrettably, the outcomes proved disappointing.
Vast resources went into securing over a dozen Rainbow Coral Worms, but none displayed Dragon Transformation potential.
Yet now Meng Yao claimed external Rainbow Dragon evolution research had progressed—while Dragon City saw zero results?
What utter rubbish!
"What rubbish are you talking about? There aren’t many of those outside, much less evolving into a Dragon Transformation one. If it were so easy, the Breeder Association folks would’ve done it long ago."
The Water Dragon’s projection snapped irritably.
"It’s real! This person holds the Dragon Emblem, qualifying for Dragon City entry, Dragon Pet selection, and Dragon inheritance! Old Sea Master, we mustn’t let this talent escape!"
Ray Saint’s declaration snapped the Sea Dragon King to attention.
Was this fun-loving rascal truly serious, not pranking it?
Suddenly, it shelved talk of Nie Chuan’s Soul of the Hanhai Whale and pressed:
"Tell me precisely what happened."
"Recall Su Ping? His family had a Rainbow Coral Worm. After I checked it out, I shared Dragon Palace cultivation methods with them. Astonishingly, in just over half a month,
he developed a novel Rainbow Coral Worm evolution, and I sense this form has better odds of becoming a Rainbow Dragon than Dragon City’s versions!"
Ray Saint’s words rushed out swiftly.
"Su Ping..."
The Sea Dragon King pondered briefly before responding:
"The youth Zhu Hong requested approval for, the youngest Dragon Emblem bearer? The one fated by that Burial Ground Old Ghost?"
"Exactly! Su Ping excels not just in ordinary Pet Beast cultivation but shines equally in Dragon Pet development!"
Ray Saint affirmed promptly.
The Sea Dragon King’s brows knitted together:
"That kid’s unaware, but plenty in Dragon City watch him closely. Didn’t you say he’s keen on Jade Dreamland last time?
Dragon Emblem holders entering Dragon City differ from Beast Tamers awarded Dragon Pets for Dragon Nation feats. We can’t compel them here.
Anyway, how did the kid evolve it, and what form did the Pet Beast assume?"
It overlooked Ray Saint sharing Four Seas Dragon Palace Pet Beast cultivation externally.
Meng Yao acted thoughtfully, and Rainbow Dragon evolution work had been largely shelved by the Four Seas Dragon Palace anyway—not vital.
This made Su Ping’s solo new evolutionary form all the more intriguing to the Sea Dragon King.
Next, it detailed for the Sea Dragon King Su Ping’s prior Rainbow Lucid Butterfly evolution and his theory on Dragon City’s Rainbow Coral Worm failures.
As expected, these revelations left the Four Seas Dragon Palace’s Dragon King somewhat baffled.
Yet without doubt, succeeding with the Rainbow Dragon would revive a fresh special Dragon Breed in the Four Seas Dragon Palace legacy!
Its importance was colossal.
Thus, the Dragon City Four Seas Dragon Palace’s Dragon King boomed with renewed vigor:
"Excellent! Meng Yao, you’re in charge now! We absolutely cannot lose a prime Breeder for our Four Seas Dragon Palace Dragon Pets! Contact me anytime for aid or resources..."
"Got it!"
He set aside the special communicator.
Ray Saint let out a deep sigh of relief.
With a mental command, he called forth his Water Dragon, ’Shangshan’:
"Ah Shan, Su Ping takes a liking to you, and you’re the handsomest Water Dragon in our Four Seas Dragon Palace. Stay out here these days; he’ll likely watch the Rainbow Lucid Butterfly a bit,
so endure a little and frolic with him in the water safely. Perhaps he’ll fancy a Water Dragon because of it? Clear?"
"Roar!" Water Dragon Shangshan glared furiously; it was the future Dragon King! The Four Seas Dragon Palace’s coming mainstay.
Wasn’t this humiliating its pride?!
Order from its master or not, it refused outright!
Still, Ray Saint had foreseen this pet’s obstinacy,
so he halted before adding:
"This comes straight from Old Sea Master!"
Water Dragon Shangshan ignored it; Old Sea Master be damned! Even Holy Dragon Legend couldn’t force it to debase itself for a human!
No way!
But instantly, Ray Saint pressed on:
"Ah Shan, Old Sea Master is our Four Seas Dragon Palace Ice Dragon King’s blood kin and Soul Father."
Water Dragon Shangshan froze: "Huh?"
Ice Dragon King? Which one?
"What other Ice Dragon King exists in our Four Seas Dragon Palace? And across today’s Dragon City, ’Ice Dragon King’ points straight to ours, right?"
Though the fame wasn’t exactly glorious.
Ray Saint grinned as he spoke.
In a flash, the defiant Water Dragon gulped hard, eyes widening in deep blue realization.
Ten minutes on, the drained Water Dragon Shangshan trailed Ray Saint back to Su Ping, who crouched by the Heart of Water.
Su Ping eyed them: "Business done?"
Ray Saint nodded:
"Yes, the Dragon King’s thrilled by your Rainbow Dragon research find, Su Ping. As thanks, want me to upgrade your Heart of Water now? You can observe Ah Shan too, helping your next Rainbow Dragon evolution step."
With that, he slapped Water Dragon Shangshan’s side; it promptly roared in agreement, feigning great enthusiasm.
Su Ping’s eyes sparkled at the offer.
