Beast Taming: the More the Better Chapter 795 - 346 Perfecting the First Stage of Rainbow Dragon’s Cultivation Method!
"So that’s the reality of it." Even though Su Ping had previously contemplated the matter, he never imagined that the Wolf King Majesty was something an ordinary Pet Beast could naturally exhibit. Yet, upon hearing Su Anyong’s explanation, he found himself utterly stunned.
Su Anyong pressed on, "Years ago, when the old man kept Old Sha close, he desperately tried to evolve a few standard Forest Wolves, but every attempt met with failure. Even though Old Sha lacked any discernible Sky Wolf Bloodline, evolving common Forest Wolves was an arduous task. It never crossed my mind that you, of all people, would actually pull it off."
It was clear that even now, the feat seemed impossible to Su Anyong. Su Ping finally understood, albeit a bit late, that Old Sha’s successful evolution was truly sparked by a stroke of fortune. Nonetheless, the primary factor was undoubtedly the innate potential of the Wanmu Wolf Evolutionary Body itself.
Su Ping reflected briefly.
"Don't be ridiculous," Su Anyong remarked. "It remains a mystery if Old Sha’s intelligence—which far exceeds that of a typical Forest Wolf—is a result of his lineage. Initially, the old man hoped to form a Soul Contract with Old Sha, but the beast refused, especially after multiple failed attempts at evolution. Old Sha didn’t want to be an anchor for the old man’s future, yet he refused to leave his side. As a Pet Beast, a creature that is so self-deprecating clearly remembers his own difficult upbringing."
Su Anyong felt a wave of sentimentality. To both Su Ping and Su Anyong, Old Sha was not just a beast, but a true member of the family who had remained steadfast throughout their history.
These memories caused Su Ping to fall into a contemplative silence. After a long moment, he finally inquired, "What is the current state of affairs within the Wolf Country?"
The vast Great Prairie and the desolate reach of the Vast Sea Desert formed the western perimeter of the Dragon Nation. These barren, forbidden territories were strictly off-limits to humanity and home to a multitude of powerful Pet Beasts. Alongside the Endless Sea Domain, these regions accounted for the majority of the Blue Star, shared between human Beast Tamers and the beasts themselves.
"What else could it be?" Su Anyong clarified. "The Wolf Lord, a creature of Legendary Level, maintains authority over the entire prairie. However, unlike human society, these Ferocious Beast empires are composed of low-level creatures with limited intellect. These beings usually serve as subordinates to Advanced Pet Beasts. Some low-level threats still lurk along the borders. As for the Wolf Country itself, they were hostile to us a century ago. But after that legendary figure emerged from Ximo to reign supreme, their stance shifted drastically. They even established formal diplomatic ties with our people. The Wolf Sage’s sixth Pet Beast is the grandson of the Wolf Lord. Because of this diplomatic alliance, the Wolf Sage even rejected a planned Soul Contract with a Dragon Pet in favor of that Heavenly Wolf."
Su Ping raised an eyebrow in surprise.
"Regarding the interior of the Wolf Country," Su Anyong continued, "the Great Prairie functions as a sanctuary for countless land-dwelling Ferocious Beasts. While they lack the sheer volume of Advanced Ferocious Beasts found in the Endless Sea Domain, their numbers are still significant. The Heavenly Wolf Tribe is considered royalty on the Great Prairie. Yet, due to their unique physiology, they produce many offspring, but only a fraction are capable of evolving into true Heavenly Wolves. While Old Sha’s situation appeared hopeless, it was actually a stroke of luck. Heavenly Wolf clan members often accelerate their own growth by consuming kin who carry the Sky Wolf Bloodline. A specimen like Old Sha, entirely devoid of that bloodline, is an extreme rarity. This spared him from the internal strife of the Wolf Country—a process not unlike cruel gu cultivation. The old Wolf Lord is growing frail with age, and the resulting instability has made the power struggles even more vicious. Old Sha’s father, the Green Cliff Sky Wolf King, is a prominent contender for the throne. Had Old Sha stayed, he likely would have been cannibalized long ago."
Su Ping grasped the concept. The world of Ferocious Beasts operated on an entirely different set of rules compared to the realm of humans.
"Enough of that, it pertains nothing to us," Su Anyong stated. "Do not waste your focus on these trivialities. Focus only on one priority: the cultivation of the Paperman. Before the New Year arrives, you must produce a fully matured Monarch Level Paperman and establish a Soul Contract with those youngsters. Do you follow me?"
"Understood..."
"Wait, there is one more detail." Just as Su Ping prepared to end the call, Su Anyong seemed to remember something vital and added, "When you were visiting the Rong Family, did you run into anyone suspicious?"
"Suspicious? How so?" Aside from his young nephew Rong Chan, the entire Rong Family was bizarre. After all, with such a vast array of animals available, the family insisted on dedicating their lives to researching spiders and centipedes—creatures that made one’s skin crawl at a glance.
Su Anyong rambled on with his inquiry, "A woman... how can I describe it? She seemed rather... shady..."
"I haven't encountered anyone fitting that description. Why do you ask?"
"Forget it if you haven't seen her. Also, do remember to properly care for my little Snake Pet."
At the mention of the creature, Su Ping felt a pang of guilt. Since the Red Devil had hatched, it had remained idling in his Beast Taming Space without receiving any of his attention. It was a Spirit Saint Level Devil Snake, a rare Psychic Element and Poison Type mutation, no less.
