Su Ping reunites with Zhu Linxin and his team, who have survived the Heavenly Tomb's dangers by collecting a mysterious black sword. Zhu Linxin explains that undead beasts were drawn to a Stele, transforming into an aura that condensed onto it, and picking up the sword protected him from the toxic fog. As Su Ping questions the tomb's purpose, a familiar, painful sound echoes, but Zhu Linxin seems unaffected, claiming the sound is growing weaker.

Chapter 1320: Chapter 541: The Shape of the Soul! Sword Casting!

Su Ping stood rooted to the spot, entirely at a loss for a moment.

He didn’t know if something had actually gone wrong, or if he was just overthinking things.

Or perhaps, he was the anomaly. At this very moment, his biggest difference from the others—especially when dealing with this Heavenly Tomb—was the Celestial Tomb Mark in his mind.

Was the existence of this thing the main cause of the anomaly?

But was it a good thing or a bad thing?

He didn’t know.

Yet at that moment, the Celestial Tomb Mark deep within his soul lit up once again.

The deafening noise was still there, but that bizarre, brain-piercing sensation had vanished completely.

Su Ping exhaled. Looking at the bewildered Zhu Linxin, he didn’t say or ask much.

At a time like this, even he couldn’t grasp the situation.

If he carelessly incited panic in the other man, the situation would undoubtedly worsen.

“Master Su, what should we do?” Zhu Linxin blinked at Su Ping.

Instead of feeling thrilled or excited about finding a way to dispel the gray fog, Su Ping exhaled and gave Zhu Linxin a deep look.

“We have two objectives for this trip. The first is to rendezvous with the rest of the main forces! After such a long period of Time in training, as long as the troops assemble, they can look out for one another in any situation. Furthermore, if any problems arise, they can be detected at the first possible Time.”

Zhu Linxin nodded.

“The second is the main objective of this expedition. You heard those sounds just now. My guess is that they are being produced by an entity residing in the deepest part of the Heavenly Tomb. As long as we find that thing and eradicate it, our mission will not only be successfully completed, but the hidden dangers of the entire Heavenly Tomb might also naturally resolve themselves! By then, the Northern Legion won’t have to face the Ghost Tide of the Northern Border for extended periods of Time anymore!

“However, for now, we should first figure out the operating rules within this Heavenly Tomb before taking action. It’s not too late.”

As Su Ping spoke, he kept his eyes firmly fixed on Zhu Linxin. Showing not the slightest hint of abnormality, the latter simply nodded.

“Alright! Then we’ll go wherever you say, Master Su.”

With that, Zhu Linxin raised the small, pitch-black sword in his hand.

However, it was only at this moment that the two realized the small, pitch-black sword had silently transformed into a faint wisp of air. The instant it was brought out, it completely dissipated into thin air, turning into flying ash.

“This…” Su Ping furrowed his brows.

“Don’t panic. The gray fog passage you opened behind you is still there. Since you just said this small fog sword was formed by these Undead, it wouldn’t hurt to wait a bit longer!”

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the figures of Undead began to appear once again at the edge of the gray fog.

Only this time, Su Ping didn’t have Qian Yi attack again. Retreating into the gray fog passage alongside Zhu Linxin, he summoned Xiao Qing once more.

Aside from Xiao Qing being better at crowd control, he was also worried about whether Zhu Linxin was pulling any other little tricks.

However, it seemed to be exactly as he had said; Zhu Linxin didn’t make a single suspicious move throughout the entire process, which put Su Ping’s mind slightly at ease.

According to their previous calculations, the interval between each sword cry was about thirty minutes of Time.

And so, Su Ping waited there for a full thirty minutes of Time.

Just as Zhu Linxin had said, those Undead really weren’t there just to cause trouble for Su Ping—at least, not solely for that. They gathered around the black Stele. When the next sword cry rang out once more, Su Ping covered his ears, enduring the torment the terrifying sound inflicted on his mind, and witnessed the scene.

Those Undead Series Ferocious Beasts stood before the black Stele.

As the sound echoed, their bodies seemed to instantly become soulless husks.

And when those limp husks slumped onto the Stele, they directly dissolved and turned into ashes, seemingly vanishing into the soil beneath their feet and the surrounding gray fog.

At that moment, the pitch-black Stele seemed to suddenly come to life. Amidst the continuous writhing of the Undead entities, it slowly transformed from a Stele into the small, pitch-black sword Su Ping had seen earlier.

In the end, all the previous Undead vanished completely, becoming that small, pitch-black longsword.

Afterward, the small sword hovered in midair, and in the next second, the vanished Stele reappeared as well.

Su Ping didn’t move. He still wanted to see exactly what was going on with that small, pitch-black sword.

However, as if sensing the gaze of Su Ping and Zhu Linxin, the small sword simply continued to Float there, completely motionless.

Su Ping furrowed his brows.

That feeling surfaced again.

This space within the Heavenly Tomb felt like an incredibly precise, operating instrument.

Every link, every step, seemed to be intricately interconnected.

And they were like spectators who had accidentally wandered into this instrument factory. The moment they intervened in the machine’s operation, special anomalies would occur.

But, as long as they did nothing, things would return to their most normal state.

Perhaps this was simply how the Heavenly Tomb inherently functioned.

At this point, Su Ping suddenly didn’t seem to be in a rush anymore.
