CLANG!
CLASH!
CLANG!
A continuous cacophony of dull and sharp sounds echoed. It felt like a nail was being driven directly into his skull, struck and pried relentlessly by a hammer over and over again. Every strike made Su Ping shudder from the inside out. It was as if his very soul was being splintered into a web of cracks by the noise.
Fortunately, the torturous noise subsided after a few rings and did not return.
His consciousness gradually recovered from the hazy disorientation of the spatial teleportation, and he finally took stock of his surroundings.
The place perfectly matched his expectations: ashen, barren, frigid, and utterly desolate. It was exactly how Su Ping had envisioned the Heavenly Tomb before stepping inside—well, except for those blunt, metallic sounds he had just endured.
Soon enough, Su Ping’s brows furrowed tightly.
His Contracted Beasts, Qian Yi and Xiao Qing, whom he had summoned a step early, were still right beside him. However, the members of the Heavenly Tomb Army—who should have followed him straight through the entrance—were nowhere to be seen.
This was one of the worst-case scenarios they had anticipated during their training. The entrance was randomized; each person who entered would be scattered to a different location! Luckily, they had prepared for this exact outcome.
Su Ping began pulling items out of his Beast Taming Space one by one.
First was an object resembling a compass. With its mechanical pointer and crystal-clear LED screen, it looked somewhat like the Spirit Land Detection Compass he had used in the past. However, this particular device was a mutual tracking compass designed to pinpoint all companions within a certain radius.
The result, however, made Su Ping’s heart sink.
Inside the Heavenly Tomb, the device couldn’t even boot up properly, let alone scan for signals. Even when Su Ping attached a high-capacity power bank, the screen remained pitch black. Evidently, the Heavenly Tomb Secret Realm completely isolated the Energy required for mechanical devices.
In fact, not only were external tools like Mechanical Weapons rendered useless here, but almost every other form of Energy was practically nonexistent. Aside from the absolute Death Energy, the only other thing suffusing this place was the endless, negative energy of the Undead, which shared the exact same origin.
This meant one crucial thing. Aside from Qian Yi, none of Su Ping’s Pet Beasts could recover their Energy naturally within the Heavenly Tomb Secret Realm. Every ounce of Energy expended was gone for good. Even a Beastmaster’s Beast Taming Space couldn’t help them recover. Without an external Energy supply, the space was useless—it couldn’t synthesize the ambient Death Spirit Energy into something his pets could absorb.
They could only rely on external supplies.
Fortunately, Su Ping had deep pockets. He had no shortage of Magic Potions and resources, and the other members of the Heavenly Tomb Army had also fully stocked up on supplies beforehand. Thinking of this, Su Ping let out a sigh of relief and pulled out his next item.
It was a Paperman.
Of course, it wasn’t a Pet Beast, but rather a specially crafted resource. This Paperman could automatically seek out, alert, and guide the user to other Papermen nearby. It was a recent creation by Yin Luo.
Su Ping had to admit that the Undead Series Breeding Master was highly skilled. This tool was crafted using Papermen as the base consumable material. By splicing and splitting a Paperman’s soul, each team member was given a fragment to hold. Once activated with spiritual power, the incomplete soul would instinctively seek out its missing pieces. It was a foolproof tracking method that required no external means to connect them.
However, to Su Ping’s dismay, this Paperman—which had passed numerous field tests—also failed. After he injected his spiritual power into it, the little figure simply spun around in circles, completely clueless as to which direction it should go.
Su Ping let out a heavy breath. He then reached out through his Soul Contract once more.
"Feifei..."
"Master! My connection with my main body has been completely severed, and the signal transmissions from the others have also failed entirely! Master, where exactly are we?"
Great. His final trump card was useless. Any lingering hope Su Ping had was completely dashed.
Still, this wasn’t entirely unexpected. Instead of wasting any more time on futile attempts to contact the others, Su Ping focused his attention fully on his surroundings.
A thick, gray mist shrouded the area, growing denser the farther out he looked. He appeared to be standing on a small, rolling hill. Right in the center of the hill stood a small Stele, but other than that, the landscape was entirely barren.
Su Ping immediately locked his eyes onto the small Stele. He extended his spiritual power toward it. Instantly, an overwhelming sensation of profound, dead silence washed over him. The sheer intensity of it shook his mind, causing him to instinctively stumble back a few steps.
The Stele stood there, completely unchanged.
"Qian Yi!"
Qian Yi swung its blade. The edge flashed forward without even releasing any Sword Qi. To Su Ping’s sheer disbelief, the Stele shattered into pieces the very next second. It then crumbled into fine gray powder and vanished into thin air.
All that remained was a patch of gray, empty earth. There was absolutely nothing else.
He was stunned by how utterly fragile it was and wondered if this was some kind of trap. However, the countless Undead he expected to ambush him were nowhere to be seen. The area remained eerily quiet, suffocated by an oppressive, dead silence.
But the moment that thought crossed his mind, Su Ping realized how wrong he was.
All across the small hill, silhouettes began to emerge abruptly, sprouting like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. They stepped out from the endless veil of gray mist. Their mechanical, utterly rigid movements showed not a shred of intelligence or cognitive thought. Yet, the auras rolling off their bodies were terrifyingly strong.
There were over a hundred Undead present. At least a dozen of them were at the Monarch Level, while the rest were all at the Commander Peak!
