Beast Taming: the More the Better Chapter 1312 - 538: The Dragon Slayer Sword’s Promise! Entering the Heavenly Tomb!
Previously on Beast Taming: the More the Better...
The heavy snow that had fallen continuously for days finally stopped in the early morning. As the overcast sky cleared, the breaking dawn light emerged from the lands of The East, casting a renewed blanket of warmth over this frozen world. This invariably brought an indescribable sense of relief to the countless soldiers of the Northern Border Legion, whose hearts had been weighed down by gloom.
However, unbeknownst to them, while they breathed a sigh of relief on this particular morning, the hearts of all the higher-ups and top brass of the entire Northern Border Legion were in their throats.
Outside Anling City, in the wilderness closest to the Heavenly Tomb, over a hundred figures stood at the edge of a small hill. The commander-Level figures of the Northern Border Legion didn’t even dare to breathe heavily as they stared at the figure before them. Even those who had heard Su Ping speak that night and formulated some speculations never expected that this person would actually show up.
That tall, straight figure stood atop the solitary cliff like an eternal, Evergreen pine. Such a figure seemed incredibly distant from everyone present. Yet, this very same person now wore a faint smile. His gaze swept past the crowd and even shifted away from Su Ping, lingering briefly on Su Anyong beside him before he offered a smiling nod.
This was the first time Su Ping had ever seen his old man look so utterly flattered. This was despite the fact that the old geezer had already seen this person once last night when he came over to yell at Su Ping.
Eventually, the gaze of the Legend of the Holy Dragon slowly settled on the Heavenly Tomb Beast Control Team—a full company of a hundred men standing behind everyone else. Sensing his gaze, Li Feng, who stood at the forefront, and his several vice-captains all straightened their backs.
Only then did the Legend of the Holy Dragon speak:
"You all should know where you are heading next and what you will face!
"You are heroes of the Dragon Nation. I have no interest in whatever lies within the Heavenly Tomb. My only demand is that however Su Ping goes in, he must come out exactly the same way.
"The promise I can give you is that if you unfortunately perish inside, the Dragon Nation will never forget your families and relatives. They will enjoy the most Advanced Level welfare benefits.
"If you have children or nephews, I can personally guarantee that their first Pet Beast after their coming-of-age Awakening contract will be an Emperor Level Pet Beast cub! Furthermore, all their Breeding paths and plans will be fully arranged!"
Nothing was more important than tangible, concrete benefits. However, upon hearing this, Li Feng’s flushed, excited face grew calm. He stepped directly out of the formation.
"Report! Even without any benefits, we will do everything in our power to protect Master Su’s Life! Please rest assured, Commander!"
Clearly, it wasn’t just about the benefits. After spending so much Time in contact with them, Su Ping knew that the men who joined the Heavenly Tomb Special Beast Taming Forces were genuine soldiers with their own convictions. They were absolutely willing to sacrifice everything for this country. Although, hearing these declarations of protection made him feel slightly embarrassed. Nevertheless, it was a gesture of their goodwill and absolute prioritization of his safety. The figures standing behind Li Feng shared the exact same sentiment.
The Legend of the Holy Dragon merely offered a faint smile without saying anything. Instead, Su Anyong cursed right next to him.
"Bullshit! Why shouldn’t the country provide benefits for those who lay down their lives for it? Li Feng, what the hell are you acting like a show-off for? You have no right to make decisions for your comrades who might die in battle!"
Li Feng’s face turned beet red, but he didn’t say another word and quickly fell back into formation.
The Legend of the Holy Dragon then continued:
"Alright, I can understand your determination and absolutely believe in your loyalty. But Instructor Su is right. The motherland will never chill the hearts of any soldier who sheds blood and sacrifices their Lives for it.
"Furthermore, on this trip, aside from protecting Su Ping’s Life and safety, you might even wipe out the source of the Northern Plain Ghost Tide! Every single one of you is a hero!"
The word "hero" was the ultimate badge of affirmation for these men, who valued their home and country countless times more than their own Lives.
The Legend of the Holy Dragon looked at Su Ping again. "Su Ping, are you ready?"
Su Ping nodded.
The Legend of the Holy Dragon glanced at the others. Suddenly, a flash of light appeared out of thin air, and a small, incredibly familiar figure materialized beside Su Ping once more.
The white Fortune Cat bounded onto Su Ping’s shoulder. With its petite and exquisite body, it gently rubbed its long tail against Su Ping’s earlobe before jumping straight to the ground. Immediately after, that incredibly tiny body suddenly expanded in mid-air.
A look of shock flashed across everyone’s eyes.
It was a Bai Hu.
Its entire body was snow-white, marked only by a few dark patterns. It wasn’t that Su Ping had never seen a Bai Hu before. He had previously seen the Ice Scale White Tiger during the Jianghai Province legion martial arts competition.
However, the figure of the Bai Hu before him wasn’t surrounded by biting Ice System Energy, nor did it have ice shards or frosted fur. Instead, it bore the most unadorned and natural appearance. Yet, this very Bai Hu gave him an indescribable sense of inviolable sanctity. It was an aura elevated and Floated by a Power far more mysterious and formidable than mere Energy.
Bai Hu.
One of the legendary Four Heavenly Spirits. In ancient mythology and legends, it stood alongside the Vermilion Bird as the true Supreme of the Metal Element.
Though, Su Ping also knew that the Lord Bai before him had likely not yet reached the mythical level of the legends.
