Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife Chapter 2109 - 2111: Hostage
Previously on Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife...
No matter what Huo Zheng might have said to Song Jiaying in private, when he said he’d add fuel to the fire, he really did: a fresh bouquet of roses every day, constant concern and invitations to go out, making Ning Ge grind his teeth in hatred.
Send flowers? Who doesn’t know how to send flowers. Compare money? He was a dignified major shareholder in a corporation—how could he lose to a mere doctor? Even if the other guy had a good family background, his own was absolutely not worse, and his money was all earned through solid, honest business.
So the two of them were basically openly competing, each bouquet bigger and brighter than the last. In just a few days, Song Jiaying’s office couldn’t hold them anymore, to the point that other departments all received fresh flower vases.
Ning Ge also didn’t forget to rope his son in as a supporter, playing the daddy card, pushing clinginess and pestering to the extreme, even saying idiotic nonsense like not being able to find his underwear right in front of Huo Zheng, making Song Jiaying so mad she was about to explode.
The days passed one by one, same as always. Ning Ge took his son to block a certain person’s way after work, but that day, the moment he entered the hospital doors, he sensed something was off.
The atmosphere in the hospital was very tense, with a layer of fear.
"That lunatic, who knows if he’ll really do it. What’s this got to do with the doctor anyway? It was clearly obstructed labor and he refused a C-section, that’s why the mother and baby died. Now he’s got a knife and took someone hostage—hope nothing happens."
An inexplicable panic rose in Ning Ge’s heart. He didn’t hold his son’s hand anymore; instead he started running toward Song Jiaying’s office.
But when he reached the floor where her office was, the scene before his eyes made Ning Ge’s eyes almost split with rage.
Song Jiaying, in her white doctor’s coat, had her neck clamped by a haggard-looking middle-aged man with a full beard, and he was holding a dagger pressed against the front of her body.
"Mommy..." Song Tianyi was terrified, blurting out.
Ning Ge hurriedly clapped a hand over his mouth, his expression shedding its usual jokey grin, turning icy cold and sinister.
The man was yelling, basically ranting about heartless doctors ruining his family, demanding compensation, demanding a life for a life, extremely worked up.
"Put the knife down first. Doctor Song wasn’t your wife’s attending physician. You’re about to hurt an innocent person," Huo Zheng tried to persuade from the side.
"Pah! You’re all in this together. I don’t care who it is. My wife’s dead, the baby’s gone too—two lives in one body. My family’s gone. I don’t wanna live anyway, might as well drag someone down as a corpse cushion!" the man shouted.
Ning Ge handed his son to a nurse, soothed him a few words, then walked over to stand beside Huo Zheng and asked, "What’s going on?"
He looked over at Song Jiaying. She’d stayed very composed, and when she saw him, a flash of light burst in her eyes.
Don’t be afraid!
Ning Ge’s lips moved to form two words, and Song Jiaying suddenly curled her lips in a faint smile.
She understood!
"The mother died with the baby, the family’s emotional and wants revenge," Huo Zheng, too, was very calm at this point.
"Called the police?"
"Yes."
Seeing the man slowly edging backward along the corridor, Ning Ge asked, "All the offices behind him are empty?"
"It’s after work. Most people have already left."
Thoughts spun rapidly through Ning Ge’s mind, and he asked, "Outside both rows of offices, are there balconies?"
Huo Zheng’s heart jolted; he immediately understood and said, "You’re thinking..."
"He’s extremely unstable. I’m afraid he won’t hold out until the police arrive. I’ll go over from the balcony and circle around from the offices behind him," Ning Ge said. "You keep him steady up front for me."
"But even if there are balconies, the gaps are big—and this is the tenth floor." Meaning, if he missed a step, he’d end up as a pancake.
"You just focus on holding him." Ning Ge didn’t respond to that, instead urging him to move forward and cover for him so he could slip into an office without alerting the guy.
