Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife Chapter 2092 - 2094: A Night of Full Blooms and Perfect Moons
Previously on Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife...
The full moon hangs high, its cold light spilling over the earth, illuminating the mortal world, the deep-autumn scent of Guihua drilling straight into the nose.
In Cheng Su’s Household, the lights are already out, the elders and children long asleep; yet out on the balcony, two people refuse to waste the moon—a cup of tea, a handful of flowers, a small plate of fruit, murmuring in low voices, whispering sweet nothings, blatantly basking in the moonlight.
The breeze is faintly cool, the fragrance of flowers rushes to the nose, making the heart feel open and free.
"They all say the moon on the fifteenth is fullest on the sixteenth, but that’s not true this year. Tonight’s moon is really so round!" Cheng Su said, looking up at the huge moon overhead.
Qi Taiguo wrapped his arms around her from behind, rested his chin on her shoulder, and asked, "Then do you know why?"
"Hm?"
"It’s because I’m here this year. So Lady Chang E heard my call, parted all the clouds covering the moon, revealed such a big, round moon, so that I could admire it together with my beloved wife and not waste the springtime of life." Qi Taiguo murmured into her ear, and even lightly licked her earlobe, ridiculously suggestive.
Cheng Su’s ears tingled unbearably; she shifted away a little, and when she heard his words, she giggled even more, saying, "Whether Lady Chang E heard your call or not, I don’t know. What I do know is, you really have walked this mouth of yours all the way down the sweet road!" Sweet to the point of cloying.
Qi Taiguo turned her body to face him, yet his hands still domineeringly encircled her waist, and he asked, "Then do you like hearing it?"
Cheng Su arched a brow and said, "As long as it’s said for me alone, I like it!"
"But of course. My sweet nothings can only be spoken in front of you. Other people aren’t worthy of hearing them, and besides, I couldn’t say them to anyone else." Qi Taiguo said smugly.
Cheng Su gave a soft, dismissive snort.
Qi Taiguo held her, and together they looked at the moonlight. He said, "When we worshiped the moon as kids, we always had to make a wish. Did you make one?"
"What about you?"
"My wish is to be able to bask in the moonlight with you year after year, all the way until we’re old, until the day we both close our eyes." Qi Taiguo said.
"So simple?" Cheng Su looked at him and said, "I thought you’d be praying for promotion step by step, rising in rank and title."
Qi Taiguo shook his head and said, "When I think of promotion, it’s because I hope my family will bask in that honor with me, so no one dares bully you, no one dares look down on you. I want all of you to shine. Promotion is important, but what’s more important is that I can be with you, year after year, watching the moon together, never parted from each other. It sounds simple, but if you really think about it, is it simple?"
Cheng Su smiled faintly.
Yes—he’s a soldier. Setting missions aside, every so often there’s holiday combat readiness, and already they can’t always reunite. So being able to watch the moon together every year is actually quite hard.
"Then my wish is: deep love, never betrayed." Cheng Su turned her head to look at him and said, "Even if we’re not looking at the moon together, if our hearts are together, then the moon is together with us."
Qi Taiguo looked at her; moonlight fell into her eyes, sparkling, crystal-bright, and he couldn’t help but be moved. He lowered his head slightly.
Cheng Su closed her eyes.
His burning lips fell upon her cool ones, enclosing them; the nimble tip of his tongue pried open her shell-like teeth, caught her small tongue, and teased and tangled with it.
The moon, shy and bashful, slowly hid itself among the clouds, yet refused to burrow deep, peeking out half its face to watch this passionate pair and bless them.
The two of us—who fell first, who cared first, who conquered whom—we don’t need to know. We’re grateful that in this vast sea of people we could still meet; we only wish that our souls stay attuned, that we soothe each other, hand in hand for life, growing old side by side.
The moonlight is cold and clear, the love deep and unbetrayed; having you in the rest of my life is my good fortune.
On a night of flowers in bloom and a full moon, lovers come in pairs.
