The family gathers for a warm hotpot meal as the Qi parents prepare to return to their old home for the New Year. Conversations touch on family reunions and Mother Qi brings up a shop intended for Xiao Qi, which sparks a discussion between Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo about its future.

Cheng Su gently settled Qi Xiaoqi onto the bed, pulling the quilt snugly around him before turning her attention back to Qi Taiguo.

"I've identified a significant business venture. While that location may seem unremarkable now, it's destined to become a bustling street dedicated to seafood and dried goods in the future. If we establish ourselves now, within twenty to thirty years, the shop will undoubtedly evolve into a venerable, long-standing establishment," Cheng Su confided in a low voice. "My vision is long-term. Although the initial phase will be challenging, I have no intention of remaining in Guangcheng indefinitely; I'll merely oversee operations once the shop is operational."

"It's not that I'm entirely opposed. As you've pointed out, it will eventually develop into a specialized street, so what real difference would waiting a few more years make? I'm evaluating the situation from all perspectives. You are currently in your third year, and next September marks your final year, meaning you'll have more free time, correct? By the time you graduate in 1990, Xiao Qi will be older, just over a year old. Is it truly impossible to achieve this within that timeframe?" Qi Taiguo inquired softly.

Cheng Su pursed her lips, stating, "Opportunities are fleeting."

She simply could not bear to let such a prime chance slip away. As the economy was poised for a surge in the early 90s, prices were inevitably expected to rise.

"Previously, you mentioned delaying having a child to prevent conflicts between managing a business and raising an infant. Yet now, you're willing to be away from the child so frequently?" Qi Taiguo questioned. "If you embark on another business venture now, even with hired staff, you'll still need to invest considerable personal effort. Doesn't that seem to contradict your original intentions?"

Cheng Su's cheeks flushed, defensively asking, "Are you implying I'm untrustworthy, that I go back on my word?"

Qi Taiguo found himself caught between amusement and concern. "That's certainly not what I intended. I'm merely worried about your capacity to manage everything – the child, the business, and your studies. My dear, you are only human, not a divine being; how can you possibly handle so many responsibilities simultaneously?"

Cheng Su wrinkled her nose, replying, "My coursework is relatively manageable towards the end of my studies. As for the child, if I do need to go to Guangcheng for business, I will absolutely take Xiao Qi with me!"

Qi Taiguo was taken aback. "You intend to take the child with you while you work?"

"Not to work, but to have him nearby," Cheng Su clarified. "We have a residence in Guangcheng. Taking him there, with someone to accompany us, he will be well looked after. When I have free time, I can spend it playing with him and showing him around."

Attempting to sway Qi Taiguo further, she added, "As the saying goes, reading a thousand books is not as good as traveling a thousand miles. This is all about broadening his horizons."

Qi Taiguo let out a disbelieving laugh. "He's just a small child, not even of school age yet, and you're already planning for him to embark on extensive travels. You are quite amusing!"

Cheng Su chuckled. "That's where you misunderstand. Children possess remarkable memories. The places they visit and the sights they witness are genuinely imprinted in their minds. When they encounter certain words later, if adults have previously mentioned them, they will naturally recall and connect them."

In the preceding generation, numerous parents prioritized cultivating their children's understanding and insight, supplementing various clubs and enrichment classes – those were for personal development and learning. Some individuals, upon gaining leisure time, would take their children on global excursions to broaden their knowledge.

The distinction between a frog dwelling in a well and an individual who has experienced diverse global cultures is quite apparent, wouldn't you agree?

"Furthermore, to say we'll open a shop doesn't imply it will be operational immediately. The shop requires renovations, and the new year is approaching. We can undertake renovations next year, allow the space to air out, then gradually set things up. By then, it will be summer vacation, and I will be free!" Cheng Su reasoned, counting on her fingers.

Observing her unwavering determination, Qi Taiguo sighed, acknowledging that marrying a woman with a strong will meant never expecting her to settle for complacency!
