Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife Chapter 1499 - 1500: The Little Pig Arrives
Previously on Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife...
Think you can deliver the baby right after stepping into the delivery room? That's pure naivety.
Cheng Su was pushed into the delivery room on a cart and simply abandoned to the side. Shrieks and yells echoed from within, as physicians commanded harder pushes. It went without saying—those miserable women were laboring too.
Miserable Cheng Su, abandoned there on the outskirts, completely overlooked by all. Her belly ached fiercely, draining the color from her face. At last, she grabbed hold of a nurse and pleaded, "Nurse, why is everyone ignoring me? Why won't they assist with my delivery?"
The nurse replied, "You're just at eight centimeters dilation; hold on until ten centimeters. Bear with it a bit more!"
What?
That cursed scoundrel!
Who knew entering didn't mean instant birth—you had to endure even more waiting.
Cheng Su muttered curses under her breath and forced deep breaths. While she regulated her breathing steadily, the other mothers' cries abruptly ceased entirely.
A strange chill gripped Cheng Su, yet baby's wails soon rang out, easing her tension once more.
Terror and worry crashed over Cheng Su all at once. Suddenly, regret hit her—why hadn't she insisted Qi Taiguo join her for labor support? She felt utterly terrified!
Time blurred in her endless wait. Cheng Su sensed a chill between her legs, a rush of fluid, and upon checking, she panicked and yelled, "Nurse, doctor—my water has broken!"
A staff member rushed up, saying, "Stay calm, conserve your energy." After examining her, they announced, "Alright, time to deliver now!"
Cheng Su was shoved deeper inside as another patient was carted away. Glancing over, she spotted the earlier screaming woman gliding past, eyes shut, complexion deathly pale.
A face drained of all color.
Cheng Su averted her gaze in horror; they hoisted her onto the delivery table, the glaring overhead lights forcing her eyes shut.
Terror consumed her!
"Follow my commands for pushing soon—no random efforts, got it?" The lead doctor, tipped with a red envelope, spoke with unusual kindness.
Pain had broken Cheng Su completely, leaving her compliant as she nodded frantically.
Agonizing tears, brutal tearing sensations, exhausting propulsion pains—Cheng Su's energy dwindled fast, but she obeyed the doctor's cues, pushing in steady bursts.
Amniotic sac ruptured, yet the infant remained stuck. Exhaustion overtook her fully.
"Doctor, I'm out of strength—please perform an episiotomy!" Cheng Su pleaded feebly with the doctor, strength utterly spent.
"Baby's crowning in the canal—no cutting possible. Without push, it won't emerge and could asphyxiate." The doctor responded sternly, signaling the nurse for sugar water: "One final big effort."
Cheng Su gulped down the sugar water, gaining a spark of vigor, and resumed pushing.
Weakness wasn't an option; faltering now meant her baby might never arrive.
Pain had turned her senseless long ago!
Cheng Su robotically heeded the push commands, over and over.
"Head's visible—the little one's hair is jet black, give it everything!"
Heeding the doctor's shout, Cheng Su summoned her last reserves, channeling them below. A full slip followed, leaving her limp like a punctured balloon, utterly spent.
"It's out."
Cheng Su fought to pry her eyes open, desperate for a glimpse of her newborn, her own blood and bone.
No cries—why no baby cries? Cheng Su yearned to lift her arm, to question aloud, vaguely sensing hands delving inside her, extracting something.
Suddenly, a feeble, kittenish wail erupted, and Cheng Su eased, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Know what you've delivered?" a voice questioned her.
Cheng Su shook her head faintly; fatigue dragged her toward sleep.
"Congratulations—a son! Have a peek!"
Cheng Su strained to focus her eyes, spotting the bare infant, noting the telltale boyish feature—a tiny piggy—and then blackness claimed her fully.
