Varnos observed the dire battle, seeing his commanders pushed to their limits. As Serah's signal abruptly vanished, Varnos realized he had to intervene. However, before he could act, Alaric, the Goblin Guild leader, appeared and confronted him, their destinies now intertwined in a battle that would decide the war's outcome.

Collision.

There was no distance between them.

The instant Varnos advanced, space fractured, not with a bang or a flash, but conceptually. It was as if reality itself had become too fragile to contain the presence of these two titans.

Then, the void consumed it all.

The battle was drawn into the void. There was no sky, no ground, only an endless expanse of darkness, shimmering cracks in space, and torrents of mana churning like tempests in every direction.

Every motion, every intake of breath, every clang of power seemed to momentarily suspend time.

Varnos initiated the first assault.

Due to the serum, he could not wield the Moon Law or his skills in their typical fashion.

Luckily, he found himself within the confines of the Everlight Moon Guild, his home turf, where he could call upon his trump cards for assistance.

One such trump card was the Moon Tree, situated within the Guild’s private dimension. As long as he remained within a specific radius, he could directly tap into the Moon Tree's power, channeling the Moon Law and his abilities through it.

Naturally, numerous constraints still applied; he was not operating at his full capacity, and the cost of employing this power was exceptionally high.

For every sliver of power he borrowed, a fragment of his own essence would be absorbed and lost by the tree. This meant the longer the confrontation persisted, the more power he would forfeit, potentially plummeting from S-rank right down to A-rank.

His form was enveloped in a subtle, moonlit luminescence. His muscles coiled, and his fist launched towards Alaric with a force capable of obliterating an entire city.

His skill activated.

[Moonlight Reinforcement]

Moonlight surged through his being. His veins pulsed with an icy glow, and the power he received even managed to push back the void momentarily.

Yet, at the point of impact, there was nothing to shatter.

Alaric remained motionless. The space before him warped and then… vanished.

[Void Consumption]

Varnos's fist, laden with its full might, was absorbed before it could connect. It was not blocked or deflected; it was simply erased from existence.

The force dissipated as though it had never been.

Varnos's eyes narrowed.

Without a pause, he pivoted, slamming his foot onto the unstable fabric of space. In that same instant, a crescent arc of moonlight sliced through the void.

[Crescent Sever]

A blade of pure light carved through space as if it were delicate cloth, hurtling directly at Alaric. Its trajectory was not linear, as space itself buckled, yet the slash navigated through every distortion.

Alaric retreated, but merely one step.

The space behind him imploded, and his form slipped into the encroaching darkness.

[Abyss Step]

This was not mere movement, nor conventional teleportation. He traversed the void and reappeared from another vantage point, directly behind Varnos.

Strike.

There was no superfluous gesture in the motion.

Only pure pressure.

[Dark Collapse]

A singular point in space, precisely behind Varnos’s back, imploded. Not outward, but inward. Then, in a single instant, that immense pressure was unleashed.

Explosion.

But it originated not from the exterior, but from the very core of reality itself.

The confrontation between these two had irrevocably transcended ordinary limits. Every single strike possessed the potential to directly rend the fabric of existence.

Had this battle unfolded outside the void, nothing would have remained of the capital city. It might have even annihilated the nation's other cities, leaving the entire country a desolate ruin.

Varnos’s body was propelled forward, the moonlight veiling him flickering for a fleeting instant.

He did not falter. Within the void, the concept of ground was non-existent, yet his equilibrium wavered for a second.

His breathing grew ragged. The serum still coursed through him, and the array continued its oppressive hold. He recognized his inability to unleash his full power, and the Moon Tree could only offer limited succor.

Should he also target the array? Perhaps shattering it would fundamentally alter the course of the battle.

More than just the battle, the entire trajectory of the war would shift, providing immense support to Daniel and the other Guild commanders. Their probability of victory would skyrocket.

However, Varnos drew a deep breath. Executing such a maneuver was simply not feasible. That array possessed its own integrated defensive mechanisms, and it was hardly likely Alaric would stand idly by and permit such an action.

And so, he attacked once more, this time with increased speed and without the slightest hesitation.

His blows rained down in rapid succession, each one capable of fracturing space itself. Moonlight swirled around him, and every movement left a chilling wake in the void.

In one swift maneuver, a direct strike aimed at Alaric’s chest.

But once again, the blow missed its mark, impacting only the void.

[Void Consumption]

The assault vanished.

Varnos shifted his attack vector instantly, launching a second strike from an unexpected angle, then a third, but the outcome remained consistently the same.

Alaric, much like an intangible shadow, absorbed every single one.

Yet, this time, defense was not his sole action.

The space surrounding Varnos underwent a transformation.

[Black Domain Fragment]

A portion of the void darkened, becoming oppressingly heavy, as if linked to another realm. Movement within this altered sector grew sluggish, and the pressure exerted upon the body intensified manifold.

Varnos sensed it. His physical presence grew heavy, and his movements became significantly sluggish.

Then, the pressure descended.

[Eternal Night Pressure]

It wasn't a single, impactful strike, nor a violent explosion.

Instead, it was a persistent, unrelenting pressure that bore down upon his body and spirit. This pressure defied comprehension, as if it were directly crushing his very existence.

He felt on the verge of collapsing at any given moment.

Yet, he refused to yield.

[Silent Full Moon]

The ambient moonlight surrounding him grew still. All sound ceased. Mana fluctuations diminished, and for a fleeting instant, his mind achieved profound clarity.

He re-centered his focus and launched another assault. This time, every element converged upon a single point: his fist, the moon's power, his entire physical might – he poured everything into it.

A collision occurred.

For a brief instant, the void itself fractured, but the disruption was momentary.

Alaric raised his hand, and this time, he made no move to defend.

[Void Rend]

The very fabric of space in the trajectory of Varnos's fist… tore open, not broken, but separated cleanly.

Varnos's attack was not only diverted but simultaneously sent back towards him.

Varnos's form was violently yanked into the newly formed rift and then violently expelled with force amplified manifold.

Collision.

This time, the impact was met by something akin to solid ground, and it splintered upon impact.

Varnos was slammed down with crushing force.

Fractures spread across the void. A wave of raw mana erupted outwards, and the moonlight enveloping him flickered out for a moment.

His body was grievously wounded, bleeding from countless points. His vision blurred, and he felt as though one of his eyes had been permanently blinded.

However, he still clung to life.

The distinct sound of a footstep echoed through the void. Alaric advanced, his gaze fixated upon the fallen Varnos.

"With this… you intended to stop me and emerge victorious?" he inquired, his voice laced with mockery and utter contempt.

Varnos remained silent. His body strained, attempting to stir, but the oppressive pressure… was now even more overwhelming.

Alaric tilted his head slightly, his eyes narrowing as a chilling thought crossed his mind.

"Do not fret. Once I have ended your life, I shall seek out your daughters and send them to join you shortly. Your family shall be reunited in the afterlife."
