Daniel's strike accidentally decapitated James, plunging the Goblin Guild's main hall into stunned silence as blood sprayed and the body collapsed. Enraged, Alaric ordered the murderer's execution, unleashing dozens of senior officials with skills like Chains of Holy Blood and Soul Slash against Daniel and Varnos. Sara and Joe fled while Daniel summoned his strongest Fallen, exposing his identity as The Fallen and igniting a full-scale war in the successor ceremony.

Alaric leaped from his position like a shadow bursting with rage.

His eyes were utterly black now, while the veins across his forehead throbbed like wriggling serpents.

"You worthless scum... you murdered my successor... the gem of this guild... now you get to die!"

"His weakness had nothing to do with me," Daniel mocked. Though he hadn’t killed James, denying it here wouldn’t help, no matter how badly he wished to.

For the moment, he was forced to shoulder the blame until evidence of his innocence surfaced later—if it existed at all.

"Shut your trap! Not only you—today the whole Everlight Moon Guild falls!" Alaric bellowed in rage.

His devastating aura and murderous intent rattled the entire Goblin Guild palace. Space and time appeared to fracture beneath the immense pressure.

That aura made Daniel’s body quiver, sparking fury within him. Were his powers not so diminished, how could this fool’s presence make him tremble?

"If any guild crumbles today, it’s your terrorist outfit," Varnos declared icily, stepping up behind Daniel.

"Hmph, a pathetic weakling like you is utterly delusional. I’ll rip you apart and deliver you to that slut of yours," Alaric snarled, lunging without mercy.

Varnos dodged back swiftly and attempted to unleash his Moon Law. By sacrificing much of his life force, he’d quelled most of the poison. Now he could invoke Moon Law at a reduced pace.

[Lunar Reflection]

A silvery moon ring materialized around him, meant to deflect Alaric’s assault.

But...

The ring flickered for just a second before exploding like fragile glass.

His Moon Law strength was drastically reduced. Neither the poison nor the concealed array permitted even one percent of his true power to emerge.

Alaric burst into laughter—a chilling cackle brimming with scorn.

"All these years you boasted as the top Rank S in the nation... yet now you can’t even trigger your own law?"

He flicked his hand.

[Void Devourer]

Suddenly, the space encircling Varnos imploded like a miniature black hole.

Air, light, and even Varnos’s heartbeat sounds vanished momentarily into the void.

Varnos sensed his chest compressing painfully.

He thrust a bare fist ahead, yet Alaric merely gestured with a finger, summoning a shadowy duplicate that ensnared Varnos’s fist within it.

[Shadow Dominion]

Dozens of shadowy appendages erupted from floor and walls simultaneously, assailing Varnos.

Each appendage gripped like icy steel talons. Varnos shattered only three with his punches; the others pierced his flesh.

Skin ripped across his arms and torso. Blood gushed forth.

Space and time quaked from their clash. Vast palace sections crumbled, compelling both warriors into the endless void to press the fight.

"Mr. Varnos faces a brutal battle," Daniel murmured, scowling as they vanished into the void. Luckily, the array ceased interfering once inside.

Yet that cursed poison remained a crippling flaw. He now saw that despite burning off half, it had regenerated, enshrouding his whole form.

And fiercer than ever before.

What kind of poison was this? He’d never imagined such a horrifying toxin could exist.

Only a Demi-God could brew something like it, he was sure. But why would such a being meddle here?

He questioned whether a power at that level would bother obliterating a guild like Everlight Moon.

Their guild held strength, yet to such a titan, it equated to worthless refuse.

He believed the true aim wasn’t the guild. Then what? Something from the Goblin Guild? Or leveraging Goblins to seize the nation? Perhaps the whole region?

Regrettably, his deductions missed the mark entirely, for the actual target wasn’t the nation or guild.

It was him. Personally.

He shifted focus to the Fallen. Goblin Guild fools couldn’t overcome them; instead, they suffered defeats.

His Fallen were nearly undying. They revived endlessly no matter the deaths. Vanquishing them proved a nightmare, beyond these morons’ capabilities.

Yet before further assessment, a colossal strike barreled toward him.

"Hmph, I’ll shred you myself, you garbage," Jason snarled, hurtling forth despite kneeling.

On the other side...

"Ah...!" Varnos crumpled to one knee. Agony seared through him.

He attempted [Moonfall Strike], a blow descending like the moon itself, but its force barely reached average Rank A levels.

Alaric advanced and smashed a powerful fist into Varnos’s face. The crunch of shattering jawbone resounded in the hall.

"This is for James."

Varnos flew back, tumbling across the ground. Blood flooded from his mouth.

He hastily summoned [Celestial Barrier], a silvery lunar shield enveloping him, but Alaric merely sneered.

[Eclipse Blade]

A dark sword materialized in Alaric’s grasp, devouring every trace of light.

One effortless slash cleaved the lunar shield like tissue.

The blade plunged into Varnos’s shoulder, pulverizing bone.

Varnos howled. For the first time in years, true bodily torment gripped him.

Since attaining Rank S, he’d known no such suffering.

His strength had plummeted so far he couldn’t deploy [Lunar Eclipse] to dazzle foes.

Alaric loomed above and crushed a foot onto his chest.

"You always bragged about revenge... so where’s it at now?"

He stomped once more. Varnos’s ribs snapped.

"I slaughtered your wife... and now you. Your daughters next... I’ll strip it all from you, Varnos."

Varnos struggled upright. Blood streamed from mouth and nose. Those words ignited crimson fury in his gaze.

But action eluded him.

With final reserves, he invoked [Silver Moon Force], unleashing lunar wrath in a mighty punch at Alaric.

Alaric barely budged.

He seized Varnos’s arm, whirled him, and hurled him into the boundless void.

[Abyss Chains]

Dark chains burst from shadows, binding Varnos’s form. They constricted body and soul alike.

Varnos felt vitality ebbing away.

[Eternal Nightfall]

Enveloping space plunged into unending gloom.

Within this gloom, Varnos’s power waned relentlessly each instant. Raising a hand proved impossible.

"You’re worthless, Varnos. Always have been. Merely a yapping mutt dreaming of fangs," Alaric whispered, hatred lacing every word as he crouched.

He lifted the Eclipse Blade for the killing blow.

Varnos sprawled helpless. Eyes barely open, body riddled with gashes and breaks, blood seeping everywhere.

Speech failed him.

Only ragged, blood-choked gasps remained.

Alaric grinned.

"Farewell, old friend."

The ebony blade ascended for the fatal descent...
