Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy Chapter 1224: Drained

Chaos exploded in the arena the instant Amaya, Vin, and Brannic unveiled their demon forms.
Shouts, gasps, and murmurs echoed everywhere.
"Demons...!" a student yelled, pulling back in terror.
"Unbelievable... they've gotten Demon Blood?" someone else burst out, their tone shaky. After all, Demon Blood proved hard to get. Plus, demons left no blood behind if killed. Capturing them alive was the only way to claim it!
Certain students gawked in astonishment, stunned by their boldness.
Some scowled, rejecting the decision outright. In their view, demons represented pure evil, nothing worth welcoming.
Still, jealousy flickered through the audience. A handful gripped their hands tightly, resentful that these talented youths had seized such taboo might.
Meanwhile, a couple of onlookers murmured in wonder, their respect plain to see.
"They're crazy," a young man grumbled, his head wagging. "Yet check out that power..."
"They'll exhaust themselves," a girl remarked, even as desire shone in her gaze. "But... imagine if I could transform like that."
Professor Paterson stayed quiet, though. For Transformation Artists, every shape was just another instrument, so this didn't bother him one bit.
"So... you've picked this route," Eryn stated.
"We aim to test our limits facing the Asura's disciple." Amaya responded.
"And this is our sole option." Vin chimed in, his fist tightening.
"No holding back now." Brannic declared, sounding like he'd been restraining himself before.
The fight resumed right away.
The Demon Huntress struck first. Amaya's claws tore into the bark with blinding speed... This attack outpaced anything her lynx shape had managed.
She darted between shadows, evading the thrashing limbs that couldn't touch her.
Next, Vin's wings flapped with tainted power...
Black plumes flew apart as purple fire erupted, trailed by razor-sharp gusts!
Ssakk! Ssakk!
Brannic rushed forward after that. His Juggernaut build looked far more robust, and his skeletal gloves soon pounded the trunk with ruinous impact.
Boom! Boom!
Every hit rattled the arena, and cracks quickly webbed over the stone ground.
Eryn stumbled under the onslaught from every side.
His treant frame creaked from the barrage, limbs breaking off, tendrils shattering, leaving him in dire straits.
He'd picked this shape to level the playing field with the students, aiming to instill harmony and restraint. Yet demon blood rendered restraint pointless.
Even so, he pushed back.
Tendrils burst forth, lashing the field, limbs slamming against magical barriers.
Bam!
He pounded the earth, unleashing quakes to throw off their balance. Afterward, his outer layer toughened, shimmering softly with Arcane Energy.
The demons, however, chuckled.
Amaya bounded high. Her claws then ripped past his barriers. "Professor! Are we faring better this time?!"
Vin dove down, his wings severing the tendrils. "Don't hit us with Divinity, okay?"
Brannic bellowed too, battering the reinforced layer. "Quit teasing the Professor!"
He understood the reason those two acted so playfully. The Demon Essence fueling their shift was gradually twisting their thoughts.
Naturally, Eryn had no issue with it. Regarding Divinity, he might wield it, but he'd never unleash it on pupils. Besides, he couldn't generate it on his own. Any Divinity within him came solely from their master. Once depleted, it stayed gone without fresh supply from him.
In this mortal world, though, replenishing Divinity proved incredibly tough.
"No need to fret... I'll claim victory yet." Eryn whispered, but the trio apparently missed his words.
The spectators held their breath, witnessing Eryn pushed purely on the defense.
In truth, Eryn pondered the level of force to unleash or if switching from his Treant form made sense.
After brief reflection, he decided.
"I won't fall to mere kids!" he bellowed.
Limbs whipped forward, snaring Amaya, altering Vin's plunge, shoving Brannic away.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Tendrils rose, coiling the mole and rock, hauling them off. Poof!
Those final two reverted to human shapes at last and got knocked out.
Yet the three demons rose again and lunged once more!
Amaya pushed her speed higher, gradually peeling the Treant's outer layer.
Vin targeted thinner limbs to sever, their strategy to gradually sap Eryn's strength. Brannic kept up his disruptive assault, his gloves breaching the barriers.
United, they hammered away.
Bang!
Eryn's outer layer cracked open, sap flowing like gore. His treant frame quivered. Before long, leaves flew in droves from Vin's relentless strikes.
Turmoil gripped the crowd. Cheers rang out from those unable to deny the awe of such youthful might! Yet some pupils hoped for their downfall or severe wounds in the clash!
"They're dominating him!"
"Demons... way too powerful!"
"Hmph... Just flaunting it."
Professor Paterson's gaze sharpened. He sensed the peril. Demon shapes held immense might but teetered on instability. The youths weren't merely draining Arcane Energy at a frantic rate. Prolonged use might let Demon Essence burrow too deep into their systems.
"Tsk..."
Eryn clenched his jaw, though. His treant shape wasn't his peak, yet he wouldn't suffer disgrace. He channeled extra Arcane Energy to his tendrils, driving them to erupt at impossible velocity. Limbs slashed like swords, tendrils pounded like mallets.
The field grew wilder, but the three Demons held strong.
Their teamwork shone without flaw...
Time dragged on with neither side yielding. Regrettably, the students wore down.
Amaya's red shine dimmed as Vin's wings shook and dropped low... Brannic's gloves even fractured now...
Soon enough, Eryn knew he must halt his strikes.
He spotted it. His emerald eyes tightened. "You're all remarkable... But beware descending into insanity. Reserve Demonification for true need."
The three shared looks and agreed with nods.
"Yes!"
With that, their demon shapes crumbled. They dropped to their knees, heaving breaths, sweat pouring, Arcane Energy spent.
