Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy Chapter 1125: Food
Previously on Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy...
The sun had dipped below the mountains by the time Chad and Vale returned to the Shadow Domain.
They didn’t head toward the central city or the Shadow Caste. Instead, Vale led him to the newly installed tower atop a high hill overlooking the valley... It was his Immortal Tower.
The tower itself was made of black stone, and it was already filled with enchantments, ensuring its durability...
It was not incredibly high as Chad initially thought, but it was an imposing sight...
Although it was suppressed, Chad could feel the Divinity pressure coming from off of it...
There were familiar traces of shadow energy, and the air around it carried a subtle chill. It seemed to be an effect of the two Immortal Spirit Beasts that resided within.
’Spirit Beasts... I wonder what they look like...’ Chad thought as Vale actually bragged about those two some time ago while they were traveling back.
As they approached the entrance, Chad felt the pressure shift.
A low growl echoed from the upper terrace, followed by a flicker of frost across the air.
Then came the sound of claws tapping against stone.
Descending from the shadows above, the Frostborne Vulpestra landed gracefully on the steps. Her fur seemed like silver or gray and her nine tails curled behind her slowly...
"Vulpie..." Vale said casually.
The beast let out a soft chuff and padded forward, brushing against Vale’s side before turning her gaze to Chad. Her eyes glowed faintly, but she didn’t move aggressively.
Well, Chad was still a part dragon after all.
"She’s a lot cuter than I thought." Chad muttered. He was expecting that the Spirit Beast was actually larger than this. Still, he could feel the power coming from it, so there was no doubt that it was a powerful creature.
"She’s been feeding only food from the Shadow Realm... But I didn’t bring a lot of them. I have to find some alternative soon." Vale replied. "Anyway, she likes the cold... So you’ll get along."
He said this since Vale knew about Chad’s special physique aside from being a half-dragon...
A moment later, the shadows behind them shifted again.
This time, the Nightreaver Shroudfang emerged. It was silent, also cute, and cloaked in a veil of darkness. His form was like a panther with subtle dark smoke flowing on his fur... With glowing red eyes, it looked intimidating at first, but Chad could tell that it just wanted attention.
"Shroud..." Vale said. "Don’t scare him."
The beast gave a low rumble, then faded back into the shadows...
Chad exhaled. "You really brought them both from the Shadow Realm?"
"I got lucky... It’s hard to bring adult ones..." Vale said.
Soon, the tower doors opened automatically as they stepped inside.
No guards or staff inside. There were only Vale’s guests.
Chad was, of course, excited upon entering... He didn’t want an Immortal Tower to manage himself, but he certainly wanted its benefits.
The central hall was wide and elegant...
They soon arrived at the ceremonial hall where a long table had been set near the fireside, and several familiar figures were already seated or lounging nearby.
Lisa, the Immortal Vampire, was sipping from a crystal goblet; it seemed that she was already enjoying a wine from the Shadow Realm...
Maya, the Chaos Alchemist, was actually holding a couple of vials in front of her, and she was showing this to Denise, as if she was trying to sell her these potions.
Denise, the one known as the Golem Alchemist, was seated beside her, quietly listening to Maya and would nod from time to time.
Constance, the Spirit Immortal, stood near the window and was just silently looking at Vale. She seemed to be relieved seeing him again.
Aubrey, the famous Paranormal Investigator, may seem to be the weakest here. However, her connection was probably the best among them due to her family...
At this time, she was flipping through a stack of notes. Her coat was still dusted with ash from her last field mission.
Then, there was also Odessa, the Holy Saint, who was arranging a tray of enchanted fruits... She was also part of the Shadow Domain’s forces, but in the end, she was only a Half-Immortal.
And finally, Faith, the Blind Immortal, sat with her eyes closed, with her hands folded neatly in her lap. She didn’t need to look since she already knew they had arrived.
"Welcome back..." Lisa said, raising her glass.
"About time..." Maya added. "We were starting without you."
Chad grinned. "I had to fight an Immortal Evil Entity first. You know how it is."
Vale stepped forward and took his seat at the head of the table.
"Let’s eat for now..." He said.
As Vale gave the signal, his Shadow Soldiers swiftly arranged the table and brought the food he had prepared.
The food wasn’t extravagant in appearance, but it was quite elegant...
The colors were muted, but they glowed faintly, as if infused with ambient Arcane Energy.
Chad was curious as he found the food quite simple in terms of appearance...
"This is all from the Shadow Realm?" he asked.
Vale nodded. "Harvested, prepared, and sealed before storing them in my Spatial Ring...
Lisa was already enjoying her wine, but she gestured toward a bowl of pale, spiral-cut roots like ginseng.
"Not sure what they are but I’m having them." Lisa chuckled as she knew that anything that Vale brought back was definitely something impressive.
Chad picked one up and bit into it. The texture was soft, almost cloud-like, and the taste was mildly sweet with a cooling aftereffect.
He could feel his draconic aura settle slightly, the tension in his chest easing.
"It feels good..." he muttered.
And just like that, the feast began.
Everyone was already enjoying the meal, chatting and sampling the dishes with curiosity and delight. Watching them, Vale couldn’t help but grin.
He was looking forward to seeing the subtle effects of the Shadow Realm cuisine take hold...
After all, these weren’t just any food...
