Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy Chapter 1122: Injured

Previously on Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy...
Chad, the half-dragon Immortal, has gone missing since the Chaos Immortal Invasion, leaving Vale and Constance unaware of his secret mission. Dispatched to the Pallham Empire, he seeks to unravel the activities of the Order of Fatality, a cult responsible for summoning Evil Entities in the region. Welcomed by the Beast Arts Faction, Chad learns of the cult’s dangerous hybrid rituals and the potential aid they receive from unknown sources. Joined by the faction’s elders, he prepares to track down the summoners and halt their dark plans before more cities fall victim to their corruption.

’I hope it’s something good...’

Chad exhaled slowly, suppressing the slight impatience in his chest. He had already spent too long here. The longer he stayed, the more he felt the Shadow Domain pulling him back.

Nonetheless, the duty came first.

He turned to the gathered elders and leaders...

"We move now, and I’ll handle the entities. You should also coordinate with the Summoning Arts envoys and secure the perimeter. We can’t afford delays."

Grandmaster Varn nodded. "We’ve already dispatched runners to the nearest site. The area is remote, but the traces of the Arcanists could not be mistaken. If they’re preparing a large-scale ritual, it’ll be there."

Elder Rasha also added, "The Order of the Enlightened Threads has already sent a detachment. They’re waiting for us in the outer region."

The Order of the Enlightened Threads was the Summoning Arts Faction’s Elite Arcanists... similar to the Order of Untainted Sentinels of the Holy Arts Faction...

Chad didn’t waste time. Within the hour, the joint force had mobilized.

The Beast Arts Practitioners moved in formation...

They were all marked with totems that had traces of beast power.

They even summoned mounts... Many of them were spirit-infused panthers and scaled hounds that had evolved through Arcane Breeding...

Meanwhile, the Summoning Arts Practitioners from the Enlightened Threads rode on their own Summoned Beasts...

It seemed that one of the requirements of these elite Arcanists was to be able to summon a mount.

After all, Chad had seen other practitioners who couldn’t summon creatures without their grimoire. Instead, they could summon weapons, plants, or other materials instead.

’I guess it’s a strict requirement, huh.’ Chad mused as he couldn’t help but feel fascinated by these Summoners.

In his opinion, they were actually the most interesting Arcanists...

After all, they could be very unpredictable and fun with their Grimoires.

Being able to summon swords, chairs, utensils, plants, medicines, and all, depending on your affinity, seemed a really cool concept for Arcanists.

Unfortunately, because it felt as if it was based on luck, the Marshall Academy had only recently tried accepting their students.

’Right... Lisa’s Vampires were assigned to recruit summoner arts practitioners. I wonder if they managed to recruit them.’ Chad mused as he traveled to their destination...

After ending his random thoughts, Chad finally looked at the basin where the enemies could be hiding...

This specific land was called Duskwither Sink, a sunken land or depression located between two mountains. The soil there was dark and dry, cracked from years of spiritual instability.

Sparse trees were there like withered sentinels. Unfortunately, their barks were already scorched and their roots almost exposed, as if the land itself was trying to spit them out.

It was not a beautiful place...

Still, the Duskwither had once been a sacred place, a minor convergence point where many Beast Arts Practitioners would visit before performing seasonal rites. But now, the air was filled with the scent of something far fouler... like rotting iron and wet ash.

Crack~

Chad arrived first with his boots crunching against the brittle ground.

He scanned the area with his Draconic Sense and even if it was greatly hidden, he sensed something... The corruption was present and clinging to the rocks and on the ground.

At the center of the sink, a wide formation had been carved into the earth. There were circles of burnt soil and blackened stone, still with the traces of evil energy...He didn’t need to be told what it was.

A summoning site.

It was recently used and possibly still active.

Soon after, the rest of the joint force arrived. The Beast Arts Practitioners moved with their beast totems glowing faintly beneath their robes.

They were ready to use their Beast Arts anytime...

Alongside them came the envoys from the Order of the Enlightened Threads, the Summoning Arts Faction that had long maintained neutrality... until now.

Their leader, Arven, stepped forward. His robes were simple but his presence was definitely overwhelming compared to other Summoners.

"We’ve confirmed the presence of rogue summoners... We can sense them through the Grimoires we have." Arven said.

"They’re using corrupted summoning arrays. Not just calling entities... They’re trying to stabilize them here permanently instead of temporarily granting them time to cause chaos..."

Chad nodded. "Then we stop them before they finish."

Everyone knew the Order of Fatality had drawn defectors from every Arcane Arts Faction...

They could be from Holy, Dark, Elemental, Mystic, and more. But the recent influx of rogue Summoning Arts Practitioners had tilted the balance. Hundreds had joined the cult after a rift within the Summoning Arts Faction.

They were then lured by promises of forbidden knowledge and unshackled power.

Now, they were summoning things that didn’t belong in this world.

Chad turned toward the center of the sink. "I’ll deal with the entities. You handle the summoners."

Arven gave a short nod. "We’ve already prepared counter-rituals in case necessary. We’ll strike when you engage."

They certainly have Grimoires with them, but large-scale summoning couldn’t be done by Grimoires. If the Cultists tried to call out entities that Chad could have trouble dealing with, they had to stop it with another ritual. They had to use their own formation circles in such cases.

Still, the battle began not long after as the enemies also sensed their arrival...

From the corrupted formation, evil creatures or entities suddenly emerged.

At first, they just looked like shadows given form with their bodies barely resembling human, but not in size... Chad moved quickly as he saw the Evil Entities...

They were the only problem that the Beast Arts Practitioners and Summoners could not defeat. So Chad knew what he had to do.

With his draconic aura, he easily tore through them like they were nothing...

Just a single strike was needed, and he was able to shatter their forms, even his presence alone disrupted the unstable energies that held them together.

Meanwhile, the Beast Arts Practitioners held the perimeter, summoning the beastly strength of whatever beasts they were contracted with and dealing with the cultists that tried to flee.

The Enlightened Threads also started moving as they opened their Grimoires...

However, it was at this point that they heard a loud explosion and saw Chad, the Half-Dragon Immortal, heavily injured on the ground!
