Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy Chapter 1114: Special Entity

Vale’s return was definitely great news.

Armin and the others had been worrying about the Shadow Domain for the past few weeks, and with the Shadow Immortal’s return. They just knew that the Chaos Immortal’s numbers weren’t something that could stop their Immortal.

"That’s awesome... I guess we can finally work with a peace of mind." Rehan said as he was also worried about his friends and family.

"Hahah... With Sir Immortal back, then those invaders will be gone in no time... I feel at ease now..." Ely added that her parents in the Order of the Evanescent Vessels would also be tough during this time. However, with Lord Vale’s presence, they have nothing to worry about...

They could just focus on their jobs as exorcists.

After some time, the group finally went to work. They weren’t planning to simply return to the Shadow Domain. After all, they had already built a reputation here, and they didn’t want to cancel all the job requests they had accepted.

They knew that Vale wouldn’t like that either.

Tonight, Armin’s group was investigating a narrow alley behind the old spice market.

"It should be around here..." Rehan muttered as he looked at the damp walls with air that was still filled with spiritual energy...

Rehan knelt beside a broken lantern post, his fingers tracing the cracks in the stone.

"There’s residue here..." he said. "Someone was dragged."

Ely stepped forward with her boots splashing lightly in the shallow puddles. She raised her hand and summoned a faint glow of blue light, just enough to reveal the lingering traces of spiritual disturbance.

"Three cases in this alley..." she said. "Two merchants and one courier. All vanished after sunset. Locals said they heard screaming, but no bodies were found."

Armin nodded. "Then it’s not just a haunting people... It’s actively dragging people, huh..."

He reached into his coat and pulled out a small obsidian charm etched with protective runes. With a flick of his wrist, he planted it into the wall. The charm pulsed once, then dimmed.

"Barrier’s up..." he said. "If it tries to escape, it’ll bounce off."

Rehan stood and scanned the alley.

Normally, the Evil Spirits they would hunt would possess ordinary humans or even objects.

However, they had a feeling today that the Evil Spirit they were dealing with was not possessing anything. It was due to how the Evil Spirit was actively dragging people and making them disappear.

"It’s hiding. Probably waiting for another victim."

Ely narrowed her eyes as she also couldn’t find the exact location where the Evil Spirit could be hiding.

Perhaps, it already sensed their disguise and didn’t want to come out.

"Then let’s give it one. I’ll up my concealment... I can be a bit vulnerable during this time, so help me when the time comes." Ely said before she stepped into the center of the alley and lowered her guard, letting her aura flicker just enough to mimic vulnerability.

Her presence became soft and inviting... like a lost traveler.

It didn’t take long before the shadows shifted.

A low growl echoed from the far end of the alley, followed by the sound of scraping—like claws against stone.

Armin raised his hand. "Here it comes."

From the darkness, a twisted figure emerged.

"Ahhh... Hey, Armin... That’s not an Evil Spirit at all." Rehan said as he saw what they were dealing it.

This was definitely not a simple matter that could be fixed with an exorcism.

The creature was humanoid, or at the very least, it at least had one head, limbs like humans, but they were not in a human-like position.

Its limbs were elongated, its face was stretched with a long jaw, and its eyes glowed faintly with a green hue, while its body leaked black mist with every movement.

"Undead?" Armin thought at first, but it didn’t fit any undead creatures they were aware of. Still, they had to end this quickly.

This creature then launched at Ely, but before it could reach her, Rehan snapped his fingers.

A psychic pulse slammed into the creature, halting it mid-air. It shrieked, writhing against the invisible spell he cast...

"What are you?" Rehan muttered.

At this point, they still couldn’t understand what creature it was or if it was another form of Evil Spirit they had never seen before.

Still, Armin stepped forward, as he wanted to end this mission as well.

"You’ve taken enough. You have to disappear now."

He raised his other hand, and a chain of dark energy wrapped around the creature’s body... It struggled from the sudden constriction, but the chain just tightened, pulling it to the ground.

Ely then took out a talisman commonly used by Dark Arts Practitioners to seal curses, evil spirits, unknown entities, and even rogue arcanists if necessary...

With the activation of the seal, the entity in front of them finally stilled.

The entity convulsed violently.

Its limbs jerked in unnatural directions, and the black mist that had been leaking from its body began to dissipate... It was as if it were drawn into the talisman like smoke into a vacuum.

Soon, the glow in its eyes faded, then vanished entirely.

With a final shudder, the creature collapsed to the ground.

Silence returned to the alley... as Armin and the others stepped closer, cautiously inspecting the body. The dark mist was gone, but the corpse remained... It was twisted, malformed, and very much physical.

"That’s not how Evil Spirits behave..." Rehan muttered, crouching beside him. "They don’t leave bodies behind."

That was common knowledge that didn’t need to be said, so Ely looked at him with a mocking gaze.

Still, she didn’t want to argue.

Armin reached into his coat and pulled out a small blade, slicing a thin line across the creature’s arm. No blood came out, just a faint trace of dried ink beneath the skin.

"Spellscript? No... It’s something else." He muttered. "Someone made this."

Rehan frowned after hearing this... "Something like those Variants?"

"More like a corrupted vessel..." Armin replied. "It was made to look like a spirit-possessed corpse, but it’s artificial. Someone built this thing."

Ely’s hands clenched around the now-dim talisman. "A rogue Dark Mage..."

The three of them exchanged glances as they knew what this meant...
