Sunshine confronted Moon in prison, revealing she remembered their past lives and had used her foreknowledge to secure her current comfortable existence. Moon, realizing Sunshine had manipulated events and sold her a fake bracelet, pleaded for forgiveness, but Sunshine vowed revenge for Moon ending her life in their previous existence.

Sunshine advanced, her hand reaching out to graze the glass. A chilling cruelty flashed within her eyes. The sturdy hammer secured at her waist seemed to hum, eager to fulfill Sunshine's unspoken desire to shatter the woman confined within the cell.

"For what act of contrition do you seek forgiveness?" Sunshine inquired, her voice laced with mockery. "And you did not harm me!" A disbelieving laugh escaped her. "Are you not the very same woman who drugged me and delivered me into Hades's embrace? It is true, I am now indebted to you, for that night ultimately worked in my favor. However, we both understand your intention was to seal my doom."

Moon's complexion grew even more ashen. "That... that... it was a different time. I was a different person. But I am a good soul now."

Sunshine let out a derisive snort. "You literally administered poison to another before my comrades apprehended you! He lives, by the way, and he's already divulging everything. When Dominic christened you the angel of death, his words held profound truth. By the heavens, you pose as great a peril as the watchers themselves."

Moon let out a soft whimper.

Sunshine turned her gaze back towards Dominic. "Dominic, she clings to her delusions. Let us indulge her. Erase her memories, strip away her past, and leave only the specter of nightmares for the time being."

A grin stretched across Dominic's face, his eyes alight with a wicked eagerness. "It would be my utmost delight."

Moon shrieked, scrambling frantically towards the farthest corner of her cell as the entrance hissed open. "No! Stay away! Do not come near me!" The terrifying extent of Dominic's power was etched into her memory.

Heeding none of her desperate pleas, Dominic strode through the opening, his swift movements closing the distance between them in mere moments. His hand shot out, seizing her by the throat. He lifted her slightly, forcing her to meet his penetrating gaze as his formidable ability commenced its assault, tearing through her mind like a tempest.

Sunshine chose not to bear witness to the ensuing torment. She departed the correctional facility, the fading echoes of Moon's screams trailing in her wake. This was merely the prelude; the true terror was yet to unfold.

Stepping out into the crisp morning air, she drew in a long, cleansing breath. The future held the promise of purity.

Her mobile device was already alight with incoming communications from her household. Ariel sought a consultation regarding Silverdale's substantial financial proposals. Earl requested assistance in preparing for his impending junior-level medical examination. Castiel yearned for an excursion on the newly acquired large bicycle in Kingsbridge, and White desired a professional grooming session for his fur.

She was an individual of consequence, her days meticulously scheduled.

"Ready to return home?" Hades inquired, his voice gentle.

A smile graced her lips as she accepted his offered hand.

Two afternoons later, Sunshine and Hades were engaged in a game of cards on the veranda when a palpable vibration began to permeate the very atmosphere. It was no mere subtle hum, but a profound, bone-jarring resonance that seemed to emanate from the heavens themselves.

Abruptly, a voice thundered from the sky, its sheer volume causing the windowpanes to rattle violently within their frames.

"Attention, this is the Universal Repairman Organization speaking. All sentient beings originating from other galaxies who are not indigenous to this planet are hereby advised to evacuate Earth within the next 12 hours. The dimensional rifts will be permanently sealed. Failure to depart by this deadline will result in your permanent entrapment on this world."

Sunshine and Hades instinctively tilted their heads back, their eyes straining to pierce the vast expanse of the sky. No sleek drones were visible. Instead, the heavens were densely populated by thousands of formidable, heavily armed robots. Etched prominently upon the metallic chest of each automaton was the silver gear emblem of the Repairman Organization, glinting brilliantly in the light. They were not merely traversing the sky; they were actively patrolling, their numbers spreading across the horizon like an agitated swarm of hornets.

Hades released a low whistle, a slow, knowing smile beginning to form on his lips. "Well, I'll be damned. It's actually happening. Just look at those tin cans go."

Sunshine folded her arms, a surge of fierce pride coursing through her. "The King wasted no time. He commanded the Council to commence operations immediately, and for once, those inflexible council members actually heeded his directive. I suppose holding one's secrets in escrow serves as a powerful incentive."

Across the globe, bewildered inhabitants gazed upward in utter confusion. The majority of survivors situated beyond the confines of Fortress Four lacked any comprehension of what a 'rift' entailed; they simply attributed the world's dire state to unfortunate circumstances.

Within the protective embrace of Fortress Four, however, the reception was markedly different. Enthusiastic cheers erupted from the barracks, and strangers embraced in the thoroughfares, tears of jubilation streaming down their faces. For the first time in an immeasurable period, the Watchers and their mutant abominations were being compelled to retreat.

Yet, while humanity reveled in their deliverance, the Watchers residing within the interdimensional bubble found themselves plunged into an abyss of utter disarray.

"This constitutes an outrageous violation!" one Watcher shrieked from within the bubble. "The Repairmen are mandated to maintain neutrality! Their function is repair, not border enforcement! By what authority have they presumed to seal our ingress and egress?"

"We must initiate a full-scale influx," another proposed, his voice strained with palpable panic. "Before they seal the rifts permanently, let us transport every mutant in our reserve and all the superhumans under our control from the Drift lands. Let us transform this planet into an unmanageable hive, far too vast for them to possibly cleanse!"

A third Watcher, his face drained of color, shook his head. "It's impossible. The Repairman robots have already secured the entrances to every rift. We never even detected their arrival. They're preventing any entry, only permitting those departing. It's a one-way passage, and we're on the wrong side. I refuse to be stranded on this wretched planet."

Pink unleashed a torrent of curses that would shock any sailor. Her communicator suddenly chimed, displaying a high-priority signal. "A direct order just arrived from the homeworld," she spat. "We must cease all operations on Earth immediately. We're being recalled."

From a corner of the command center, Lisha couldn't contain herself. A high-pitched, delighted squeal escaped her. She had endured their arrogance for so long, and now they were being expelled like unwanted curs. "Oh, eat that, you idiots!" she cackled, clutching her stomach. "Is the fearsome army leaving so soon? Shall I help you pack your belongings?"

"Those scoundrels have tormented us long enough," Vicente stated, bursting in, eager to verify if this astonishing turn of events was real.

Carson nodded in agreement. "This bears her signature; she has truly discovered a method to seal the accursed rift."

Sunshine, accompanied by several committee members, hurried into the command room.

"System," Sunshine commanded, her voice steely. "Unblock the watcher frequency. I intend to utilize it."

[Frequency unblocked, host,] the System responded seamlessly. [The Watchers will now be able to overhear your every word.]

Sunshine gestured for Hades to speak, desiring the Watchers to comprehend precisely who had triumphed over them.

Hades leaned towards the microphone, his tone laced with feigned nonchalance. "You know, Sunshine, it's quite a pity the rifts are closing so rapidly. You've made such a remarkable recovery, and I know how eager you were for a bit of private time with our friend Pink, aboard the bubble."

Pink silenced the other watchers. The alien beings froze, tuning into the unfolding conversation.

"Sunshine! Recovery?" Pink whispered incredulously. "She was supposed to be deceased! We witnessed the Noxian kill her!"

"Ah, the watchers are in for quite the shock," Hades' voice echoed.

"Prepare the vehicles; I plan to hunt down the Watchers individually before the gates are sealed permanently," Sunshine declared resolutely.

Pink's expression shifted dramatically. The fear dissipated, replaced by a chilling, desperate avarice. She glanced at the other Watchers, a sharp glint igniting in her eyes.

"She's alive," Pink repeated, a slow, sinister grin unfurling across her face. "This isn't a defeat. It's a parting gift! If the rifts are closing, we have nothing left to lose."

"What are you proposing?" one of the Watchers inquired.

"I'm suggesting we don't depart empty-handed," Pink retorted sharply. "Forget the mutants. Forget destroying the base as our final act. We seize Sunshine Raine. We snatch her and drag her through the rift with us before it seals. We will torture her, forcing her to live with eternal regret."

Sunshine smiled faintly. "System, block the frequency."

[Affirmative, host.]
