Refusing to remain a burden to Liang Yuan, Ding Yan leaves Yangshan in search of a path to strengthen herself. Her departure coincides with a gathering organized by Li Qinghua and other powerful allies, who plan to investigate a mysterious, unstable spatial fold rumored to house dangerous genetic-level mutant beasts. While this group prepares their expedition to hunt for blood essence and increase their own power, Liang Yuan travels away from Yangshan only to have his progress abruptly halted by a massive, skeletal vessel blocking his path.

This colossal warship before me stands several meters high, with a length exceeding one hundred meters. The entire structure looks as if it were draped in the skeletal remains of some ancient beast, and the bow bears a striking resemblance to the skull of a gargantuan fish. Beneath this massive vessel, eerie bone-crafted skiffs patrol the perimeter, acting as if they are guarding its flanks. Liang Yuan’s speedboat slows to a halt in the distance; compared to this towering skeletal behemoth, Yangshan’s vessel looks trivial.

Ah Long’s expression turns grave as he asks, “Where could such a massive ship have come from?” Bai Zhirui cannot help but gasp, “The design is absolutely grotesque!” Liang Yuan frowns slightly, his voice heavy. “Indeed it is. We are only fifty kilometers from Yangshan. It makes no sense for a ship this size to appear here.”

“Mr. Liang, shall I go and investigate?” Ah Long inquires. Liang Yuan considers this for a moment before shaking his head. “I will go myself. Stay here and wait.” He wishes to avoid complications, as the virologist Jiang Ziyin is his priority. However, a ship of this strange design appearing so close to Yangshan cannot be ignored. With a sudden burst of motion, he rises into the air, darting toward the skeleton ship.

Whoosh! In a heartbeat, he reaches the vessel. The patrolling skiffs fail to notice him as he hides among the protruding bones of the ship’s hull. He first glances at the small boats below; upon closer inspection, he realizes they are not constructed of wood or steel, but are the actual skeletons of mutated creatures. Bizarrely, despite being mere bones, they maneuver through the water as if they were still alive. “What exactly is going on here?” Trembling slightly with shock, Liang Yuan leaps onto the deck.

The deck lacks the defenses he expected. In fact, there is no one in sight—only a scattering of skeletal remains, their cause and time of death unknown. Liang Yuan is stunned. “Is this ship truly abandoned?” Feeling a sudden chill, he cautiously steps inside. Suddenly, a voice rings out, “Don’t... don’t go in!” Liang Yuan halts, his heart pounding, and scans his surroundings. Beyond the scattered remains, he sees nothing.

“Who’s there?”“Don’t go in! Leave now!”The voice repeats, and this time, Liang Yuan pinpoints the source. He turns his gaze toward the massive mast rising from the deck. The strange warning is coming from within the mast itself. Intrigued, he approaches. The mast is over a meter in diameter and covered in rope-like coils. Closer inspection reveals these aren’t ropes at all, but snake-like creatures secreting a viscous fluid. Liang Yuan scans them with his spiritual power, and his face turns pale. He draws a bone saber and slashes downward with all his might.

Phup! The ‘ropes’ are severed, and a torrent of fresh blood sprays out. “Hiss!” A sharp sound echoes as the coils unravel. Dozens of snakes emerge, fangs bared, lunging to wrap around him. Liang Yuan retreats and slams his palms against the mast. Boom! With his powers activated, a wave of frigid air freezes the snakes into ice sculptures. He looks at the mast again and realizes it has shrunken, revealing sunken chambers filled with decaying corpses. Caught among them is a thin, skeletal man, staring at Liang Yuan with eyes full of desperation. “Help... save me...”

Liang Yuan leaps back, launching an Ice Star Chain that pierces the corpses and secures the man, yanking him free. Crackling! Ice fragments shower the deck as the snakeheads frenzy, thrashing against his binding. Liang Yuan sneers, preparing to unleash his full might, but the deck suddenly begins to tremble violently. The structure seems to come alive, splitting open to reveal rows of razor-sharp teeth. As the ground shifts beneath him, he relies on his Spiritual Telekinesis to remain hovering. From the ship’s belly, a giant bone spear strikes out, the entire vessel seemingly fighting to capture him. Sails and anchors animate with lethal intent.

Liang Yuan’s scalp tingles; the ship is a living entity! He ascends, flames igniting under his feet as Qi Burst light surges from his palms. Boom! He accelerates, tearing through the air and leaving a blurred path in his wake. He does not release the Ice Star Chain, dragging the tethered, emaciated man with him away from the ship. “Roar!” A thunderous, primal sound erupted from the monster-ship. Liang Yuan looks back to see the vessel arching its back, the fish-skull prow glowing with ominous red eyes. Then, with a final massive splash, the entire creature-ship dives beneath the surface and vanishes.

Liang Yuan hangs in the air, his heart racing. Even with his cultivation at the Genetic Species level, he breaks into a cold sweat. “What was that? Have the monsters in the water evolved to such an extreme?” He feels a sense of urgency. If he had been caught, the consequences would have been dire. He turns his attention to the man hanging from his chain. To his horror, the man’s legs are missing, the wound having partially decayed as if dissolved by water. Liang Yuan uses his ice energy to cauterize the rot and brings the man to the speedboat.

Ah Long and Bai Zhirui watch, stunned. “Mr. Liang, what just happened?” Liang Yuan ignores the question for the moment. “Save him first,” he orders. Bai Zhirui administers a life serum, and the man’s features regain a flicker of color. “This is a high-grade serum from the medical department,” she cautions, “it triggers life force, but in his state, he may not withstand it.” Liang Yuan nods grimly, knowing it is the man’s only hope. The survivor whispers hoarsely, “Don’t... wait. I know I’m gone. That... that wasn’t a ship. It was alive! Do not go near it. It’s a monster!” With that final warning, his eyes dim, and he dies.

“Wake up!” Ah Long shouts, but the man is gone. Liang Yuan speaks quietly, “He is dead.” Tu Long sighing over the cost of the serum, but Liang Yuan promises to handle the reimbursement. After verifying the man has nothing of value, he returns the corpse to the water. Gazing at the endless, dangerous expanse of the sea, he feels a heavy burden. “Humanity struggles for a sliver of land, while the monsters below grow stronger every day. From mutant frogs to giant octopuses, and now... things like this.”

The realization of his own limitations gnaws at him. Even though he has outpaced the others in Yangshan, he is still far from the apex of power needed for this new world. “Mr. Liang, does this thing pose a threat to us?” Tu Long asks. Liang Yuan shakes his head, “Probably just a transient. A creature of that size likely cannot dwell long in these shallow waters.” Tu Long breathes a sigh of relief. “Head to the city,” Liang Yuan commands. The speedboat engine roars to life, and they race across the water, vanishing into the distance.
