Apocalypse: King of Zombies Chapter 1515: You Call That Bewitching Gaze?
Previously on Apocalypse: King of Zombies...
"Is that true?" The pinnacle-race fighters fixed the Galeborn with hard stares.
"I wouldn’t dare lie to you, my lords." Startled, the Galeborn hurriedly pointed into the distance. "The bodies are still over there."
They followed his gaze, and their expressions darkened.
A pile of corpses lay in the distance. All of them were Stage SS, ranging from Tier 36 to Tier 40.
The sight sent a chill through the pinnacle-race fighters.
They had seriously underestimated these humans.
"What do we do now?"
"Attack the distortion. That should disrupt the dimension inside."
"Do it."
Ability after ability appeared and slammed into the distorted space.
Inside the Deadlock Dimension, Velessa stared at the unfamiliar surroundings in surprise. She quickly regained her composure.
"I didn’t expect you to have a trump card like this. The elders were right. Humans really do possess all kinds of strange abilities."
"Not bad. You’re remarkably calm for someone trapped inside my Deadlock Dimension," Ethan said, looking at her with interest.
"Why should I panic?" Velessa sneered. "You don’t really think you’ve already won, do you?"
"You’re not as pretty as my Mia, so I’m not interested in having my way with you." Ethan smiled. "Killing you, though? That interests me."
He was about to attack when faint tremors ran through the Deadlock Dimension.
Ethan’s eyes shifted.
The others were attacking the spatial node from outside.
He wasn’t concerned. Back when he had only just reached Stage SS, the peak Tier 41 unicorn lord had attacked the node without breaking it. Now that Ethan had reached Tier 39, these people had even less chance of succeeding.
They couldn’t break in, but their attacks were still increasing the mental energy required to maintain the dimension.
He needed to end this quickly.
"It seems this separate dimension of yours isn’t very stable," Velessa taunted.
"Whether it’s stable has nothing to do with you. You won’t live long enough to see what happens."
Ethan teleported behind her and swung his poleaxe at her head without the slightest hesitation.
A pink barrier appeared around Velessa. Her eyes turned pink as she looked straight at Ethan.
"Huh?"
Light flashed in Ethan’s eyes, blocking her ocular attack. At the same time, however, his Silencing Gaze failed.
Boom!
The pink barrier shattered. Velessa used the force of the impact to retreat dozens of feet and escaped without injury, but she stared at Ethan in disbelief.
"You can use Bewitching Gaze too?"
"You call that Bewitching Gaze?" Ethan scoffed. "Mine are on a whole different level."
He hadn’t expected her abilities to be eye-based. No wonder he hadn’t been able to identify them earlier. Their abilities countered one another.
This was the first time he had ever encountered someone with a similar power.
Velessa’s abilities were somewhat like Skinny Pete’s, but not exactly the same. Hers seemed capable of directly controlling her opponents.
If Ethan hadn’t possessed ocular abilities of his own, that look might have caught him.
As expected, none of the pinnacle races had become dominant by accident.
Velessa still seemed unable to accept that Ethan possessed a similar ability.
The Glamourkin were the only race on the Eldoria Continent with this power. It was precisely because of this ability that they had become one of the pinnacle races.
Seeing a human wield something similar was intolerable to her.
"This is the power of the Glamourkin!" Velessa shouted furiously. "What right does a human like you have to possess it?"
Countless streams of pink mist appeared around her and rolled toward Ethan. At the same time, her eyes released beams of pink light in his direction.
Ethan frowned.
None of that pink stuff looked safe. He had no intention of letting it touch him.
"Time to end this."
He activated Absolute Stasis and instantly appeared in front of Velessa. His poleaxe, shrouded in powerful black light, slammed into her chest.
It wasn’t because he had his eye on her enormous breasts. He needed Skinny Pete to extract her memories afterward and was worried that destroying her head might make that impossible.
Boom!
Her ample chest did little to cushion the impact. Ethan’s poleaxe tore a massive hole through her torso and shattered her heart. She was hurled backward and crashed heavily to the ground.
"Pfft!"
Velessa coughed up blood and slowly raised her head, staring at Ethan in horror.
"You even have... a time-type ability..."
Her head dropped.
She was dead.
"Skinny Pete, extract her memories," Ethan called.
"On it!"
Skinny Pete ran over, placed a hand on her head for a while, then returned.
"Boss, you really went all out. You smashed her chest apart," he muttered.
"..."
"You like them that much? She’s still got one left. Go feel it if you want."
"Uh, no thanks. I was just saying." Skinny Pete hurriedly waved his hands.
A moment later, however, his eyes began turning red. He kept glancing back at the body on the ground.
"Hm?"
Ethan quickly noticed something was wrong.
"Skinny Pete, what’s up with you?"
"N-Nothing." Skinny Pete shook his head, but explicit images kept flashing through his mind.
"No. Something’s definitely wrong with you."
Skinny Pete’s sudden change couldn’t escape Ethan’s notice.
Then he spotted the pink mist lingering around Velessa’s corpse, and his expression changed.
"Shit. That stuff didn’t disappear?"
Most of the mist had dispersed when Velessa died, but some of it was still clinging to her body.
Skinny Pete hadn’t noticed it when he ran over to extract her memories, and he had fallen victim to it.
"What happened?"
Chris and the others came over.
"Skinny Pete seems to have inhaled some kind of aphrodisiac mist," Ethan said with a frown.
"What?"
"Holy shit, seriously?" Big Mike ran over excitedly. "How does it feel? Do you really want to, you know—"
Thud!
Skinny Pete kicked him dozens of feet away.
His eyes were now bloodred, and he was already losing consciousness.
"Holy shit, Skinny Pete! You didn’t have to kick me that hard!" Big Mike climbed to his feet, looking furious.
"That’s enough, Big Mike. Skinny Pete isn’t in his right mind." Ethan turned to Emily. "Use Cleanse on him. See if it works."
"Okay."
Emily immediately cast Cleanse.
Fortunately, her skill proved effective.
As the cleansing light fell over Skinny Pete, his eyes quickly returned to normal, and the poison gradually faded from his body.
"What happened?" Skinny Pete asked, completely confused.
"What happened? You just kicked me!" Big Mike pointed at the footprint on his chest. "How are you going to make this up to me?"
"I kicked you?" Skinny Pete looked baffled. "When did I do that?"
"You had that coming," Sean said. "Be glad Ethan wasn’t the one who got dosed, or you’d have died before you knew what hit you."
"..."
"You really don’t remember what you did or said just now?" Ethan asked in surprise.
"No." Skinny Pete shook his head blankly.
"..."
"From now on, if we run into any more Glamourkin, avoid them whenever possible," Ethan said, still shaken.
They’d dodged a bullet. If Ethan had inhaled that mist instead, things could have gone very bad, very fast.
