Lin Xian is confined and monitored by Wen Zhuo of the Phoenix Society, who refuses to reveal the reasons for his isolation. Lin Xian expresses frustration, wanting to utilize his abilities and the South Heavenly Gate. He learns that if he sees his friends, they too will be monitored. Lin Xian then meets with Professor Ye, whose hair has turned white. Ye explains that the Phoenix Society was formed 76 years ago by her father to research doomsday prophecies detected in dark matter. The organization secretly prepared humanity for the apocalypse, but their efforts ultimately failed against the dark invasion. Ye reveals that the Foundation was originally part of the Phoenix Society but diverged due to a belief that humanity's defeat was inevitable and that a higher civilization would descend to save them. Lin Xian questions why they then turned towards seeking human extinction, and Ye states the answer lies with him.
