Lin Xian wakes up after surgery and is shocked to see the massive, ring-shaped city of Kunlun built on the Polar ice cap, protected by a mega-wall against endless monster tides. He learns this is humanity's last safe harbor, built by the Phoenix Society, but laments it won't be their final sanctuary due to the High Tower Civilization's plans. He is then approached by an elder named Li Heping.

Lin Xian reacted upon hearing, realizing the person in front of him was the commander-in-chief of the interstellar army, the second-in-command of the Phoenix Society!

But Lin Xian was somewhat puzzled at this moment; he didn't understand why, after waking up, his team members weren't around him, and the first person to see him was Li Heping.

"Hello, Commander Li."

"No need to be formal with me, even though this is our first meeting, I've known you for a long time," Li Heping said.

Lin Xian looked at him and asked,

"What's going on now?"

Li Heping's expression shifted slightly, he gestured to Lin Xian with his eyes: "The situation is very complicated, come with me and see."

Lin Xian didn't know what was happening, his expression was puzzled. He immediately followed Li Heping outside and found himself in a place resembling a research institute. Many staff and scientists stopped in their tracks upon seeing him, casting curious glances.

These glances made Lin Xian feel peculiar; some were curious, while others were complex, as if everyone knew him, yet the atmosphere seemed somewhat gloomy.

Soon after, they took an elevator to a high-platform area. As Lin Xian looked back towards the top of the giant wall, he discovered densely arranged super cannons—terrifying energy weapons spread as far as the eye could see, rendering humans insignificant before the cannon mounts.

"Initially, we believed these weapons could handle S-Class creatures."

Li Heping turned to Lin Xian, sighed, and said, "This is the most powerful and destructive equipment we could make, specifically developed based on the characteristics of the Abnormal Body."

Lin Xian nodded, "It seems effective, at least the deterrence capability is achieved."

Li Heping pointed to the sky, "Don't forget about this—Polar Day."

Lin Xian looked up; the transparent atmosphere allowed one to visibly gaze at the entire starry universe. The division between the black deep space and the light reflected by Blue Star's atmosphere was vivid, deeply impactful.

The scorching sunlight slanted onto the land, causing the previously oppressive feeling engulfed in darkness and thick fog to suddenly vanish.

Lin Xian took a deep breath and followed Li Heping onto a small transport aircraft, flying towards the starship base at Kunlun City's center.

On the way, Lin Xian saw the dense survivors within the city from the security zone below. Kunlun City, with tens of millions of inhabitants, was undeniably crowded, aggregating survivors from around the world, belonging to the fraction of a few thousand out of the ten billion people who lived.

Outside of here, there were no other survivors on Blue Star, yet even so, emotions within the residential area were not high.

Lin Xian saw hurried figures on every street, the interstellar army patrolling back and forth, and construction robots in many regions building new residences.

"These residences are standard modules under evacuation mode, too many people, for now, we can only ensure habitation, not comfort," Li Heping said as he saw Lin Xian looking outside, "allocated based on registered personal information—family, gender, but neither ethnicity nor nationality is distinguished, convoys or large organizations are dispersed."

"Is it to avoid organizational management difficulties?" Lin Xian asked.

Li Heping nodded, "There's that consideration, but no need to think too deeply; those who came here had exhausted everything, convoys, organizations have lost meaning. Everyone merely wants survival."

"Indeed..." Lin Xian asked, "What about my team members, where are they?"

Li Heping fell silent upon hearing, then spoke, "Your friends are all fine, don't worry, our main task now is to protect you."

"Protect me?" Lin Xian furrowed his brows, "Why?"

Li Heping raised his hand and pointed below, Lin Xian scanned with his gaze, discovering that as the transport ship skimmed the streets below, several masked individuals were using spray guns to graffiti on the walls. Lin Xian noticed then, those graffiti were mostly related to him...

[Kill Lin Xian!]

[Is one person's life important?]

[Lin Xian, humanity's sinner!]

[Coward!]

[For all humanity, crusade against Sword Holder Lin Xian!]

[Lin Xian dies, thousands live!]

As they advanced, the graffiti increased along the streets. Some had already been wiped out by robots, but many new writings remained.

These contents consistently bore Lin Xian's name.

Lin Xian grew increasingly alarmed, "What does this mean?"

"On the day the Joint Train reached the Polar, Kunlun City received an all-bandwidth message from the Foundation."

Li Heping spoke with a deepened tone, "They represented the High Tower Civilization and proposed an offer—to open the Heavenly Veil for humanity's escape, but the condition is..."

He looked at Lin Xian and slowly spoke, word by word.

"To kill you."

Lin Xian's expression froze, a chilling cold surged from his spine to the top of his head, he was full of confusion as he uttered,

"What?!"

"Don't worry," Li Heping gestured for him to calm down, then softly said, "This is merely a ploy by the Foundation, the purpose is to create internal chaos among us, the committee disregarded this message, and we won't agree to it."

Upon hearing this, Lin Xian deeply furrowed his eyebrows, "But... I don't understand, they represent the High Tower Civilization? How could the Foundation..."

Lin Xian's mind was in disarray; based on his analysis, the existence behind the Foundation couldn't possibly be the High Tower Civilization, so why suddenly send such a message?

"I know you have many questions, honestly we are similar to you."
