Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train Chapter 1146 - 441: Viola Returns (2)

"It looks totally blocked..." KIKI wrinkled her brow and quickly turned to Lin Xian, stating firmly, "I’ll dive down and clear it!"
"Allow me. My physique can endure that level of water pressure." Gedi, from Ryan’s group, volunteered right then, "I believe I can manage it."
"Hold on a second."
Lin Xian’s gaze sharpened. "Countless Abnormal Body remains are still sinking; safety isn’t guaranteed yet. Let me scout further."
Lin Xian promptly deployed additional drones, fanning them out to probe near the massive corpse. A few Deep Diving Devices ventured toward the sea cliff, and upon nearing it, odd noises filtered through Lin Xian’s control panel amid the water pressure’s rumble, growing thicker and more ominous by the second.
"That resembles Insect Tide sounds?" KIKI remarked, but the words had barely left her lips when a nightmarish sight unfolded before her eyes.
The ocean floor was a chaotic mess. Currents churned up silt, while mysterious stringy substances drifted in the currents, blocking the Deep Diving Device’s view entirely. Sight distance barely reached ten centimeters; one couldn’t even spot their own toes below. Strangely, the sea cliff stood serene, as though some enchantment had frozen the water against its face.
The moment the Deep Diving Device’s beams ignited, the screen revealed a shocking spectacle that left everyone speechless!
The cliff’s flanks bristled with craters and cavities, resembling swiss cheese riddled with holes of all sizes. Within each lurked a twisted beast coiled tight. Crowding the openings were countless crimson-black tentacles, infested with deep-sea maggots— a single look sent chills crawling over the scalp. As the light swept lower, merely five centimeters beneath the device stretched a writhing sea of those maggots!
"Looks like our assumption was off; plenty more lurk here..." Vanessa noted.
"These don’t appear freshly arrived; likely not the type that spreads the Dark Mark." Lin Xian analyzed solemnly, then glanced toward the distant black floating island hovering over the waves, "They act more like offspring from that hive."
Thump, thump, thump...
A series of chilling taps reverberated abruptly.
Lin Xian stared intently and noticed deep-sea maggots had slithered onto the Deep Diving Device, their grotesque mouthparts chomping relentlessly at its metal frame.
Suddenly, the feed went dark. Lin Xian swiftly commanded the device to tilt upward, revealing a colossal anglerfish looming overhead in the depths. This behemoth bristled with bizarre tentacles.
Those tentacles stretched long, undulating like kelp in the flow, yet all onlookers recognized it as a Special Level anomaly without doubt!
In a flash, the anglerfish gaped wide, unveiling a horrifying gullet lined with layers of razor teeth like steel. Instantly, it engulfed every Deep Diving Device scouting the cliff.
Sizzle...
Lin Xian’s monitor warped and flickered, locking on the creature’s vast belly. Green digestive juices cascaded down, melting the Deep Diving Device on contact and severing the link for good.
This horrifying display thickened the air with dread. If a human explorer had descended and gotten devoured, that might’ve been survivable. The real terror lay in risking another Dark Mark, unleashing fresh havoc across these waters.
"Phew..."
Lin Xian let out a heavy breath, his voice weighted. "This sea zone teems with far too many beasts. Never thought they’d return so fast; looks like... we must scrap the energy leak strategy."
Lin Xian’s declaration drew complicated looks from all, Hawk Sea Group included, everyone grasping their dire straits. Then Azir advanced and voiced his thought.
"No time left then. Better to gamble and break through now in daylight than wait for the device to spiral fully and trigger Galan Volcano’s eruption!"
"Daylight? After that mess, does day or night even count?" Gedi replied somberly.
"So what’s the plan—sit here awaiting doom?" Azir shot back in despair.
Ryan lifted a hand to hush Azir, then turned to Lin Xian.
"Lin, your thoughts?"
Lin Xian hesitated, thoughts whirling. Absent a superior plan, Azir’s bold charge was their sole path. Yet even rushing forward meant dodging Sea Rock Island perils, then locating a shore along the shattered sea route sans satellite guidance—a massive hurdle indeed.
After careful consideration, Lin Xian chose to head back to the Infinity city-region first for more discussions.
Right then, a thunderous sonic boom rang out from the faraway storm clouds, causing everyone to snap their heads up in alarm. The noise intensified as it approached through the rumbling clouds, and just as all assumed a monster was incoming, a voice Lin Xian knew well crackled through his headset.
[This is Viola, descending over the Chasan Island sea area.]
The instant Lin Xian caught those words, his eyes sparkled with excitement, a wave of relief escaping him as he reassured the group, "Don’t worry, it’s my people."
Whoosh!
His words had barely landed when the ear-splitting rush of air tearing apart boomed relentlessly. From the skies overhead, a blazing rocket trail pierced the clouds, chased by a buzzing flock of drones like angry bees.
Bang!
Amid the crash against the earth, Viola stepped out of the swirling dust, heat still shimmering off her as she powered down her flight gear. With bold assurance, she marched up to Lin Xian, holding her head high.
