Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train Chapter 1132 - 433: Separate Incidents
The geothermal magma well before us is raging intensely, with the massive locator standing like a stabilizing pillar, making it difficult not to associate this place with the underwater volcano that Ryan mentioned earlier.
Lin Xian immediately thought that this thing might be directly related to the movements of the underwater volcano.
"KIKI, according to the time calculated by the Phoenix Society earlier, how long would it take for the expansion speed of the 8th Star Abyss to cover Sea Rock Island?"
Leaning against a corner of the locator device in the scorching geothermal cave, Lin Xian was conducting a Mechanical Scan when something suddenly struck him.
Floating in the air, KIKI quickly responded after hearing Lin Xian’s words: "For Sea Rock Island, 9 days and 18 hours. Based on the calculations up to now, this shouldn’t be a threat, right?"
Lin Xian was silent for a moment, realizing that all the data had been calculated in advance before leaving shore, and his thoughts were somewhat disordered, attempting to find something related to the countdown he had seen. But listening to KIKI’s remark, it seemed there was no connection.
"Lin Xian, have you been encountering something?"
KIKI deactivated the nanotech armor, perceptively looking at Lin Xian and asked: "Did Chen Yanshu do something to you initially, why did you suddenly faint?"
Lin Xian also deactivated his Power Armor and took a deep breath before responding
"I don’t know what he did, but I seemed to have encountered the situation of the mysterious radio before."
KIKI was instantly surprised: "What? Were you transported to some space again?"
Lin Xian shook his head: "No, but it feels similar. It’s all related to the Taboo Item. My consciousness was pulled by the Flashing Bullet, and I seemed to have seen something in the universe, and then... a countdown appeared before my eyes."
The scan of the Deep-3 Nuclear Thermal Inducer is a major project, requiring at least 7 to 8 hours to fully understand its structure. However, Lin Xian wasn’t planning to sleep, and now, with KIKI bringing it up, he straightforwardly shared the situation in front of him.
"A countdown?!"
"Yes, I have been looking into it for a while, and there’s approximately 34 hours left. Currently, I’m uncertain about what this countdown signifies or who placed it in my line of sight, but it doesn’t seem to be a good omen. Additionally... you remember that 1000-ton Metal Dice we picked up at Taku Deep Water Port, I found its numbers often flip uncontrollably. I noticed, perhaps by coincidence, the four numbers I saw matched the countdown time exactly, 34:14, damn it..."
Upon hearing this, KIKI’s expression subtly changed, quickly moving closer to Lin Xian’s face, staring into his eyes for a while before saying
"Didn’t see anything unusual, are you sure it’s in your eyes?"
Lin Xian shrugged: "If it’s not in my eyes, then it’s in my brain. Regardless, this is not an illusion."
"I understand." KIKI furrowed her brow and folded her arms in thought: "Knowing you, you don’t see coincidences as coincidences, do you?"
Lin Xian nodded.
"Yes."
"Then do you know how often that Metal Dice flips?" KIKI suddenly inquired.
Lin Xian was taken aback, having truly not considered this: "I haven’t paid attention, I just glance at it occasionally, and the time varies. I just happened to notice it."
"So strange?" KIKI immediately said: "Why don’t you take it out, and I’ll keep an eye on it."
"Why?"
KIKI tilted her head: "You got the next number, just see if it synchronizes with your countdown. If it does, we can discuss it together; if not, perhaps they are two separate events, at least solving one problem for you."
Lin Xian’s mind cleared as he looked at KIKI and said, "Hey, smart, all my attention has been on this countdown, with strange things popping up everywhere, making me feel quite dizzy."
Having said that, he immediately used the magnetically-controlled mechanical arm to take out the Metal Dice. KIKI took it using her Telekinesis; both of them looked and indeed found the numbers on the Metal Dice changed to a new number.
Last time it was 4; this time, it had changed to 6.
"6."
KIKI looked at Lin Xian, while Lin Xian was looking at the countdown in his sight.
33:48:01
This time, the number didn’t correlate with Lin Xian’s countdown, leaving him bewildered. Could this truly be a coincidence?
"The numbers don’t match this time."
"That implies they’re two matters." KIKI looked cautiously at the Metal Dice floating in her palm and said: "Now we need to consider why this supermassive Metal Dice, clearly not a Blue Star creation, changes direction. Can someone manipulate it remotely?"
"Also, the dice have only six sides, with six numbers. It shouldn’t match with the countdown after all, what if numbers like 7, 8, or 9 appear."
Lin Xian chuckled: "I considered that before; I just felt a bit uncanny when the numbers matched."
"Lin Xian, wearing this thing, don’t you feel unsafe?" KIKI at this moment looked at Lin Xian and asked a question.
Lin Xian took a breath: "If keeping it in my Mechanical Space isn’t safe, then I’m unsure what other methods could be."
"Alright."
KIKI’s eyes flickered, saying: "I feel that this countdown may not necessarily portend something bad."
"What do you mean?" Lin Xian asked.
KIKI raised a finger: "First, using your logic, if the Dark Civilization wants to kill you, logically, they wouldn’t give you a countdown, right."
"Correct." Lin Xian nodded.
"An apocalypse countdown?" KIKI asked.
"Uncertain, but can this apocalypse get any more apocalyptic?" Lin Xian retorted.
"Indeed." KIKI’s eyes sparkled confidently: "Since this countdown showed itself, it indicates there’s a forecast for you about something happening when it ends, and you surely want to know what it is. This might just be a reminder."
Lin Xian’s expression solidified after hearing this, immediately understanding KIKI’s logic.
A forecast, a reminder!
Forecast of what?
Reminder of what?
Lin Xian’s thoughts deepened as he looked at the scanning light screen before him, softly saying: "The time is the morning after tomorrow, judging by the timeline, it could be just at dawn."
"Where will we be at that time?" KIKI asked.
"We..." Lin Xian looked at her: "Tomorrow I must find a way to leave this island..."
After saying that, he paused slightly, suddenly recalling the internal and external changes caused by the time dilation effect within Star Abyss No.5.
First, however, he needs to figure out this device, and then intends to, after daylight, try finding some traces of the Hawk Sea Group, looking for Ryan. Perhaps he’ll gain some new intel.
Then he pondered: "But it’s possible we won’t be able to leave."
"What?" KIKI saw Lin Xian seemingly talking to himself, appearing somewhat puzzled.
Just at this moment, when Lin Xian announced his previous words, neither noticed that the Metal Dice in KIKI’s hand changed silently.
The number changed from 6 to 5!
