Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 2309: Who to bring and who not to (2)
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
Yangos usually loved to join in the fun. There was no reason for it to be absent from an occasion like this, yet now it was nowhere to be seen.
"It's probably hiding out." Liu Zhenghong said with a smile.
The evil dragon had become one of her few sources of everyday amusement.
Ye Zhongming closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them. About half a minute later, there was a loud crash from outside, and a massive shadow blocked the window. Then, a huge dragon head poked through the window, and Yangos said with a sycophantic expression, "My esteemed master, your humble little dragon is right here."
Many people lowered their heads and covered their faces.
This was a dragon—even if it was a Western dragon, it was well known to everyone, and in any novel or movie, dragons were at the top of the food chain.
Now, its forehead clearly bore a level-nine magic crystal, forming a stark contrast with its fawning expression—an unbearable sight.
Everyone wondered: how could a dragon make such human-like expressions? And so accurately!
"Your strength has been growing a bit slowly." Ye Zhongming glanced at it and said.
Yangos's evolution had always been smooth, generally among the first to evolve at each level, and it was no slouch at level nine either.
In theory, even if Yangos's Furelai wasn't the highest at Cloud Peak, it should have been relatively high. But in fact, not only had Yellow Ball, which had always been on par with it, pulled ahead, even Jiubao, who had evolved not long ago, was threatening to surpass it.
This showed that after reaching top-tier, Yangos simply hadn't been training properly.
Ye Zhongming could tolerate weakness, but he would never tolerate a lack of ambition.
"Have you been living too comfortably at Cloud Peak?" Ye Zhongming said this with a smile, but to everyone else's ears, there was a chill in his words.
Yangos trembled outright, lowering its head even further. Afraid of damaging the villa's walls, the evil dragon arched its entire body outside.
"Master, let me explain! I've been doing this for Cloud Peak's long-term future! You don't know, but I have a vision—to one day command the War Beast Legion myself. But how could I do that better? I racked my brains and finally came up with a brilliant plan!"
"I'll fill the War Beast Legion with my descendants, each commanding a part, so I can better control the whole legion and maximize combat effectiveness!"
Outside, Yangos was clawing at the air, and if not for the window, it would have been gesticulating wildly while expounding on its grand vision.
"So, you're going to have many descendants soon?"
Ye Zhongming asked slowly, sipping his soybean milk.
Yangos blinked frantically. "Yes, yes! My esteemed master, in just three years—no, two—no, one year—my descendants can be added to the War Beast Legion! Though their juvenile period can't compare to mine, you have to believe in dragon blood! In a few years, Cloud Peak will have a whole host of new level-nine beings!"
Ye Zhongming said nothing, finishing his soybean milk, then looked at Liu Zhenghong. "Sister Hong, turn it into a dedicated breeding stock. The number of offspring it produces per unit of time should be higher than if it did it itself, right?"
"At least five times more." Liu Zhenghong answered readily.
"Then I'll trouble you, Sister Hong."
"You're welcome."
Yangos's face turned pale, instantly going from a fire dragon to a "snow" dragon.
"M-most, most, most esteemed master... I, um, I..."
"If you don't want to be turned into a breeding machine fixed to the ground, then go up with me through the smuggling route." Ye Zhongming said calmly.
"I obey any command!"
Yangos's heart was bitter.
Why had it hidden away? Because it didn't want to go up to the sky with Ye Zhongming! Though it wasn't an all-powerful existence at Cloud Peak, and occasionally got beaten up by Yellow Ball, the Undead Ichthyosaur, or the Giant Mottled Bear, everywhere else it could do whatever it wanted, completely free and unchecked—bullying, lording over others, no one dared to stop it.
Going up there, where it was said that level-nine was the weakest—wasn't that suicide?
Ye Zhongming kicked Yangos in the face, cutting off the evil dragon's reminiscence of its former good life, and told it to get lost.
"Originally, Mo Ye should have been the most suitable to go up through the entry ticket route, but this time, stay behind. Right now, you've been a nine-star the longest and have the highest Furelai at Cloud Peak. We need someone like you to hold the fort."
Ye Zhongming's gaze shifted to another side, looking at the woman who had quietly contributed to Cloud Peak since the start of the apocalypse—one of his most trusted people.
Mo Ye smiled at that. "Of course, no problem. You know I'm not really interested in pioneering or anything like that. I'd rather stay here and protect this place—the villa we all built together. If possible, I'll stay on Earth forever. When things are peaceful here, I'll take a trip up there to have a look."
Mo Ye's current Furelai was higher than others', though not yet at the Demon Whale's level. But give her time, and it wouldn't be difficult.
Ye Zhongming believed that on this Earth, those who could reach Mo Ye's level through normal evolution would be extremely rare—a "needle in a haystack."
That "needle in a haystack" included mutated plants, animals, and parasites.
And this time, when Ye Zhongming returned, he had already arranged for a batch of supplies to be sent to Cloud Peak through normal channels. Among them were items specially prepared for Mo Ye. With those, even against the Demon Whale, this woman could put up a fight.
"The remaining two entry ticket slots: one will go to someone from the Chameleon side, and the last one goes to Xia Bai."
Ye Zhongming directly announced the answer, surprising many.
The slot for the Chameleon was no surprise. Over the years of development, Cloud Peak's secret intelligence network—the Chameleon line—had become something far beyond its former self.
Now, aside from Xia Lei and the Chameleon's mysterious director, perhaps even Ye Zhongming didn't know exactly how large the Chameleon had grown. The power they held exceeded any single Cloud Peak main combat battalion—even several combined.
Their top-tier strength was guessed by many to be at least three, possibly more. The only one who had appeared publicly in several battles was Zhao Xiangxue. But don't forget, the Operations Team also had a captain, said to be the real one, who should also be a nine-star. And the Intelligence Department—the one everyone called the mysterious director—if they weren't a nine-star, no one would believe it.
But... the last ticket—letting Xia Bai go?
She was the leader of the Red Female Guard! If she left, what would happen to the Red Female Guard? Could Xiao Min and Dai Zhi replace Xia Bai's position?
But Ye Zhongming quickly gave the answer.
"The rest of the Red Female Guard will leave with me through the smuggling route."
