Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 2207: Energy barrier
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
"I'm exhausted these past few days."
As soon as a Huo'er Star warrior entered the tent, he took off his armor and threw it on the ground. His whole body crashed onto the cot with a thud, while he kept pressing his aching head.
These past few days, the Huo'er Star people had taken the initiative to attack, continuously clearing out the monsters on the surrounding mountain peaks. Although they had many people, the terrain of Black Book Absolute Peak was special. A single hunt, from main attack to secondary attack to support to sentry, required nearly tens of thousands of people. Everyone had experienced several large-scale hunts during this period. Casualties were naturally not small, but for most people, the most difficult thing was the exhaustion.
There was physical exhaustion and mental exhaustion.
"I don't know what the higher-ups are trying to do. There's still quite some time before the hunting ends. Why are they in such a hurry? The previous strategy was actually very good. We just waited here for those flying lifeforms to attack, then counterattacked with our numbers and various defensive weapons. It was easy and safe."
Another person sat to the side, wiping his weapon, and answered casually.
"I always feel that the higher-ups have some big plan. I just don't know what it is."
The Huo'er Star people were a super-large clan, and the treatment for their warriors was very good. A spacious tent housed four people. The speaker was the third person, and only the three of them were in the tent. The fourth person was not there.
"I heard..." The warrior who had just returned and lay down on the bed suddenly flipped over, his eyes burning with gossip. "It seems something has happened to our prince."
Seeing that the other two were a bit stunned and looked at him with some disbelief, he quickly lowered his voice and said, "Haven't you noticed that His Highness Zi Mu hasn't appeared for several days? Why did we suddenly change our strategy during the days he has been missing? Also..."He seemed to have his own intelligence sources. Leaning close to his two companions, he continued, "It's not just His Highness Zi Mu who has disappeared. The people who followed him have also vanished! In a place that is temporarily isolated from the outside world, how else can this be explained except that something has happened?"
He licked his lips, as if imagining what kind of earthquake the development of this matter would cause. Slightly excited, he continued, "Haven't you noticed that quite a few people are missing from the camp? At least several thousand. They are all good at reconnaissance. Several great experts have also disappeared. In this situation, if you say nothing has happened, who would believe it?"
Listening to this person, the other two thought about it and felt that something was indeed not right.
"Puduza! Puduza!"
As the three were about to continue their discussion, a voice suddenly called out from outside the tent. The well-informed person immediately jumped up and answered loudly.
The person calling him was his squad leader.
"Come with me. Kunzuo wants to see you."
Puduza almost fell to his knees.
He stepped out of the tent, looked at his squad leader, and stammered, "Kunzuo... wants to see... me?"
He was just an ordinary warrior, nothing more. And who was Kunzuo? He was one of the most powerful figures among all the Huo'er Star people, the strongest person here. The gap between the two was vast.
"If I tell you to come, then come. Why ask so many questions?" The squad leader rebuked him and took him to the central area of the camp, where Kunzuo's tent was located.
Entering the tent, Puduza relaxed a little. He saw many people of similar status to him there. It probably was not because of his big mouth that he was in trouble.
"All of you, confirm whether these places are places you passed during the hunts in recent days."
The exalted Kunzuo waved his hand, and someone immediately passed a map to these people. Puduza and the others quickly lowered their heads to examine it. Each of them found the locations of their hunts these past days and their marching routes.
After everyone had confirmed, Kunzuo finally spoke, "All of you, did you notice anything unusual on the roads you passed?"
This question left everyone confused.
No purpose, no target. What unusual things?
Several of them, perhaps wanting to perform well in front of Kunzuo, mentioned a few points, such as some mutated lifeforms, some weather and climate phenomena, and so on. They did not sound right at all.
Kunzuo shook his head and asked again, "Did you discover any people from other races? Or... things similar to formations?"
Everyone looked at each other and then shook their heads.
They had indeed not discovered anything related to this.
"All of you may leave."
Kunzuo had these people leave, somewhat disappointed, then sat in his chair and was deep in thought.
"You... what exactly are you worried about? Do you need us to go and check personally?"
A great expert below looked at Kunzuo and said.
Kunzuo shook his head. After a long moment, he said, "I have felt a bit unsettled these past few days. I always have a vague feeling that something is going to happen, as if some kind of power is slowly gathering around us. But I went out to look around twice and found nothing."
The several great experts below naturally would not think that Kunzuo was being paranoid. His level determined that even his feelings would not be without cause.
"Tell everyone that when they go out recently, they should pay more attention to their surroundings. Also, the information from the reconnaissance squads sent to the various races should be organized and analyzed as quickly as possible to see if there are any..."
Kunzuo suddenly stopped here, then frowned, as if sensing something.
"Not right. Not right!"
The first 'not right' was still very low. By the time he said the second 'not right', Kunzuo had already stood up.
His body moved, and he was out of the tent, hovering above the camp. His eyes swept sharply over the surroundings. Then his expression changed. A longbow appeared in his hand, translucent like a red crystal. He aimed at a direction and shot an arrow.
This arrow had no visible form, yet its existence could be felt. It made no sound, yet it left ripple-like shockwaves in the sky it passed through. Looking up from the camp, it seemed as if the sky had been torn apart.
From the moment Kunzuo made his move, almost in an instant, this arrow covered half the camp and reached the edge. Normally, it should have continued flying out, but it suddenly stopped in mid-air, slowly revealing the arrow shaft, as if something had blocked it.
At the same time, around the peak where the Huo'er Star people's camp was located, enormous transparent energy walls suddenly rose, enveloping the entire camp!
At the top, they seemed to connect to the sky directly!
Everyone in the Huo'er Star camp ran out, looking at this scene in disbelief, not knowing what these shimmering energy walls were.
"Look! There's someone there!"
A voice shouted. Everyone looked over. Directly above the camp, a human figure was hovering in the sky. His position was the very center of these enormous energy walls.
Kunzuo had already spotted him. He drew his bow a second time and shot an arrow at that figure. He had already recognized him. It was the Su Clan elder, Huozhi!
But just as this arrow was shot, a wisp of gray mist appeared in the sky, like a tornado connecting heaven and earth. It penetrated the space enclosed by these energy walls, passed through Huozhi's body, and pressed directly down toward the Huo'er Star people's camp!
That arrow, after going against this gray energy for a few seconds, exhausted its momentum and fell.
