Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 2178: Coffin

“What to do?”
White-Robe licked his lips and asked his companion beside him in a low voice.
“Of course, go down and take a look.” Ye Zhongming chuckled and said, “Otherwise, there’s nothing else to do, right?”
The other two nodded in agreement.
That was how it was. They were now trapped in this unknown place, surrounded by who knew how many parasitic insects that might attack them at any time.
Under such circumstances, any change was good for them, even if danger lay behind it.
“It’s a bit high and dark. Jumping straight down won’t work. If we go down along the cave wall, we’ll most likely encounter danger.”
The three of them were now located in the middle of the entire mountain. If they didn’t want to jump directly down, they could only go down along the stone wall. With their abilities, this ordinarily wouldn’t be a big deal, but there were simply too many caves leading to this place. While descending, they might very well be attacked by creatures from some cave. At that time, being in mid-air was not the same as being on the ground, and the danger would increase significantly, which was why Jie Su said this.
“It seems climbing down the cave wall is also somewhat difficult.” White-Robe leaned his body out to take a look, then pointed to the side and said.
The other two also looked and found that the cave wall was unexpectedly smooth, not like stone at all, but like metal, and metal that had been oiled.Jie Su stabbed at it a few times with a dagger and found that it required tremendous force to break through a little barely. To insert it for leverage, they would probably need to exert full effort.
This obviously dashed their idea of going down that way.
Ye Zhongming shook his head and directly released White Dragon Horse. This was the one advantage of it becoming a war beast: it could be freely stored in the war beast space.
“It really fucking stinks.”
As soon as White Dragon Horse came out, it said this, leaving Jie Su and White-Robe momentarily stunned. In their impression, this renegade dragon clan member had always been a bit aloof.
“You’d smell the same if you didn’t bathe.” Ye Zhongming retorted. “Take us down.”
Saying this, he and Jie Su each grabbed one of White Dragon Horse’s claws, and together they held onto White-Robe. The one dragon and three people began flying downward.
Once in mid-air, their field of sight broadened considerably. They noticed that in the surrounding caves, many contained living creatures. These creatures watched the intruders coldly but made no extra moves.
“It seems not all species have devolved their eyes.” Ye Zhongming murmured.
“Why aren’t they attacking us? Because they can’t fly?” This was White-Robe’s question. Logically speaking, whether mutated creatures or parasites, the number of flying individuals in a population should be about a quarter. With them now in the air, this should have been the best time for an attack.
“I’m just wondering why they are so quiet. Is it because of… this strange cave?” Jie Su focused more on the strange structure below. He felt that place was probably the reason the surrounding creatures weren’t coming out to attack them.
Ye Zhongming nodded, but at this moment, he didn’t know whether the situation was good or bad. He could only take one step at a time.
Driven by White Dragon Horse, the three quickly landed near the lamp ball they had thrown down earlier. This place was not too far from the platform ahead.
“Metal ground, metal structure… What place is this?” White-Robe held up the lamp ball and looked around in shock and uncertainty.
When they were above, they hadn’t felt much, but now that they were below, they had only one feeling.
Majestic!
The cosmic races had indeed created many, many majestic structures. Those survivor fortresses were the greatest examples.
Besides those, cities of some super races like Su City, and the Library Palace, and so on—these were all highly representative structures. Not to mention majestic—no words would be too excessive to describe them.
But this place, though not large in area, still gave people this feeling even in the dim environment.
When many qualities like primitive, mysterious, and ancient were combined, it made people feel insignificant by comparison.
“Seems rough, but is actually exquisite. Seems crude, but is actually delicate. Seems ordinary, but is actually fine.” Jie Su inspected the area and couldn’t help but praise.
He was a formation master and had considerable ability to appreciate and study such totem-like arrangements in a place.
Even he was conquered by the structure here, which showed its extraordinariness.
“Can you tell what it is?” Ye Zhongming, afraid of any accidents, did not dare to act rashly and asked Jie Su.
The genius of the Su Clan shook his head. “Can’t tell what it is. There are some patterns and characters on it. I don’t know if they are words, but I don’t recognize them.”
The three could only scout around the area… under the gaze of who knew how many creatures above.
It was a huge elliptical metal plate that filled the entire mountain. At the very center were those few curved metal pillars and the platform beneath.
“Go up?” White-Robe looked at the platform and asked.
“We definitely have to go up.” Ye Zhongming sighed.
No problems were found elsewhere. Only that platform remained unchecked. Whether it worked or not, they had to go up.
“I’ll go first.” Jie Su walked forward.
The unknown often represents danger and uncertainty. Jie Su was trying to take all the danger upon his own shoulders.
He raised his hand to stop the other two and slowly walked to the platform’s side.
Up close, Jie Su still couldn’t be sure what material this was. If he had to say, he would lean toward it being bony—smooth, ice-cool. The patterns and designs on it were consistent with the ground.
He walked two circles around the platform, then squatted to examine part of its side carefully. After a moment, he said, “This looks like a box.”
Seeing there was no immediate danger, Ye Zhongming and White-Robe walked over to the platform. The three lamp balls were raised together and brought near the spot Jie Su had pointed out. Indeed, there was a very indistinct line there, likely the boundary between the upper and lower parts.
Only, no matter how Ye Zhongming looked at it, this thing didn’t seem like a box, but it was more like a… coffin.
By Earth standards, this was undoubtedly very unlucky.
The three now faced another question that basically had only one answer: open it or not?
This time, White-Robe did the deed, while the other two stood by. Although the Silver Order Leader couldn’t fight yet, his strength was still enough to open this coffin—no, box.
The lid slowly opened, gradually revealing the inside. The friction between the upper and lower parts made some noise that, in the dim and quiet environment, sent chills down their spines.
As the lid opened wider and wider, the three focused their gaze inside. At first, there seemed to be something glittering, but it was only a flash and then gone.
When the lid was most of the way open, White-Robe suddenly let go, and Jie Su and Ye Zhongming also pulled at him from both sides to step back.
But it was a bit late. The lid, no longer held by White-Robe, deliberately hung in mid-air. Inside, four faint misty shadows appeared, forming the shape of hands. Without anyone knowing when, they had already grasped the necks of Ye Zhongming, Jie Su, White-Robe, and White Dragon Horse in mid-air!
