Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 2079: Technology from above
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
The eggshell shattered.
Along with its dragon horns and body scales, Yangos was utterly broken.
For its final assault, Yangos poured all its might.
The vile dragon now grasped the dire situation: failure to escape meant not only the demise of Xia Lei, Talking Lady, and the others, but its own certain end as well. It also understood the hunger of these grotesque green-skinned fiends.
Thus, this ultimate attack saw Yangos unleashing the full power of its formidable dragon form.
Miraculously, it succeeded.
The oppressive gray miasma vanished, and a brief, stunned silence fell upon the entire battlefield!
"Regardless of the final outcome, exterminate every single one of these encroaching parasites!"
Guangyao's voice boomed through the Battle Contribution Badge. His desperate cry stemmed from a fear of complete annihilation – if Xia Lei had already fallen, he needed to prevent an utter catastrophe. The number of these parasitic beings was comparable to the human evolved ranks. Should a collapse occur, a brutal massacre would ensue. The bulk of Cloud Peak's elite forces were concentrated here. If the absolute worst transpired, Cloud Peak would plummet from its prominent position, reduced to merely a first-rate power. In such a scenario, the entire nation would undoubtedly unite to consume Cloud Peak.
If Xia Lei perished, but they annihilated all these parasites, Cloud Peak might yet salvage a chance to recover. As long as they could hold out until Ye Zhongming's return, a brighter future would dawn.
"If Xia Lei still lives, that is our primary objective."
"If Xia Lei has made the ultimate sacrifice, then we fight for vengeance."
Guangyao's words resonated, instilling a sense of unwavering faith, bringing a measure of calm to everyone.
However, abruptly, ear-splitting roars erupted from the command center's vicinity. Cloud Peak's aerial forces, nearly their entire contingent, plunged frantically towards a single point. The Cloud Peak cavalry units, having reached the periphery and already engaged in chaotic skirmishes, carved a path. Little Tiger, expending nearly all his strength in a single, decisive strike, accelerated their charge.
Guangyao instantly grasped the significance of the event.
"Xia Lei is unharmed; annihilate these abominable creatures!"
This declaration served as a more potent catalyst than any previous command. The entire Cloud Peak force was revitalized, their combat effectiveness seemingly surging with renewed vigor.
"Thankfully, I'm not dead."
Xia Lei's voice echoed within the Battle Contribution Badge, eliciting thunderous cheers from all Cloud Peak warriors.
At this precise moment, Deacon Tong stood beside Xia Lei, wisps of smoke elegantly curling from his fingertips. He appeared to be casually sketching, and the smoke swirled around him, expanding outward in successive rings. Any green-skinned monstrosity that encroached upon these smoke rings was violently repelled, the points of contact mangled and bloodied.
Before beings of the highest echelon, those of lesser standing were rendered insignificant.
The instant the eggshell fractured, Deacon Tong had utilized his unique ability to reach Xia Lei's side. At that critical juncture, the weaponry of Cloud Peak's Black-Hearted Queen had been disarmed, leaving her to rely solely on her bare fists to defend herself. The other top-tier life forms present, who had not succumbed to unconsciousness, were also fighting with only their physical bodies. Despite their occasional counter-offensives managing to fell numerous green-skinned monsters, they were nonetheless on the precipice of being overwhelmed.
Deacon Tong's intervention secured their survival.
Mere seconds later, Little Tiger also broke away from his engagement, guiding his level-eight war pet towards their location.
With the protection of two supreme-tier life forms and the reinforcement of numerous Cloud Peak sky riders converging around them, the peril faced by Xia Lei and her companions was definitively transformed into safety.
Unless some unforeseen miracle occurred – such as a supremely powerful entity instantly dispatching two nine-star evolved beings – a dramatic reversal of fortune was virtually impossible.
Xia Lei's continued existence provided a stabilizing anchor for the entire Cloud Peak operational system. Guangyao no longer needed to divert all resources toward the rescue effort; consequently, he began issuing a continuous stream of orders, focusing on stabilizing the overall situation, securing the magic crystal cannon emplacements, and other critical tasks.
Despite Xia Lei's personal safety, she was temporarily incapable of resuming command responsibilities.
It was at this point that Cloud Peak's significant advantage in possessing numerous top-tier life forms began to manifest more clearly.
While Talking Lady, the black cat Yellow Ball, Yangos, Red Hair, the Undead Dragonfish, and Zhao Xiangxue were all unable to actively participate in the battle, there remained Liang Chuyin, Mo Ye, Deacon Tong, Little Tiger, and the Death King Tree – a formidable assembly of five top-tier life forms. In contrast, among the parasitic horde, aside from their elusive leader, no other top-tier combatants remained.
Consequently, the tide of battle began to decisively shift in favor of Cloud Peak, a transformation that became increasingly pronounced. Ultimately, the remaining green-skinned monsters outside the city, who had posed a substantial threat to Cloud Peak's forces, began a strategic withdrawal from the battlefield, effectively signaling the conclusive end of this intense engagement.
The relentless pursuit of the scattered parasites by Cloud Peak's warriors would certainly not cease. Their mission was to hunt down every last one or ensure their complete escape.
"You couldn't locate it?"
After a day and night of rest and taking medicine, Xia Lei's condition had largely stabilized. Her injuries were not critical, and the recovery period was adequate.
The green-skinned monsters began to withdraw from the conflict. Aware that the peculiar three-tailed entity might be among them, Cloud Peak commenced a persistent pursuit. Little Tiger and Mo Ye each took command of their respective units, initiating aerial and ground chases.
However, after more than two full days, both Little Tiger and Mo Ye returned, reporting an inability to track the enemy. This news surprised Xia Lei, who remained to oversee the cleanup of the battlefield.
The mobility of Cloud Peak's cavalry was second only to its air force. Despite incorporating reconnaissance data from the air force, they still managed to lose the trail.
"We pursued them for a day and a night. On the second day, they plunged into a swamp veiled in dense fog. By the time we caught up, they had deployed fifty thousand green-skinned monsters as a rear guard. After we dealt with them, we were unable to locate the main force. There were no signs of them on the far side of the swamp, nor anything within it; it was as if they had vanished into thin air."
Little Tiger conveyed this with a frown. He harbored a strong desire to complete the mission. Witnessing the dire state of Yangos, Yellow Ball, and other top-tier life forms, he yearned to confront the hidden leader personally. Regrettably, the leader had evaded them through some unknown means.
"How many managed to escape?"
When these green-skinned monsters had initially retreated, their numbers were approximately three hundred thousand.
"Likely only about one hundred thousand remain," Mo Ye estimated after a moment of consideration.
Xia Lei pondered the situation. "Rest for now. Since they've escaped, let them go. After a half-day respite, your units should also join the pursuit... The presence of too many external teams not affiliated with Cloud Peak is becoming problematic. The current situation is rather disorganized; they chase without a clear strategy, and some units have already sustained heavy losses from counterattacks."
Nearly four days had elapsed from the battle's commencement to the present, yet the pursuit persisted. The non-Cloud Peak teams, energized by the apparent victory, relentlessly pursued the fleeing parasites. Xia Lei and Guangyao had to assign most Cloud Peak teams to battlefield cleanup, allowing only a select few with superior mobility to gather intelligence and offer support to these independent teams.
Nevertheless, instances of counterattacks and subsequent losses remained frequent.
Little Tiger and Mo Ye acknowledged Xia Lei's directives with nods before departing from her tent.
An additional three days transpired, marking the effective conclusion of the pursuit. A comprehensive post-battle report was subsequently submitted to Xia Lei.
