Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 2075: Attack show (2)
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
Previously, Xia Lei wielded six floating cannons; now, she commanded seven, representing the pinnacle of this equipment set's state.
Following the unleashing of knife lights, the six floating cannons commenced their barrage, their thumping sounds imbued with a distinct rhythm.
This very rhythm, at specific junctures, could signify a death knell.
It had been an considerable time since Xia Lei last engaged in direct combat. Even within Cloud Peak, the veteran members hadn't witnessed this pillar of their organization fight for an extended period... primarily because no situation had arisen that necessitated Xia Lei's personal intervention.
They were aware of Xia Lei's formidable combat strength, acknowledging it as merely 'strong'.
In reality, however, Xia Lei's power far surpassed common perception.
While she might bestow items like a nine-star evolution potion upon others, Cloud Peak possessed an abundance of resources beyond just top-tier evolution potions; their wealth extended to numerous other valuable assets.
Regardless of Xia Lei's inherent selflessness, the provisions allocated to her were sufficient to forge her into a formidable force. Furthermore, as both a commander and a strategist, she had the prerogative to select what best suited her needs.
This very armor represented her prior selection, now enhanced and upgraded.
The damage coefficient for each strike from a floating cannon was calculated by summing all her physical attributes, then multiplying by her level, yielding the final damage output.
Armaments capable of ascending from lesser grades to the coveted purple-grade were anything but ordinary.
And Xia Lei's physical attributes... not exclusively hers, but those of Ye Zhongming's consorts as well, were exceptionally potent, all having been augmented through the consumption of various high-level elixirs. The underlying reason for this... well, ahem.
Consequently, each projectile from the floating cannons delivered immense power. It was precisely due to this extraordinary force that the cannons were limited to firing a mere seven times.
Xia Lei's distinctive dual blades were an evolved form of the Wailing Twin Blades, also classified as purple-grade equipment. The spectral blade shadows were a manifestation of this weapon's inherent abilities.
When the Twin Blades were at the blue grade, they possessed five distinct skills: Support, Shadow Slash, Wild Dance, Wail, and Tear Spirit.
Upon their upgrade to purple grade, the equipment's core attributes received a significant boost. For instance, the passive skill 'Support' initially enhanced blade skill attack power by 20%, a figure later amplified to 100%. Another example: the duration of 'Shadow Slash' transitioned from five seconds to ten, and its power escalated from a base attribute multiplier to double attributes. 'Wild Dance' saw the damage inflicted by each blade shadow increase from twofold to threefold. The attribute modification for the 'Wail' ability shifted from a 10% decrease in durability alongside a 5% power increase, to an equal 10% increase for both. 'Tear Spirit's' chance to grant immunity against water-attribute attacks improved from thirty percent to fifty percent.
In addition, two new abilities were integrated. The first was named 'Carved Form'.
This ability served to alter the visual profile of the blade bodies, giving them a somewhat robust appearance externally. However, when employed in coordinated assaults, they generated a doubling effect on attack speed. The methodology of damage delivery transitioned from prior sharpness-based impacts to energy-based damage.
The seventh introduced ability was 'Heart Control'. This proficiency complemented 'Carved Form'. During the heat of battle, the wielder could manipulate the twin blades' durability. In essence, this was a strategic precursor to the 'Wail' ability, allowing the substantial form of the twin blades to diminish, thereby reducing durability and achieving the effect of amplified power on demand.
Moments prior, Xia Lei had employed the 'Heart Control' ability, reducing the blades' durability to a mere ten percent, which in turn boosted their power by ninety percent. Subsequently, bolstered by the 'Shadow Slash' and 'Wild Dance' abilities, alongside her 'Knife Hand' class skill, she unleashed an attack of extraordinary potency.
These luminous blade strikes impacted the green-skinned behemoth. While they did not achieve an instant kill against the beast's resilient hide, they decisively breached its skin, leaving it enshrouded in a tapestry of wounds. The chest and abdominal regions, having sustained prior injuries from Yellow Ball, now bore the brunt of this renewed assault, resulting in particularly grievous harm.
Yet, as the saying goes, misfortune rarely strikes alone. The inaugural shot from a floating cannon found its mark directly on these compromised areas. The green-skinned monster's form was violently propelled backward. Then followed the second, the third... culminating with the sixth cannon, each blast battering its body. By the time it impacted the ground, the green-skinned monster was already critically wounded, vast segments of its flesh torn away.
It struggled to rise. From its very inception, this creature had never endured injuries of such magnitude. Even with its inherent regenerative capabilities, a full recovery would necessitate at least a month of sustained sustenance and recuperation.
However, it was evident that the ordeal was far from concluded. The resonant sound of the seventh cannon echoed.
Thump! The final floating cannon, positioned at the apex, discharged its payload.
The sheer power of this singular shot was equivalent to the combined force of all six preceding cannons!
Instantly, the green-skinned monster perceived the imminent peril. Gritting its teeth against the searing pain, it attempted to propel itself laterally, seeking evasion.
Indeed, evasion was the only recourse, for this particular projectile moved with a deliberate, agonizing slowness.
The projectile of energy shot forth, traversing the air. To an average individual, its speed would seem astonishingly swift. However, from the perspective of a peak-level entity, this velocity was sluggish, sufficiently so to permit evasion. Even a heavily wounded green-skinned monster could manage such a feat. Thus, it attempted to sidestep.
But the instant its form shifted, the surrounding environment warped. What was transpiring? The green-skinned monster struggled to reposition its body, only to find itself utterly immobilized. Subsequently, an intense wave of agony washed over it, and a significant portion of its body vanished.
The seventh strike had found its mark.
Xia Lei ceased her actions, dabbing the perspiration from her brow. She then addressed the Talking Lady, "Have you made your decision?"
The Talking Lady inclined her head in affirmation. She felt compelled to comply, perceiving the individuals from Cloud Peak as entirely aberrant.
"In that case, Xiangxue, I shall entrust the remainder to you."
Zhao Xiangxue gave her assent and then instructed the Talking Lady, "Go and aid your feline companion."
Immediately following, her hands became wreathed in flames. She ascended, positioning herself above the heads of the two green-skinned monstrosities presently under the Talking Lady's control, hovering suspended between them. As her hands pressed downwards, a torrent of fire began to cascade from her palms, forging a connection between her and the two captive creatures.
Concurrently, the Talking Lady deactivated her own ability, her physique wavering, and a profound weariness overtook her.
Despite their apparent composure earlier, the strain on both her and the two green beasts had been immense. At the Talking Lady's current cultivation level, engaging in further combat was nearly impossible. Yet, with her black cat still fighting valiantly, she felt obligated to rally her remaining reserves to support her companion.
With a guttural bellow, the gravely wounded green-skinned monster, left with dwindling life force by Xia Lei's assault, was dispatched by the twin sisters who swiftly converged upon it. It harbored resentment for encountering an adversary like Xia Lei. The immobilizing effect that instantly froze its body before the killing blow was inflicted by the Silver Sand Painter, Xia Lei's support specialization. Post-upgrade, she could now deploy five distinct paintings, expanding beyond her prior sole technique, Sunrise in the East. The specific manifestation employed was Surging Waves on the Blue Sea.
Having expended such abilities, Xia Lei was effectively devoid of the strength for further combat. Consequently, despite the green-skinned monster teetering on the brink of demise, she could only delegate the final act of its termination to Yatian and Yani.
The two formidable green-skinned monsters, previously under the Talking Lady's command, were now engulfed in an inferno. The flames instilled palpable fear within them, and their forms sustained grievous damage from the searing heat.
The Talking Lady had endured significant expenditure of her power, and the two creatures were no less depleted. Anomalous energies coursed through their beings, while external flames raged, instilling in them the chilling realization of an imminent cataclysm originating from the human suspended above. Their limbs regained mobility, albeit sluggishly and with considerable discomfort, allowing them to lash out at the human.
They observed that while the individual emanated such fearsome flames, her corporeal form appeared unable to move. Their strategy was clear: incapacitate her, and the perilous situation would naturally dissipate.
Two colossal fists, sequentially, struck Zhao Xiangxue, who had reverted to her flame-human form... only to plunge directly through her spectral body.
The two green-skinned monsters reacted as if they had witnessed a specter, utterly bewildered by the unfolding events. They instinctively launched another assault, yet the outcome mirrored the previous attempt precisely.
The relentless flames already caused their bodies to feel as though they were rapidly disintegrating. A fervent desire to attempt a third strike surged, but their terror was too profound. Time constraints precluded further attempts, and consequently, they both... fled!
While fear was present, it did not equate to a complete cessation of combat. The green-skinned monsters retreated with the intention of creating spatial distance, perhaps hoping to overwhelm this solitary human woman's focus and divide her attention.
