Cloud Peak forces faced chaos as an ambush descended upon their headquarters. While some strategically retreated, Guangyao ordered a defense to buy time for reinforcements. At the headquarters, Xia Lei and her team, alongside Yellow Ball and an injured Yangos, prepared for an onslaught of powerful demons. Yellow Ball initially defended the area, but it was clear reinforcements were needed, prompting it to engage the enemy directly.

If the residents of Cloud Peak were surveyed to name the most understated, yet powerful, being, a staggering 80% would likely point to Yellow Ball.

Before Yellow Ball ascended to the status of a level nine lifeform, its combat record was nothing short of legendary, positioning it as one of Cloud Peak’s most vital and trusted variant lifeforms.

Its ascendancy was intrinsically linked to the growing power of Cloud Peak itself.

Given the long-standing historical bond between humans and canines, Big Yellow was quickly embraced by the evolved inhabitants of Cloud Peak Villa. Furthermore, as the personal war beast of the Cloud Peak King, it rapidly became the most cherished entity within the entire villa. From the innermost circle members to the rank-and-file warriors, every single person held Yellow Ball in high regard.

Subsequently, the arrival of the Death King Tree, Yangos, Little Tiger, Mo Ye, Xia Bai's Female Guard, and a host of other formidable lifeforms meant Yellow Ball was no longer the sole war beast or indispensable entity for Cloud Peak’s strategic needs.

Consequently, often for its own protection or for other strategic considerations, Big Yellow was not assigned demanding duties unless absolutely necessary. Its primary role evolved into safeguarding the villa.

After all, Big Yellow was the being everyone trusted implicitly; with it on guard within the villa, a profound sense of security permeated the populace.

However, this shift in duties did not signify a decline in Yellow Ball’s power; quite the opposite. Even after Ye Zhongming’s departure to engage with the Cosmic Races, Cloud Peak continued to enhance Yellow Ball's capabilities.

Currently, it stood as the sole top-tier lifeform at Cloud Peak equipped with a complete set of specialized beast equipment.

Beast equipment is fundamentally different from conventional gear, requiring exceptionally high standards of quality, particularly for top-tier lifeforms.

Its rarity far eclipses that of even purple-grade equipment.

In the past, Yellow Ball, and even Yangos to some extent, possessed beast equipment. However, upon their evolution to level nine, this equipment proved incapable of withstanding the immense physical pressure exerted by these peak lifeforms, rendering it useless.

The current set adorning Yellow Ball was entirely procured from the level nine lottery, a fortunate byproduct of Cloud Peak's frequent spins. Four of the five pieces in this complete set were obtained through this method. The final piece was also a benefit derived from Cloud Peak's extensive territorial control.

Possessing a full complement of beast equipment and a unique physiological makeup, Yellow Ball was identified as one of the three entities that the malevolent dragon must absolutely avoid provoking.

Therefore, as it launched itself into the sky, the sheer presence and momentum it exuded were far beyond those of typical top-tier lifeforms.

Three of the descending top-tier green-skinned demon monsters immediately broke formation, diverting their attention to intercept Yellow Ball.

Big Yellow, with remarkable agility, adjusted its flight path using its mechanical wings, oriented itself for an attack, and unleashed a torrent of golden mist.

For the first time, all beings, including the people of Cloud Peak, witnessed the combat prowess of Yellow Ball, now a fully realized top-tier lifeform.

This voluminous golden mist swiftly obscured a significant portion of the sky, instantly engulfing the three top-tier green-skinned demon monsters that had moved to intercept it.

The formidable strength of the green-skinned demon monsters was undeniable. At equivalent levels, their inherent power, especially in terms of physical attributes, surpassed that of regular evolved lifeforms. Their raw strength and agility provided them with a distinct advantage. Even with the aid of equipment, evolved individuals found it challenging to defeat them in one-on-one engagements at the same cultivation level.

The advantage for evolved individuals typically lay in their ability to leverage more potent equipment, superior organizational tactics, and more sophisticated skills.

However, the dynamic was different when it came to war beasts. Many war beasts also possessed inherent physical advantages that evolved beings could not match. In this specific regard, while green-skinned demon monsters might hold an edge over war beasts, the disparity was not as pronounced as the gap between them and evolved individuals.

This is why, in prior confrontations with these formidable parasites, Little Tiger's cavalry unit and Li Daqian's War Beast Legion achieved the highest kill counts per unit of time, as they adeptly minimized the parasites' most significant advantage.

As beings who had reached level nine, creatures like Yellow Ball and Yangos, distinguished by their exceptional physical prowess, were not overly apprehensive of the green-skinned demon monsters. Moreover, the unique abilities they wielded were completely beyond the capabilities of the green-skinned demon monsters.

For instance, the potent ability Yellow Ball was currently employing—this expansive golden mist—was an innate skill acquired upon achieving level nine lifeform status. The mist’s vast reach made it impossible for the three pursuing green-skinned demon monsters to evade it.

They were immediately enveloped by the mist, which seemed to possess an almost sentient quality, clinging tenaciously to these repulsive creatures. In the subsequent moment, the three afflicted demon monsters let out horrific shrieks of terror and plummeted directly from the heavens.

Yellow Ball did not even spare them a backward glance. With a powerful beat of its mechanical wings, it propelled itself towards another green-skinned demon monster positioned closest to it. Just as it was about to make contact, a spectral image, identical to Yellow Ball, detached from its body and lunged at the demon monster, forcefully repelling it.

In the interim, Yellow Ball’s true form swept past its decoy, engaging the fifth pursuing green-skinned demon monster directly.

In mere seconds, the unfolding events became too rapid to fully comprehend. Those who witnessed the scene, after a moment of stunned silence, grasped Yellow Ball's true intentions. This devoted follower of the Cloud Peak King still sought to shield Xia Lei on the ground from the approaching demon monsters.

What humans perceived, the green-skinned demon monsters understood as well. Following a faint, almost imperceptible cry, the monster initially intimidated by Yellow Ball's resolute charge let out a shriek and lunged forward. Concurrently, a second green-skinned demon monster, abandoning its descent, twisted its body with great force and swooped towards Yellow Ball, now dangerously close.

Yellow Ball, poised to use a skill, was forced to abandon its plan to engage the two green-skinned demon monsters in close combat. A quick glance was cast towards the Talking Lady below. This was, for the moment, the extent of Big Yellow's capabilities. Despite a lingering distrust towards the Talking Lady and Black Cat, the responsibility for dealing with the remaining demon monsters would have to fall upon them.

Yellow Ball found itself occupied, fending off six green-skinned demon monsters. The remaining four descended, landing in the vicinity of the Talking Lady and Black Cat.

As a variant lifeform with mental-based abilities, the Talking Lady found that using mental shock-type skills against the green-skinned demon monsters yielded minimal results; she had tried before with poor success.

She moved a step closer to Xia Lei's position, then gently set Black Cat down. Instantly, Black Cat transformed into a streak of black lightning, darting towards the closest green-skinned demon monster.

That particular green-skinned demon monster met this charge with unwavering resolve, its sharp claws extended to face an opponent vastly smaller in size.

A subtle shift occurred within the Talking Lady's eyes, revealing flashing silver, enigmatic symbols. Simultaneously, her hands, now appearing perfectly human, began to emit a soft radiance. As she raised them, these glows solidified into two faintly discernable ribbons of light. Inexplicably, the moment they materialized, they ensnared two green-skinned demon monsters, freezing all three beings connected in this ethereal grasp.

"Still one short," the Talking Lady murmured to Xia Lei standing beside her, a sigh escaping her lips.

Xia Lei responded with a smile, "It's alright; I'm already grateful. Just one shouldn't pose too significant a problem."

As she uttered these words, a subtle shadow materialized on Xia Lei's other side.
