Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 2055: Wait to sit on that position

"Have you made your selection yet?"
Jie Su approached and took a seat beside Ye Zhongming, noticing him still engrossed in the various formations displayed on the terminal. He casually inquired.
"Do you have any idea how many people have come to me in the last few days?"
Ye Zhongming deactivated the screen and turned to Jie Su with a smile.
Jie Su simply shrugged, rendered somewhat speechless. "These people, truly... Just a few days ago, they were so adamant, insisting formations were confidential and couldn't be shared with outsiders. Under pressure, they could only teach you a few grand formations, but now, sigh."
In light of this recent development, the rising star of the Su Clan gained a starkly new perspective on his clansmen's integrity.
In the agreement established a few days prior, Ye Zhongming had proposed an exchange: Xiu Ge and Purple Luo Zinc for formations. This offer had been firmly rejected by the Su Clan members at the time.
Ye Zhongming had initially abandoned the idea, but to his surprise, a mere hour later, individuals began approaching him, eager to impart knowledge of formations in exchange for the very two items the Su Clan desperately needed.
After all, the Weapons of War and Purple Luo Zinc that Ye Zhongming possessed were slated for uniform distribution by the Su Clan according to the agreement. The timing of this distribution, and the quantity each recipient would receive, were all points of contention.
Since the clan had already opened the door to teaching Ye Zhongming quite a few grand formations, allowing him to acquire some minor and intermediate ones seemed like a trivial matter, wouldn't it?
Consequently, the faction aligned with the clan leader and the faction led by Kelan Su swiftly engaged Ye Zhongming. They presented certain conditions, offering a compilation of twenty formations—ten minor and ten intermediate—in return for one hundred fifty Weapons of War and an adequate amount of Purple Luo Zinc sufficient for crafting fifty minor formation 'molds' and one hundred intermediate formation 'molds'.
Before negotiations between both parties could be fully concluded, Kelan Su's faction also made their appearance. Their objective was, predictably, the same. By the time Jie Su arrived, an almost unbearable awkwardness permeated the atmosphere.
Ultimately, Yaohan Su directly stepped in, imposing a restriction that limited each faction to trading with Ye Zhongming for no more than ten minor formations, five intermediate formations, and strictly prohibiting any dealings involving grand formations.
In exchange for these concessions, Ye Zhongming was required to provide three hundred fifty Weapons of War and sufficient Purple Luo Zinc to fashion thirty minor formation molds and fifteen intermediate formation molds.
Naturally, these quantities were to be divided into three equal shares among the three direct lineages.
Yet, even with these stipulations, a number of individuals still sought out Ye Zhongming privately, harboring the desire to continue such clandestine trades.
"I am absolutely certain that your formula for Weapons of War, the Purple Luo Zinc, and that ancient formation were all acquired after your arrival in this universe. At times, I cannot help but feel a pang of envy. How is it that you can achieve these things while I have struggled for so many years without success?"
Jie Su placed a hand on Ye Zhongming's shoulder, then added, "Simultaneously, I also feel immensely fortunate to call you my friend and to know that you will wholeheartedly support me."
"Previously, I always believed that cooperating with the Star-Eye Clan meant the Su Clan would be the primary contributor, nurturing a potential ally. Now, I no longer hold that view. I perceive you as a truly exceptional and formidable ally. You know, I've never experienced this level of confidence before."
Despite Jie Su's admission of envy, there was no discernible trace of it in his demeanor, nor did he press Ye Zhongming for details on how he obtained these resources. He genuinely felt fortunate, sensing that his aspirations were now within grasp.
"Getting sentimental now," Ye Zhongming remarked with a smile.
Although Jie Su's words were heartfelt, Ye Zhongming couldn't quite bring himself to believe that the Star-Eye Clan could now stand as equals with the Su Clan. Regardless of what he provided, the overarching reality was that the Su Clan, along with himself, was still receiving more assistance.
"On a related note, over these past few days, the Elders have been diligently studying the formation your subordinates utilized. They believe it bears a striking resemblance to a lost ancient formation known as Kanci. Despite being a minor formation, it has always been renowned for its potent offensive capabilities. Who would have imagined it could still be employed with people serving as the formation's core? The Elders are now conducting experiments to ascertain the feasibility of integrating warriors and formation masters."
Ye Zhongming offered a slight nod. Although he had instructed his assault team in this method, the formation appeared overly rigid due to their composition as warriors. This made them highly susceptible to casualties when facing opponents with powerful offensive capabilities.
The integration of warriors and formation masters would effectively resolve this issue, as during combined assaults, the critical factor would be the collective Furelai, rather than the members' classification as warriors.
Ye Zhongming had only recently recognized this deficiency, yet the Su Clan commenced their experiments mere days after acquiring the formation. Major clans undoubtedly possessed their own unique strengths.
"Tell me honestly, do you possess any other formations of a similar nature?"
Jie Su voiced the question that had been lingering in his mind for some time; he consistently felt that his clan had been outmaneuvered by Ye Zhongming.
A hearty laugh escaped Ye Zhongming, and he didn't deny it. "Correct, though not in great numbers. As for raw attack power, none can match the one I bestowed upon you, at least for the time being."
"What do you mean by 'for the time being'?" Jie Su inquired, a hint of confusion in his voice.
"Indeed," Ye Zhongming replied. "These formations, I discovered them within the Library Palace. It's possible I'll unearth more in due time. You're welcome to explore when you have leisure. However, discretion is advised; if the news spreads too widely, everyone will become aware of the treasures available in the Library Palace."
The matter concerning the library officers was of paramount importance, a secret Ye Zhongming dared not divulge to anyone else, forcing him to offer this veiled explanation to Jie Su. In truth, the very formations that utilized individuals as components were indeed imparted to Ye Zhongming by the Library Palace.
While the Su Clan's most crucial core formations were not housed within the Library Palace, a significant number of unique and distinct formations had been preserved there in ages past. Over the long course of time, many masters of formations met untimely ends or departed for other reasons, resulting in these formations being lost to the Su Clan, yet their records remained within the Library Palace. Because these particular formations were not considered vital, the Su Clan did not ascribe much importance to them. After all, their efficacy was deemed rather ordinary. For the Su Clan, which consistently developed new formations, the endeavor and considerable expense of meticulously searching the vast archives of the Library Palace were simply unnecessary.
Individuals within the Library Palace, however, took the initiative to study these archaic formations and had recently commenced their modification.
Once individuals with clear objectives embraced these formations, the unleashed power proved to be quite astonishing.
Through the passage of years, these formations underwent further transformation, evolving into a new guise. It was during Ye Zhongming's departure that these refined formations naturally found their way into his possession.
It is worth noting that only a solitary library officer engaged in the research and modification of these formations... and it is rumored they merely experimented with them out of sheer boredom.
At the time of Ye Zhongming's departure, this same master artisan was actively engaged in researching the few remaining grand formations originally devised by the Su Clan. Ye Zhongming held firm conviction that tangible results would soon be apparent.
Those esteemed library officers were truly... exceedingly capable, to the extent that Ye Zhongming felt utterly foolish in their presence.
"I knew it!" Jie Su exclaimed, virtually pointing at Ye Zhongming. Regardless of the circumstances, he felt a prickle of unease regarding the young man's successful deception of the Su Clan, pilfering one hundred million Moonspan Gold with a minor ancient formation.
Ye Zhongming let out a soft chuckle, draped an arm around Jie Su's shoulders, and proposed, "Let bygones be bygones; it ultimately benefits everyone. How about this: I'll share a secret with you as recompense?"
