Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 2054: One after another
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
"You must be crazy."
The leader of the opposing faction was nearly vibrating with agitation.
"Kid, do you comprehend the weight of two hundred million Moonspan Gold? Do you have any grasp of how much Moonspan Gold our entire Su Clan requires for a year's operations? Two hundred million? To be blunt, at that price, you might actually get the Taros Red Dwarves to consider selling you a Lie God-grade artifact."
Two hundred million was indeed a staggering sum, not in the currency of Earth, but in Moonspan Gold, an indispensable resource for virtually everything.
From sustaining survivor fortresses and the functioning of entire races to powering individual cultivation and equipment, Moonspan Gold was intrinsically linked to all aspects of existence.
Two hundred million Moonspan Gold. Such a fortune was likely beyond the reach of all but the most powerful clans, and even then, acquiring it would not be simple.
The Su Clan desperately desired the formation that utilized living beings, but not at the expense of crippling the entire clan financially.
"Then one hundred fifty million."
"One hundred twenty million at most. Kid, cease being so avaricious," Yaohan Su implored, rapping his knuckles on the table.
"Very well." Ye Zhongming feigned a pained expression. "No repayment shall be necessary."This condition was settled. However, Jie Su, who knew Ye Zhongming intimately, harbored a persistent feeling of unease, as if they were being deceived.
"Third, impart no less than five major formations each of attack, defense, comprehensive utility, and various other categories to the Star-Eye Clan."
Ye Zhongming’s stipulations grew progressively more significant, gradually probing into the clan’s most guarded secrets.
"This is utterly out of the question!" Before the opposing faction’s leader could respond, Yaohan Su vehemently rejected the demand.
Formations represented the Su Clan’s most closely guarded secrets, akin to the manufacturing technology of the Taros Red Dwarves. Even formations that were not considered top-tier, once passed on, could potentially reveal techniques, operational habits, and fundamental principles to outsiders.
To safeguard their proprietary knowledge, the Su Clan seldom shared formations with other races, constantly wary of reverse-engineering. How could they possibly agree to actively teach them?
Despite Yaohan Su’s strong desire for cooperation with the Star-Eye Clan, he could not afford to use this as a bargaining chip. Conceding to this demand would invite insurmountable opposition within the clan, potentially leading to his removal as clan leader.
"You must understand, ever since my home planet plunged into this apocalypse, I've learned one crucial lesson: nothing is truly impossible; it merely depends on the necessity of the action."
Ye Zhongming, unfazed by the Su Clan’s predictable refusal, proceeded to elaborate on his reasoning.
"Every entity possesses its secrets; every race is the same. Formations are your core assets, and it is natural to protect them from others – I acknowledge this entirely. However, you must also grasp a fundamental truth: the value and importance of these secrets are contingent upon the Su Clan maintaining its current standing, even its very existence. If your race were to face extinction, what meaning would these guarded secrets hold?"
Noticing the stirring among the Su Clan members, including Jie Su’s readiness to object, Ye Zhongming ensured everyone listened until he concluded.
"As I mentioned earlier, the Su Clan, much like numerous other races, is confronting an existential crisis. You may doubt this, or only partially believe it, but I urge you to pay close attention, or perhaps task your investigators to look into it, and you will undoubtedly perceive it. A crisis is rapidly approaching."
He gestured outward, his voice resonating with gravity. "The overarching crisis originates from the Slave Race. This threat exerts immense pressure, particularly amplified by the current nutrient wave. This pressure permeates all cosmic races. The two major power blocs are bearing the brunt of it. Will they stand and fight the Slave Races to the death to ensure their survival? No, they will not. Instead, they will dislocate their losses onto lesser races, and those best equipped to absorb and endure these burdens are the powerful, foundational clans such as yours, positioned at the lower echelons."
"In such circumstances, what is the advantage of hoarding your formations and proprietary knowledge? Furthermore, I am not requesting your paramount Ten Great Formations, merely other significant formations. I am even willing to transfer this ancient formation to your possession; what then prevents you from sharing certain knowledge with us?"
"Your representatives on various planets already possess knowledge of certain formations, perhaps not of the highest caliber, but it demonstrates your capacity to impart such knowledge. Therefore, as collaborative partners in this endeavor, why should we be denied the opportunity to learn some of your formations?"
Ye Zhongming laid out his case with compelling logic.
The Su Clan members were visibly affected by his words, yet the gravity of the matter was such that they could not agree lightly, regardless of the circumstances.
Ye Zhongming let out a sigh, then stated, "Very well. One hundred 'Weapons of War' along with two thousand pounds of 'Purple Luo Zinc' shall be exchanged for those formations I previously mentioned. Furthermore, I guarantee that these formations will only be taught to me and will not be passed on." To secure the Su Clan's consent, Ye Zhongming understood that additional conditions were necessary; otherwise, the Su Clan would undoubtedly refuse. The exchange of one hundred 'Weapons of War' and two thousand pounds of 'Purple Luo Zinc' represented a significant commitment, causing some hesitation among the present Su Clan members. Simultaneously, Ye Zhongming's assurance that the formations would be exclusively for his own learning and not disseminated further greatly eased their concerns. "We require time to deliberate," Yaohan Su said after a considerable pause. Ye Zhongming promptly rose and exited the conference room, leaving the Su Clan members inside to their discussions. A few minutes later, the leader of the Kelan Su faction, who had previously departed, reappeared. He cast a glance at Ye Zhongming without uttering a word and directly re-entered the room. Outside, two Gold Mask warriors who had been awaiting Ye Zhongming approached him. They informed him that the others had already departed for Su City, having gone into disguise to procure the materials he had requested. In response, Ye Zhongming allocated all of his remaining 'Moonspan Gold' to them.
