Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 2011: Improving Assault Camp
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
Ye Zhongming lingered outside the warehouse, surveying the surroundings, utterly unconcerned about the battle unfolding inside.
Events unfolded exactly as he anticipated. Roughly ten minutes later, Assault Camp members emerged one after another.
They appeared in dire condition. Many leaned on each other for support, incapable of walking unaided. Yet some bore only extra sweat and scattered bruises on faces and bodies, holding up well.
Ou Chong and Shi Yong approached Ye Zhongming together, grinning as they declared in unison: "Order Leader, mission completed!"
Ye Zhongming nodded.
Just one hundred facing nearly one thousand—a gap of eight or nine times in numbers—yet they secured victory. Seemingly miraculous, but truly not surprising at all.
First off, Assault Camp gained a minor surprise attack edge. They had remained outside the warehouse beforehand. Upon the order, they surged in as one, catching the occupants off guard.
Nevertheless, only those closest to the warehouse entrance among the defenders were unprepared; the ones deeper inside enjoyed plenty of time to ready for combat.
Second came the equipment disparity.
Clad in complete gear ensembles, the Assault Camp burst inside. In the close to ten days since Ye Zhongming's return, beyond his personal cultivation, he devoted time to forging equipment. This let him acclimate further to Taros Red Dwarf technology through ongoing research, while boosting the Assault Camp's gear.Limited by materials and expertise, Ye Zhongming produced only a few Red Condensation level items daily—two or three at most. Spanning nearly ten days, that yielded over 20 pieces. He reserved some for rewards in the forthcoming Bronze Camp major exam, allotting the rest—seven or eight—to Assault Camp's key members and standout mission performers lately.
Don't overlook that, apart from Red Condensation level, Ye Zhongming crafted even more Ke Steel Grade pieces. These stemmed from failed Red Condensation attempts that didn't quite measure up. At his production rate, nearly 200 had piled up recently. Half set aside for exam rewards, the other half went to the Assault Camp too.
For those flawed products, barring a scant few utterly worthless, the majority hit basic level. They supplanted the Assault Camp's old gear, which fell short of even basic standards.
This ensured the Assault Camp now possessed excellent full-body armaments and armor. The poorest rated basic level. Every member carried at least one Ke Steel Grade item, while core figures donned Red Condensation level gear!
Though weapons stayed unused, the variance in other components alone delivered overwhelming superiority.
Ultimately, the paramount divide separating the sides lay in... strength.
Two months prior, even with superior gear, these fighters couldn't possibly overcome the reserve team's vast numbers. After all, the reserves suffered merely personality flaws—arrogance, fanaticism, excessive self-assurance—but their power had exceeded the Assault Camp's back then.
But circumstances shifted now. Across these two months, Assault Camp warriors trailed Ye Zhongming to master skills like Layer Eye, bonded through teamwork, practiced formations, assaulted a convoy, and stained hands with blood. Both strength and resolve leaped forward. Even fending off the full Bronze Camp forged unbreakable mental toughness.
Still, the most dramatic gains occurred in the days following Ye Zhongming's return.
Each evening after daytime drills, they gathered in Ye Zhongming's quarters for instruction. Unaware at first of the content, they soon received personalized techniques, skills, and more, chosen by Ye Zhongming according to their unique traits and conditions.
Assault Camp warriors had never enjoyed such favor before. They devoured every lesson Ye Zhongming offered.
Such perfect harmony with their bodies and cultivation practices felt unprecedented. Within mere days, combat power skyrocketed.
In their minds, Ye Zhongming stood as the ultimate mentor.
They remained ignorant that, while at the Library Palace, Ye Zhongming had conferred with supreme experts and erudite Librarians about every Assault Camp member's profile. These powerhouses, outstripping Ye Zhongming in prowess and discernment, handpicked fitting techniques, skills, and even proposed ideal equipment and weaponry.
With this kind of 'VIP' privilege, how could Assault Camp members face the Library Palace bigwigs if they failed to advance much or only progressed a bit?
Upon Ye Zhongming's first return, he inquired into the Assault Camp's power gains and learned the average rise sat around 100.
Gaining so much in under a month was truly impressive.
Yet after Ye Zhongming's elite training over roughly ten days, those with top talent boosted their Furelai by more than a thousand points. The others, even with modest gains, added hundreds. The overall average topped five hundred.
This growth in merely ten days! If word got out, it would shock plenty of folks. Save for pushing past key bottlenecks, not even prodigies could keep up that pace.
Ye Zhongming was well aware the Assault Camp fighters' paths echoed his own: explosive surges early on, tapering off later.
That said, a five-hundred average Furelai jump already outpaced these reserve teamers. Through training, they learned to harness their powers fully, unleashing peak potential and skills.
All these elements fused to secure today's win.
"Everyone return, today's training is canceled. Shi Yong and Ou Chong, stay." Ye Zhongming sent the rest off to rest. He brought Shi Yong and Ou Chong back to the warehouse.
What greeted them was reserve team members staggering around.
No weapons came into play from either side, and they showed restraint to avoid kills or major harm. Still, crushing foes demanded some ruthless strikes. Those specific ones Ye Zhongming called out proved especially fierce. Toppling them took real ability, no doubt. Fractures and bone cracks thus littered the aftermath. Even with their robust builds, healing after care would demand days.
"I know you are unhappy, think you weren't wearing equipment and were sneak attacked. But... when you carry out assassinations, do you consider this issue? Your numbers were so much greater than theirs. Did you consider that? So, a loss is a loss. From now on, obey well, train properly. Starting tomorrow, I will assign tasks and training content to you. Afterwards, assessments will be conducted periodically. Those with good results will be promoted to the Assault Camp as formal members, enjoying all the same treatment as former members. If, after three assessments, there are still people who haven't left the reserve team, then get out of the Bronze Camp."
Standing calmly at the entrance, Ye Zhongming declared, "From today, both the Assault Camp and the Assault Camp reserve team will be divided into two parts: the Assassin Group and the Warrior Group. On the Assault Camp side, for now, Shi Yong will lead the Assassin Group, and Ou Chong will lead the Warrior Group. On the reserve team side here, Fu Mei will lead the Assassin Group, with Chu Sa as deputy. Wo Aige'er will lead the Warrior Group, with Zheng Qu as deputy."
