Leon dismissed numerous skills, weapons, and artifacts offered by Dreulis, negotiating instead for mana cores in exchange for demonstrating a spell. Using the cores, he activated <Summons of Darkness>, tearing open a rift to Hell that birthed a small, crimson Hell Imp with cunning eyes and dark magic affinity. The imp knelt before Leon, addressing him as master, while Dreulis and Rees stared in confusion and alarm.

"Rise to your feet..." Leon commanded, fixing his gaze on the imp.

"Yes, Master." The imp responded, getting up from its knees and meeting his eyes.

"Are you able to fly?" Leon inquired, a grin on his face.

"Yes, Master..." The imp answered, promptly flapping its wings and hovering in the air.

'Hmm... Those wings make no noise at all; he'd make an excellent spy. But after using such pricey cores, I've only called forth one imp? Clearly, this skill requires major offerings to summon something powerful.' Leon mused inwardly.

"I-I don't get it... Is that your familiar now? Did you just summon a demon as your familiar?" Dreulis questioned in a bewildered and intrigued voice.

"He's more like a servant demon... I wouldn't call him a familiar." Leon answered with a grin, glancing at Dreulis.

"A servant? You mean this demon isn't tied by any contract yet obeys your commands? That sounds like utter nonsense!" Dreulis pressed, sounding puzzled.

"See for yourself... Hey, fly around in circles and keep going until I tell you to stop." Leon instructed, watching the imp.

"Yes, Master." The imp at once began circling through the air.

"I-Impossible... W-What skill was that? How could an alchemist even use it? No, the real issue is how you managed to open the " Dreulis stammered.

"You supplied the cores, and I demonstrated something fascinating... That was our agreement, right?" Leon replied smilingly, eyeing Dreulis.

"I must examine that spell's mana patterns." Dreulis declared, tapping his wand on the floor, which caused all the torches to extinguish abruptly.

Total darkness enveloped the chamber.

<Adaptive Body>

Leon's eyes shifted instantly to a feline form, restoring his sight perfectly in the pitch black.

"Almatari Treasa Bilyuk... Elpoiyo." With those words complete, countless blue magical circles materialized on the spot where Leon had opened the gate of hell.

"What the-" Rees exclaimed in shock, stepping beside Dreulis as they both intently observed the circles.

"Hmm...?" Leon wondered, puzzled, as he approached them and inspected the magic circles.

Yet the inscriptions in the circles remained illegible, shifting continuously.

"How can this be possible?" Dreulis demanded seriously.

"It's Urlops, isn't it?" Rees queried.

"Yes... But not the basic form. This is a third-level spell with intricate mana patterns... Casting it once demands immense concentration and hours of nonstop chanting.

He activated it in mere seconds using just mana crystals... Who exactly are you?" Dreulis questioned, both turning to face Leon simultaneously.

"What?"

"Fine... I've made up my mind; I'm staying here from now on." Dreulis stated evenly, looking at Leon.

"Well... Thanks, but I don't house old liches in my dungeon without charge. Ask Rees if you like." Leon shot back smilingly, gesturing toward Rees.

"I won't stay for nothing... I'll offer my grimoire as payment. Take it..." Dreulis said, conjuring a hefty ancient tome from nowhere and thrusting it at Leon.

"A book?" Leon asked, bewildered.

"No ordinary book, Sir... It holds every bit of research a lich amasses over a lifetime—spells, potions, creatures of all kinds.

A lich would sooner surrender his necroheart than part with his grimoire." Rees clarified.

"I get it, and you're giving away something so valuable just to live in a dungeon?" Leon queried, still confused, staring at Dreulis.

"Knowledge means little if it's confined, and all my magical studies are in that grimoire. But your spell has sparked greater curiosity in you than anything I've ever learned. It's my sole bargaining chip for more knowledge right now, so yes.

You'll prove a solid investment, Mr. Michael. No need to fret over betrayal; I never share intel between parties." Dreulis explained calmly.

"Sure, and why trust you? You just gave me your life's work so I'd let you bunk here." Leon challenged with a smile.

"Oh dear, such a distrustful fellow... Very well, here..." Dreulis responded, summoning a sheet of paper from thin air and passing it to Leon.

"What's this?" Leon wondered, examining the paper, his eyes suddenly widening in astonishment.

"Woah... Is that— Are you crazy? You're actually doing this?" Rees blurted loudly, staring at Dreulis.

"Anything for knowledge, my friend... Anything. Sign it after reading everything, especially the time terms at the bottom.

I'll pick my floor now." Dreulis said, heading down from the first floor right away.

The paper bore words in blood-red ink: {SLAVE CONTRACT}.

"Hold on... There are terms and conditions..."

-------------------------------------

Terms and conditions,

[• Dreulis the lich will not in any way harm its master or betray him.]

[• Dreulis the lich will have free will of his own in casting spells to save himself and his benefactors.]

[• Master of the contract can only order Dreulis to cast a total of seven forceful spells, but if all seven spells were used before the contract completion date, the contract will expire.]

[• Slave contract is only valid for 7 months.]

[• Master can't force Dreulis to kill someone unless both of them agree to do the same.]

-------------------------------------------

"He crafted a truly clever contract." Leon remarked with a grin.
