Desperate to escape the consequences of her actions, Qin Churou leans on Lin Shuya while secretly blaming her mother for their current circumstances. Haunted by persistent nightmares about a lost pregnancy, Lin Shuya begins to look at her daughter with suspicion. The tension reaches a breaking point when Qin Sheng provides evidence suggesting that Qin Churou was responsible for the loss of Lin Shuya's unborn child. Faced with the horrifying possibility that her daughter harbors a lethal agenda, Lin Shuya finds herself trapped in a chilling confrontation with the truth.

Her baby had been destroyed by Qin Churou. How was it possible for Qin Churou to state those things without a single crack in her story?

In this instant, Lin Shuya clung to the slim hope that all the evidence had been fabricated by Qin Sheng, merely a scheme to sow discord between mother and daughter.

As she stood there, Qin Churou walked inside, pushing the door open as she called out, "Mom, I have already ordered our dinner."

Lin Shuya turned and fixed an icy gaze upon her.

Having never encountered such a look from Lin Shuya before, Qin Churou felt a sudden, ominous chill crawl up her spine.

Nevertheless, she forced a smile onto her lips and asked, "Mom, is something wrong?"

"Rou'er, you weren't the one who killed my child, were you? That tonic didn't actually contain abortifacient ingredients, did it?"

Lin Shuya gripped Qin Churou's arm tight. She desperately wanted to hear a denial; she simply could not reconcile the thought that the daughter she had lavished with love her entire life could ever harm her son.

Qin Churou’s expression remained unsettlingly calm. "Do you even have any proof?"

Lin Shuya held up her phone, displaying the contents to her.

"Rou'er, this is all just a forgery by Qin Sheng, right? What could possibly possess you to do this? You know just how much I treasured that child. Why?"

Qin Churou ignored her mother's pleas and scanned through the evidence Qin Sheng had sent.

Under normal circumstances, she would have flatly denied every word.

However, her mental state had been fraying lately; she had hit roadblock after roadblock, leaving her emotions in a volatile, unstable mess.

Furthermore, it was clear that Lin Shuya had already bought into the evidence to a significant degree. A simple denial wouldn't suffice; Qin Sheng would only find a way to reveal the truth to her mother anyway.

She decided she no longer had the energy to keep up the charade.

Qin Churou tossed the phone aside, the warmth melting away from her features to reveal a dark, sinister expression. "That’s right, I did it. I killed him. Labeling it 'abortion medicine' is actually quite accurate."

Lin Shuya's complexion drained to a ghostly white, her lips trembling uncontrollably. "Rou'er, you have to be lying to me, right? That’s just nonsense. Why would you ever harm my baby? Didn't you say you valued having a little brother?"

Qin Churou roughly shook off Lin Shuya’s hand.

She let out a cold, sharp laugh, her face distorting into a horrifying mask of cruelty.

"Lin Shuya, what is the point of this act? If you truly didn't want to believe these lies, why are you questioning me with this evidence in your hand? You didn't hesitate to doubt me based on Qin Sheng’s claims, even going so far as to have the servants test those drugs! Don't come at me with your hypocrisy now."

Lin Shuya stumbled backward, reeling from the impact of her words.

She stared at Qin Churou in sheer disbelief. The words had truly crawled out of her mouth…

She had always been the paragon of filial piety and consideration…

A sudden, jarring realization struck Lin Shuya: the girl before her was a total stranger. It was as if she were seeing Qin Churou for the first time.

Lin Shuya shook her head repeatedly, murmuring in agony, "Rou'er, how could you? He was your own little brother!"

"Heh—"

Qin Churou offered a look of pure contempt. "What kind of brother? He was nothing more than your son, Lin Shuya. There is no blood of mine in his veins."

"But we are mother and daughter!" Lin Shuya’s breath hitched, her chest rising and falling violently. She cried out, "Qin Churou, I have devoted my entire life to raising you as my own. I chose you over Qin Sheng! How could you be so heartless as to treat my child like this?"
