Akame ga Kill: Starting with Dual Kamui Chapter 1: Double Kamui

"Could it be… I’ve truly transmigrated?"

Blayn’s memory was hazy, only recalling a truck collision, a descent into darkness, and then awakening in an unfamiliar world. Recently, the System had confirmed his suspicions: he was now in the world of Akame ga Kill.

Initially, accepting this reality proved difficult. Transmigration was typically confined to fiction, a concept found solely in novels and manga, was it not?

Yet, the present demanded acknowledgment. His arrival had been less than graceful, landing squarely upon a monstrous creature's head, thereby inciting its awakening.

This beast was a Special-Class Danger Beast, resembling a colossal tiger, far exceeding the ferocity of any ordinary feline. Its immense paws alone dwarfed Blayn entirely, and its gleaming claws stretched for at least a meter.

Fortunately, Blayn’s Dual Kamui was ready for deployment. Yes, the Mangekyō Sharingan’s Kamui, manifesting not in one eye, but both. This unique ability was a gift from the System upon his transmigration.

The instant the creature lunged, Blayn swiftly activated the Intangibility ability of his right eye’s Kamui. The Danger Beast’s cavernous maw, filled with razor-sharp fangs, phased through him without inflicting harm.

His form passed through the massive beast’s head, and without losing a moment, he fled in another direction, attempting to escape its pursuit.

After a considerable distance, a woman clad in a pristine white military uniform appeared in his line of sight.

His Mangekyō Sharingan’s enhanced vision allowed him to perceive her details from afar. Her long, azure hair was a striking feature, complemented by an exceptionally cold demeanor, akin to a sculpted ice figure – delicate features, lashes the color of ice, piercing eyes, and skin as flawless as freshly fallen snow.

However, Blayn lacked the time to appreciate her beauty; he was still being pursued.

Despite its repeated failures, the Danger Beast continued its relentless chase. Such was the nature of Danger Beasts, lacking significant intelligence.

"It appears I’ve inadvertently involved an innocent… I must offer my assistance."

This thought streaked across Blayn’s mind.

While he possessed means of escape, the woman was likely to become the beast’s subsequent target. He could not bear the thought of innocent lives suffering due to his presence, and his conscience forbade him from turning a blind eye.

Concurrently, he recognized the urgency of evading the Danger Beast. His physical body felt noticeably weakened, and his eyes throbbed with a dull ache.

If he were to employ another eye technique at this juncture, his body might not withstand the strain. His most prudent course of action involved utilizing his remaining intangibility to facilitate his escape.

The energy expenditure associated with the Dual Kamui was staggeringly immense; even with the System augmenting his physique beyond normal human capacities. Otherwise, a single activation of his ocular abilities could prove fatal.

He knew of methods to further enhance his strength, but this was not the opportune moment for such contemplation.

On this particular day, Esdeath, recently appointed as a general within the Empire, had been assigned the task of subduing a Special-Class Danger Beast situated near the Empire's southern frontier. She was accompanied by a contingent of soldiers for this operation.

However, this was no ordinary Special-Class Danger Beast; it was on the cusp of evolving into a Super-Rank creature. At this stage, Esdeath had not yet acquired the Ice Teigu: Demon God Manifestation – Demon’s Extract.

Her entire squad had been annihilated during the engagement, and even she had to endure significant hardship to finally bring down the beast.

Suddenly, her attention was drawn to a distant figure, being pursued by a Danger Beast. Judging by its size and appearance, it was another Special-Class Danger Beast.

Her brows knitted slightly. She was still suffering from severe injuries and harbored doubts about her ability to confront another formidable opponent.

She was uncertain if the young man was intentionally luring the beast towards her, yet she prepared herself for potential combat.

Without hesitation, she unsheathed a longsword from her hip—a weapon resembling a fencing épée but considerably heavier—and adopted a defensive stance.

As the dark-clad youth charged directly at her, her fighting spirit intensified further.

Blayn sprinted directly towards Esdeath, completely disregarding the sword tip pointed at his head, and seized her wrist.

The instant he made contact, Esdeath was affected by his Kamui’s Intangibility, enabling him to establish physical contact with her.

She was taken aback when her sword passed harmlessly through his head. In that moment of astonishment, she failed to react promptly when he grasped her wrist.

As he pulled her along, Blayn spoke in a subdued tone, "I harbor no ill intent towards you."

Esdeath’s expression shifted. She had not anticipated him simply grabbing her and fleeing, as if intent on absconding with her.

However, she detected no hostility emanating from him. Furthermore, in her current state, engaging the Danger Beast in a direct confrontation was not feasible. Therefore, she allowed him to lead her away.

Soon, they reached the precipice of a cliff. Gazing down, the drop extended at least a thousand meters.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Blayn plunged downwards.

Esdeath paused, a flicker of indecision crossing her features.

She had not foreseen the youth’s impulsive leap, and since he still held her wrist, she was consequently pulled down with him.```html

Mid-air, she rapidly altered her stance, attempting to embed her sword into the cliff face to arrest their plummeting descent.

Yet, to her astonishment, the blade sliced through the rock as if it were mere air, failing to mitigate their fall in the slightest.

Esdeath, confronted with an unprecedented phenomenon, found herself momentarily bewildered, unable to grasp the situation.

The explanation was straightforward: Blayn was still clinging to her, and she remained ensnared by his 'Intangibility' effect.

Perceiving her bewilderment, Blayn offered a reassuring word, "No need to fret, we'll manage."

"… Are you a Teigu User?"

Esdeath swiftly concluded that his peculiar abilities must stem from some formidable power.

Within this realm, the Empire stood as an ancient civilization, boasting a millennium of history and reigning as the paramount nation.

A thousand years prior, the inaugural Emperor had forged 48 Teigu, potent relics meticulously crafted at immense sacrifice to cement his dominion.

However, a cataclysmic war five centuries ago resulted in the dispersal of numerous Teigu, scattering them across the land and even beyond the Empire's confines.

Should this young man indeed be a Teigu User, it would serve as a logical explanation for his extraordinary capabilities.

Blayn offered no response to her inquiry.

Primarily, his attention was captivated by his observation of the chasm below.

Secondly, he possessed no knowledge of what a 'Teigu User' actually entailed.

Indeed, Blayn knew precious little about the world within Akame ga Kill. He had only encountered mentions of it but had never delved into its narrative through viewing or reading.

He had heard whispers of its profound tragedy, which had deterred him from experiencing it directly. Consequently, he failed to recognize Esdeath at all.

Despite his silence, Esdeath's gaze remained fixed upon his crimson eyes.

Her intuition strongly suggested that these peculiar, blood-red irises were indicative of a Teigu.

After all, what ordinary individual possessed three sickle-shaped tomoe within their eyes?
