After Transmigrating as a Tycoon’s Wife, My Thoughts Are Heard by the Whole Family Chapter 1
"Sign the papers. Once the divorce is finalized, you won't deal with any legal consequences. I am adding an extra 200 million, and I'll also transfer your studio to your name, along with that downtown apartment..." A deep, magnetic voice, laced with a chilling edge, echoed through the room.
Ji Fei had to press her hand against her mouth to hide a burgeoning laugh. Her stunning almond eyes were dancing with delight; one seemed to reflect the number 200,00 while the other sparkled with 0,000!
She kept her head down, pretending to scrutinize the divorce settlement while she actually counted every single zero on the page.
Across the desk sat a tall man possessing aristocratic, noble features and dark, obsidian eyes that flickered with a cold light. He watched Ji Fei, noting how she bowed her head and trembled with her hand over her mouth.
His heart only grew colder at the sight.
Qin Xian wouldn't have endured this for so long if he had known it would reach this point.
In his eyes, Ji Fei was both a tragic figure and a nuisance. Her parents had been close friends of the Qin Family for years, but they passed away before she reached adulthood. Honoring their final request, the Qin Family took her in, only for her to repay their kindness with schemes to force him into marriage.
Even after the wedding, she refused to live quietly. She spent her days stalking him and fabricating drama out of nowhere, turning his existence into a chaotic mess.
Most recently, she had gone as far as stealing corporate secrets to hand over to a competitor. This betrayal cost the firm a massive project and ignited the fury of the entire organization.
Even if it was just to satisfy the Board of Directors, he had no choice but to divorce her immediately.
"I have been more than generous with these terms. I suggest you know when to stop," he stated firmly.
Qin Xian wouldn't have left her a single cent if it weren't for the memory of her late parents.
He fully expected Ji Fei to throw a tantrum, threaten self-harm, and refuse to sign. To his utter amazement, she simply picked up the pen with a shaking hand.
Seeing this, Qin Xian felt a slight weight lift from his chest. It appeared that Ji Fei finally realized she had crossed a line and was no longer going to fight him.
At long last, the divorce could proceed.
[Oh ho! Finally, I can get divorced!]
Qin Xian: ?
Was that Ji Fei's voice just now?
Qin Xian had almost never heard her sound so jubilant or full of life. For a moment, he was uncertain, so he looked at her again. He saw Ji Fei's face twisted in an odd expression as she prepared to sign the document.
Was that a look of fury... or pure ecstasy?
Wait, Ji Fei hadn't even moved her lips.
[Fantastic! 200 million! 200 million! Think of how many villas I can buy! How many adorable puppies could I adopt? My ex-husband is actually so generous, just as I expected!]
Qin Xian’s handsome, sharp brows twitched slightly.
He was positive her mouth hadn't moved, yet he had clearly heard her voice.
What was happening?
Always one to remain composed and skeptical, Qin Xian shifted his gaze toward Secretary Jin, who stood nearby.
Secretary Jin was staring fixedly at the settlement papers beneath Ji Fei's hand.
Noticing his look, the secretary immediately masked her expression with a look of "pity," as if she were mourning the sad end of this marriage.
Qin Xian didn't have the luxury to analyze Secretary Jin’s strange behavior. The most important realization was that Secretary Jin clearly couldn't hear those voices!
"Miss Ji, you've truly put Mr. Qin in a difficult position this time. I truly hope that after you depart, you can lead a proper life and not... sigh!" Secretary Jin suppressed a smirk, offering her "heartfelt" advice while secretly waiting for Ji Fei to explode in a rage.
After all, the foolish Ji Fei usually blew up at the slightest hint of a provocation. If she started a scene now, that massive payout might be revoked, leaving her with nothing at all.
Secretary Jin believed that a man as wonderful as Qin Xian shouldn't waste a single penny on a woman like Ji Fei.
However, Ji Fei merely gave her a passing glance before signing her name with lightning speed, as if she were in a race to start a new life.
[So irritating. Even though I’m taking the fall for this, I get to divorce smoothly and walk away with a fortune. I won't even bother dealing with the actual culprit.]
Qin Xian went rigid as he took the papers Ji Fei slid across the desk. A storm began to brew in the depths of his dark eyes.
What? Taking the fall? Actual culprit?!
Qin Xian was still reeling from the shock of hearing her inner thoughts when this new revelation hit him like a physical blow.
Wasn't it common knowledge that Ji Fei, angry at his indifference, had sabotaged him to get his attention?
Everyone knew that only she had accessed the CEO’s Office during that specific timeframe.
There were even photos of her meeting secretly with the vice president of their rival firm.
The case against her seemed airtight.
While she had initially denied the accusations with screams and fits, eventually...
Eventually, she had simply shouted in a fit of pique: "Fine! If you won't believe me, just blame me then! What are you going to do about it!"
He had assumed she was simply a cornered criminal acting out of shame.
Now it seemed her reaction was born from a place of hopeless despair and spiteful resignation.
"Mr. Qin, you need to sign now." Beside him, Secretary Jin grew visibly anxious as Qin Xian gripped the pen without moving. Her usually gentle tone sounded a bit forced.
Hearing her speak, Qin Xian suddenly felt that Secretary Jin was being far too pushy.
Thinking back to the "actual culprit" mentioned in the voice, he couldn't help but feel a surge of doubt.
Secretary Jin had been his classmate in college. They had a long history, and he had always trusted her implicitly. Why would she ever betray the firm like that?
By this point, Secretary Jin was practically shoving the pen into his hand.
She knew that despite his cold exterior, Qin Xian was a man of great responsibility and was fiercely protective of his family. He was soft-hearted; otherwise, he wouldn't have stayed tied to a fool like Ji Fei for this long.
In the past, several divorce attempts had failed because Ji Fei used tears and threats of suicide to stop him. Now that she had finally signed, she couldn't allow any problems to arise on Qin Xian's end.
[Tsk tsk tsk, she’s in quite a hurry, isn't she? I bet Secretary Jin is sweating right now, terrified that all her hard work will go down the drain.]
Qin Xian's gaze shifted drastically.
With a sharp flick of his wrist, his long fingers slammed the black fountain pen down onto the desk.
The sudden noise startled both women.
Qin Xian’s dark, penetrating eyes were now locked onto Ji Fei, who hadn't managed to hide her "spectator" expression in time.
"I am asking you one last time: did you really do it?"
He was a naturally careful man. If the voice he heard was accurate, it meant an innocent woman had been framed and a dangerous traitor remained inside his company. He had to confirm it.
Secretary Jin’s expression faltered for a second, though she didn't lose her cool. After all, Ji Fei had no way to prove her innocence.
Ji Fei felt a bit squirmy under Qin Xian's intense stare.
[What is he doing, asking this now? Is he getting cold feet about the 200 million?! He can't be regretting the deal, right? Just sign the paper and ask questions later!]
Qin Xian’s heart raced, but he kept his eyes fixed on her, demanding a response.
Ji Fei’s eyes shifted nervously as her inner monologue continued.
[Of course I didn't do it. It’s not my fault everyone else is an idiot!]
[Secretary Jin clearly went in and out of that office right after I did, but the CEO’s Office Staff just completely ignored her. When they asked about suspicious people, they didn't even bother checking the security tapes before making me the scapegoat.]
[That's what you call a psychological blind spot.]
Qin Xian was struck by a wave of shock!
Ji Fei wasn't the only person who had entered his office that night?!
At the time, because the witnesses and physical evidence pointed so clearly at Ji Fei, they had condemned her without even reviewing the surveillance footage!
He had also fallen into the trap of believing Ji Fei was exactly the type of person who would pull such a reckless stunt, so...
Just as he prepared to speak, he heard Ji Fei say coldly, "I have nothing to add. Just sign the papers."
Qin Xian’s face hardened. He didn't understand why she refused to defend herself when she knew the truth.
Was she convinced he would never believe her?
With that thought, Qin Xian stood up abruptly.
Secretary Jin watched him in confusion, only to be met with a sharp, calculating glance from him.
That look made her heart skip a beat in fear.
Before Secretary Jin could say a word, Qin Xian's long legs carried him toward the door.
As he brushed past the bewildered Ji Fei, he commanded in a low voice, "Follow me!"
"Huh... what for?" Ji Fei was completely lost.
They watched as Qin Xian threw open the door and shouted to the assistants in the outer office, "Get me the security footage from the night of the 11th! My wife isn't convinced yet. Let's let her see for herself if she was truly the only person who entered my office that night!"
Secretary Jin, who had followed him out, turned pale as she heard those words. "Mr. Qin!"
Ji Fei: ??
[This is a total lie! When did I say I wasn't convinced? My face clearly says I’m 100% convinced!]
