Previously on After Marrying the Officer...
Xia Chuyi receives a disturbing call about her husband, Huo Shiqian, and his mission going wrong. She worries if her own rebirth and choices have somehow negatively impacted his fate. Her anxieties deepen when Guo Jiumin, a person whose call she clearly dreads, unexpectedly contacts her.

With Ou ZhenTing and Ou Jun absent from their residence, Mrs. Ou was occupied in her room, observing Huo Xiaowu.

Hearing the phone ring twice in succession, Mrs. Ou inquired from the room, "Chuyi, whose call is that?"

Upon her mother's question, Xia Chuyi covered the receiver and responded loudly, "It's nothing, just some business matters."

Xia Chuyi opted for a deception.

The call from Guo Jiumin had instilled a sense of foreboding within her.

Her mother, Mrs. Ou, hearing the reply, called out again from the room, "Oh, well then, go ahead and take the call."

"After you finish the call, make sure you head out to the movies early," Mrs. Ou continued, adding, "and be sure to return home promptly as well."

"Yes, Mom, I understand," Xia Chuyi called back.

After responding to her mother, Xia Chuyi took another deep breath before uncovering the receiver.

"It is I, Mr. Guo. You called unexpectedly; is there something urgent?" Xia Chuyi inquired, suppressing her unease and compelling herself to speak in a composed manner to Guo Jiumin.

"Haha, nothing much," Guo Jiumin replied cheerfully from the other end. "I merely felt that after our previous conversation, Young Madam Huo and I had quite a good rapport, and I desired further interaction."

Guo Jiumin's statement seemed to carry an underlying implication.

"Interaction? That would likely disappoint Mr. Guo's well-intentioned offer," Xia Chuyi attempted to maintain a very calm tone. "I am currently at home with the child and do not really have the capacity for social engagements."

"Is that so?" Guo Jiumin continued cheerfully. "But is Young Madam Huo not planning to see a movie today?"

"Mr. Guo thought that perhaps, while Young Madam Huo is enjoying the film, we could engage in a meaningful conversation," Guo Jiumin proposed. "I am confident we share numerous 'common' interests."

As he spoke, Guo Jiumin deliberately emphasized the word 'common.'

"Common interests? Mr. Guo, while your generation, my generation, and Shiqian's generation share the same era, you bear a significantly greater age compared to us," Xia Chuyi retorted playfully. "Therefore, please accept my apologies, Mr. Guo, but I fear we do not have many commonalities."

"Haha, Young Madam Huo, are you truly that certain?" Guo Jiumin then inquired. "Young Madam Huo, if one possessed the ability to foresee the future... what do you believe should be done?"

On hearing this, Xia Chuyi paused, her hand still on the receiver.

"I do not quite grasp Mr. Guo's meaning," Xia Chuyi stated, her tone beginning to cool.

"Haha, whether Young Madam Huo understands or not is of little consequence," Guo Jiumin remarked. "I simply wished to ascertain if Young Madam Huo harbors any inclination to discuss this particular subject?"

"Naturally, if Young Madam Huo genuinely holds no interest, it is indeed regrettable, and I shall have to seek out another individual for discourse."

Guo Jiumin's words undeniably carried a veiled threat.

At this precise moment, Xia Chuyi was nearly convinced that Guo Jiumin possessed knowledge of something significant!

"Regarding this topic... I genuinely possess no interest," Xia Chuyi declared. "However, Mr. Guo is correct; I am indeed heading out to watch a movie today."

"Such a rare opportunity would surely be beneficial if I were to take the time to converse with Mr. Guo," Xia Chuyi's voice remained steady, yet a sharp glint appeared in her eyes.

"Hahaha, in that case, I... shall anticipate Young Madam Huo's arrival," Guo Jiumin's voice on the other end held a discernible trace of smug satisfaction.

A fleeting light flashed in Xia Chuyi's eyes as she responded, "Very well, then I shall look forward to a thorough discussion with you, Mr. Guo..."
