The director promised Xia Chuyi he would help investigate the matter further. Xia Chuyi returned home and decided not to tell her family about her suspicions that Guo Jiumin was the mastermind, instead telling them she was being pestered by her ex-fiancé He Qing. Her family became worried about her safety, with her father advising her to limit going out and her mother planning a temple visit. Xia Chuyi, however, grew more suspicious of Guo Jiumin and pondered if he knew her secret or had similar mysterious experiences, especially noting his involvement with Li Kexin's property project in G City.

Xia Chuyi was resolved to investigate Guo Jiumin's background thoroughly. Yet, she understood the need for subtlety, unable to be too overt in her inquiries. However, she harbored a suspicion that if Guo Jiumin harbored any hidden intentions, their paths would inevitably cross during her planned movie outing. And so, the day Xia Chuyi had set for the movie excursion arrived in the blink of an eye.

Just as she was preparing to leave, Xia Chuyi received an important phone call from the director. "Chuyi, I've looked into the matter you asked about," the director announced over the line. Xia Chuyi, feeling a surge of anticipation upon receiving the director's call, quickly inquired, "You did? What's the situation?"

"It's like this," the director replied, "the rumors seem to be predominantly circulating within your social circle. Strangely enough, however, people within the business community are discussing it far less..." The director continued, expressing a personal observation, "I'm not sure if it's just my impression, but it appears the individual spreading these rumors is solely focused on damaging your reputation within your immediate circle, yet they show no inclination to propagate these falsehoods on a broader scale."

A faint flicker crossed Xia Chuyi's eyes upon hearing the director's words. "I understand. Thank you, Director," she responded. The director's assessment essentially pointed to the conclusion that the other party didn't seem to possess a genuine intent to harm her. After concluding the call, Xia Chuyi fell into a deep contemplation, analyzing the situation in her mind: If the opposing party wasn't truly aiming to cause her harm, could it be interpreted that they saw her as a potentially profitable asset to exploit? Was the entire charade merely a tactic to 'pressure' her and eventually extract some form of benefit?

If this hypothesis held true, then Guo Jiumin might very well be the architect of these machinations. After all, excluding the prominent Ou and Huo families, the only truly exploitable aspect of Xia Chuyi was her well-kept secret of being reborn. Moreover, Guo Jiumin appeared to possess some knowledge concerning this very matter. Naturally, all of this remained within the realm of her speculation, lacking any concrete proof.

A person like Guo Jiumin was not someone Xia Chuyi could afford to doubt and act against so readily. Furthermore, the question of whether Guo Jiumin actually knew her secret remained uncertain. If the individual was unaware, then Xia Chuyi's theories would be entirely misguided. However, if the other party genuinely knew... then Xia Chuyi would need to exercise an even greater degree of caution. This, after all, concerned her most significant secret.

With this thought weighing on her, Xia Chuyi let out a soft sigh, pondering, "When will Uncle Liberation Army return?" She felt that with his presence, resolving this matter would be considerably simpler. After all, Huo Shiqian was also privy to some of her secrets. Yet, despite her longing for Huo Shiqian's return, it was apparent he could not come back any time soon.

Coincidentally, at that very moment, the telephone at her residence suddenly rang. "Hello, are you Huo Shizhang's wife?" Xia Chuyi answered the phone, and the caller directly posed the question. "Yes, I am. May I ask who is calling?" Xia Chuyi responded, her voice tinged with puzzlement. The caller then proceeded to introduce themselves, revealing that the call originated from the border camp where Huo Shiqian had been stationed. The voice on the other end seemed to belong to a member of the troop stationed at that particular camp.

Upon picking up the phone, Xia Chuyi felt a sense of unease. "Camp? Isn't Xiao Wang stationed at the camp?" she inquired, asking, "Is Xiao Wang not present?" "Yes, Camp Commander Wang is currently unavailable," the person on the line replied. "Madam, the reason for this call is to inform you that there has been an issue with Huo Shizhang's mission, and Camp Commander Wang has departed with a search party to find him."
