Previously on After Marrying the Officer...
Xia Chuyi and Ou Jun discuss their suspicion that someone is manipulating events, focusing on Zhao Chunxiao and a "stupid university student" as potential leads. After confirming Mother Xia is safe following a near-drowning incident, they go to the police. At the station, Mother Xia falsely accuses Xia Chuyi of pushing her, while the student claims Mr. Xia was responsible. The situation escalates when the student questions the police's instructions.

"Comrade officer, are you speaking up for certain people?" the imbecile uttered. "Hmph, you’re the People’s Police; you’re supposed to serve the people, not side with some powerful folks!"

As he spoke, the imbecile’s gaze kept flitting between Xia Chuyi and Ou Jun. The unspoken accusation was that Ou Jun and his companions were leveraging their authority to intimidate others.

Witnessing this, not only their subordinates but even the personnel from the Police Station were left utterly speechless.

"Hey, you there, classmate, don’t just spout nonsense the moment you open your mouth!" the officer admonished. "We’re merely carrying out a routine inquiry; how are we 'siding' with anyone like you claim?"

"Whether it’s the plaintiff or the defendant, we question them all the same here!" the officer attempted to clarify for the imbecile.

Who knew that upon hearing this, instead of comprehension, the imbecile adopted an even more 'righteous' demeanor and declared, "What is there to ask? The facts are right in front of you!"

"Look at this auntie; she’s so pitiful—would she really lie?"

The imbecile puffed out his chest further and bellowed, "Yeah, even if Auntie did something in the past, that’s all in the past. Auntie was able to raise this young lady here..."

The imbecile then looked towards Xia Chuyi and stated, "Auntie managed to raise this young lady, which clearly means she’s already turned over a new leaf."

"But this young lady, just one glance and you can tell she’s from a wealthy and influential background." the imbecile continued.

"And once a person has money and power, they turn their back on their foster mother—that’s downright morally corrupt!"

The imbecile asserted with absolute conviction, "And a person like that is capable of doing anything!"

"So there’s nothing to investigate in this matter; she’s obviously the one who pushed her!" Ultimately, the imbecile even directly extended his hand and pointed angrily at Xia Chuyi.

"Classmate, how can you say that?" Upon hearing the imbecile's self-righteous pronouncements, the officer handling the case frowned.

"When we handle a case, we must investigate meticulously and gather evidence precisely before we can arrive at a conclusion," the officer explained. "How can we arbitrarily judge the situation based solely on the two parties' economic status?"

"Evidence? The eyewitnesses are myself and Auntie, and the physical evidence is Auntie’s clothes after she was shoved into the water. With both witness and physical evidence, Comrade Officers, what more do you require to investigate?" the imbecile insisted.

At times, it felt like a scholar encountering a soldier: one couldn't make oneself understood even with all the logic in the world.

Thus, after being unreasonably badgered by the imbecile, even the officers were left somewhat at a loss for words.

At this juncture, Xia Chuyi finally stepped forward.

"So, your poverty makes you right, and my wealth makes me guilty?" Xia Chuyi gazed directly at the imbecile and stated calmly, "Just because you believe my family possesses money and influence, I must have done something wrong... Classmate, is that what you're implying?"

Hearing Xia Chuyi articulate it that way, the imbecile faltered for a moment before retorting, "The rich are heartless—isn't that generally how it is?"

He actually admitted it quite openly.

In response, Xia Chuyi shook her head and inquired, "So what you're saying is, regardless of what transpires, as long as one side has money and power, you can directly conclude that person is at fault?"

"This..." Vaguely sensing that something was amiss, the imbecile glanced at Xia Chuyi, hesitated, and offered no reply.

"Following your reasoning, classmate, we might as well discard all of the nation’s laws and regulations," Xia Chuyi declared, her tone growing even calmer. "From this point forward, whenever an incident occurs, we shall simply declare the wealthy party guilty."
