Xiao Jingqi goes to get help while Xia Chuyi hides and observes Xia Lianlian and Mother Xia meeting a man in work clothes. The man pushes Mother Xia into the lake and leaves with Xia Lianlian, who also abandons her mother, leaving Xia Chuyi to decide whether to intervene.

A life needed saving, and thus Xia Chuyi hurried directly towards the lake's edge.

Out on the water, Mother Xia had ceased her struggles and was beginning to descend beneath the surface.

Seeing this alarming sight, there was no time for hesitation; she prepared to shed her shoes and plunge in to effect the rescue.

"Ah! Help! Someone's fallen in!" Just then, from around a bend in the path, a male and female university student suddenly emerged and hurried over.

The male student, with remarkable speed and agility, actually entered the water before Xia Chuyi could and proceeded to save the drowning woman.

"Comrade, is this your mother?" The female student, who remained on the bank, immediately addressed Xia Chuyi. "Don't fret, my classmate is an excellent swimmer; he'll surely save your mom!"

Hearing the female student's words, Xia Chuyi paused, momentarily stunned, and was about to respond.

But before any words could leave her lips,

the male student had already adeptly brought the woman to safety.

However, by the time she was pulled from the water, she was no longer breathing.

"Th-this... what should we do now?" The male student had indeed brought her ashore, but faced with her current state, he seemed to freeze.

Fortunately, the female university student chimed in, "I know first aid!"

She then commenced administering CPR to Mother Xia.

Despite Mother Xia's frail condition, the girl's prompt intervention gradually restored her heartbeat.

"Get her to a hospital, quickly, to the hospital!" Once a pulse was re-established, the two university students urged.

The male student then lifted Mother Xia onto his back, preparing to carry her to the nearest medical facility.

Amidst this, the female student's voice reached Xia Chuyi: "Don't worry, I've already performed CPR on your mom; she'll definitely be alright!"

"She is not my mother," Xia Chuyi replied, shaking her head in response to the student.

Now that the immediate crisis was averted, Xia Chuyi felt a sense of calm.

"Huh? Not your mother?" The female student appeared taken aback. "I had presumed you two were mother and daughter..."

"So this woman slipped and fell in, and you were attempting to rescue her?" the girl inquired of Xia Chuyi.

Xia Chuyi offered a casual nod. "Something like that."

The girl seemed somewhat perplexed but did not press the issue further. She simply stated, "I understand, so you also just happened upon the scene, like us."

The female student continued, "Come to think of it, this lady is quite fortunate. This area rarely sees anyone. We two only happened to be here because we follow this route daily around this time. Otherwise, we wouldn't have noticed either."

Hearing this, Xia Chuyi observed the lettering on the girl's attire; indeed, it bore the emblem of a sports university.

So, they were students from a sports university? It was rather convenient, in fact, as having students with athletic backgrounds perform the rescue meant Xia Chuyi didn't need to jump into the water herself.

After all, Xia Chuyi was in the advanced stages of pregnancy, making it unsafe for her to get wet.

Furthermore, if she had risked herself for Mother Xia's sake, Xia Chuyi genuinely doubted she could adequately explain her actions to her own family.

It was a stroke of luck that these two university students had appeared when they did.

Yet, just as Xia Chuyi began to feel a sense of relief, Mother Xia, whose heartbeat had been restored, suddenly fluttered her eyes open.

And then, Mother Xia's gaze fell upon Xia Chuyi.

An overwhelming wave of terror instantly washed over Mother Xia.

While still being carried on the male student's back, Mother Xia began to thrash about violently.

"Y-you..." Mother Xia pointed a trembling finger directly at Xia Chuyi, her face contorted with panic.

"Auntie, please remain calm!" Seeing this reaction, the male student urgently said, "I am taking you to the hospital, right now!"

He likely assumed Mother Xia was reacting to the shock of falling into the water.

However, at that precise moment, Mother Xia's eyes were fixed solely on Xia Chuyi; she seemed completely oblivious to anyone else, her eyes widening in sheer terror.
