Xia Chuyi and Xiao Jingqi split from their escorts and decided to tail Xia Lianlian and Mother Xia. They followed them to a lakeside park, where Xia Lianlian argued with her mother. Mother Xia wanted to find her husband, but Xia Lianlian was dismissive, only seeming to keep her mother around for her own purposes. Xia Lianlian then led her mother to a specific spot, questioning if a plan could succeed by bringing her there, which Mother Xia overheard.

"Nothing," Xia Lian'er answered her mother dismissively, rolling her eyes. Her gaze, however, continued to dart around. Noticing her daughter's distraction, Mother Xia tugged at her arm. "Lian'er, what are we doing here?" she inquired, her voice laced with anxiety. "There's no one around, and this lake seems quite deep and perilous. We should depart." Xia Lian'er, hearing this, shook off her mother's hand. "Why are you overthinking things? I have matters to attend to here. Don't wander off!" Mother Xia was left speechless by her daughter's sharp retort. And so, Xia Lian'er continued her surveillance while Mother Xia fretted, the pair lingering by the lakeside for a considerable duration. "Given the current circumstances..." Since Xia Lian'er and her mother showed no signs of leaving, Xiao Jingqi turned to Xia Chuyi. "Chuyi, can you tell me what exactly Xia Lian'er and her mother are doing here?" Xiao Jingqi questioned, bewildered. "Are they waiting for someone? What should we do now?" Xia Chuyi considered the situation for a moment before responding to Xiao Jingqi. "Observing Xia Lian'er and her mother..." he began, his eyes fixed on them. "They are likely anticipating someone's arrival." A knowing glint appeared in Xia Chuyi's eyes as he added, "And it's probable that this person is connected to the individual orchestrating events from behind the scenes." "Is that so?" Xiao Jingqi's immediate reaction was, "Shouldn't we alert the captain right away?" Xia Chuyi gave a slight nod. "Indeed, we must find a way to inform my brother as swiftly as possible." Otherwise, by the time the others concluded their search elsewhere and came to find Xia Chuyi and Xiao Jingqi, Xia Lian'er and Mother Xia might have already met their contact. Consequently, Xia Chuyi and Xiao Jingqi would be left uncertain whether to pursue the shadowy figure or continue monitoring Xia Lian'er. Thus, their current predicament involved continuing to shadow Xia Lian'er and her mother. At this juncture, Xiao Jingqi expressed some hesitation. "Chuyi, look, they still haven't left..." she observed. "Why don't we go inform someone first?" she proposed. Xia Chuyi, however, shook his head. "If we depart now, there's no guarantee Xia Lian'er won't have met someone and departed during our absence." "Then what should we do?" Xiao Jingqi's brow furrowed in concern. After some thought, Xia Chuyi suggested, "Jingqi, how about this: I'll remain here to keep an eye on them, and you go inform my brother." Xiao Jingqi immediately protested, "Ah, how can that be acceptable? I can't possibly leave you!" Her tone was filled with hesitation, clearly against the plan. "The captain instructed me to accompany you and ensure your safety..." Xia Chuyi, maintaining a calm demeanor, reassured her. "Do not worry, nothing untoward will occur." "Observe," Xia Chuyi continued, gesturing towards the mother and daughter, "Only Xia Lian'er and Mother Xia are present. Before the other party arrives, there won't be any immediate danger." He added calmly, "And if the target does appear, rest assured, I will not recklessly endanger myself. If you are still concerned, you may stay here, and I will undertake the task of informing my brother." Hearing this, Xiao Jingqi's frown deepened. "This..." she murmured. In reality, whether she stayed or Xia Chuyi stayed, a separation was inevitable. Furthermore, if Xia Chuyi were to go and deliver the message, given his speed, he would undoubtedly be unable to catch up to Xiao Jingqi.
