Xia Chuyi confronts Xia Lianlian after uncovering her true motive: seizing control of the Youwei brand. Xia Lianlian attempts to justify her actions by claiming the business rightfully belongs to the second family and demands franchise fees. Xia Chuyi shuts down these claims by clarifying that the brand is legally registered in her name, leaving the store property and brand rights distinct and firmly under her control.

Chapter 1186: Confrontation

“What did you say? You filed for that trademark long ago?” Xia Lianlian’s temper flared upon hearing Xia Chuyi’s revelation. She jabbed a finger at her cousin and spat, “Xia Chuyi, you are absolutely despicable!”

Even Uncle Xia found her behavior intolerable. He stepped between them to shield Xia Chuyi, retorting, “Is that any way to speak to someone?”

“It is Chuyi’s own business and her own trademark. What fault is there in her registering it?” Uncle Xia demanded heatedly. “When you arrived in Ling County, I honestly believed you had developed some remorse and were finally valuing our family ties again…”

“But in the end…” Observing Xia Lianlian’s twisted expression, deep sorrow filled Uncle Xia’s gaze. “You only came here to covet Chuyi’s ‘Youwei’ trademark. I truly misjudged you!”

The betrayal weighed heavily on Uncle Xia’s heart.

Xia Lianlian, however, refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing. “How can you possibly blame me? Xia Chuyi is the one who has no regard for family!”

“If not for her, would I have been cast out of the Ou family?” she cried out with lingering resentment. “If she hadn't interfered, would I have been left penniless, forced to marry Wang He and crawl before his family like a servant?”

Her bitterness boiled over as she continued, “And as for you all, I only requested one simple favor—a single franchise slot—yet why did you refuse me?”

“Let’s be honest, in your hearts, I have never compared to her, have I?” A sardonic smile played on her lips as she dropped the pretense of being a meek relative.

“If you prefer her so much, why did you even bother coming to me?” Xia Lianlian sneered. “You could have just pretended I was dead.”

“Hmph, ultimately, you are only interested in securing a bloodline for Xia Chenggui. Whether that descendant lives a good life or not is of no concern to you!”

“Sorry, but if you don’t care, neither do I!”

Realizing her scheme had failed, Xia Lianlian abandoned all decorum. “Take this pathetic martyr’s child title and give it to whoever wants it! I couldn’t care less!”

“You!” Uncle Xia was stunned into silence, his hand trembling as he pointed at her, completely unable to articulate his rage.

Even Aunt Xia stood nearby, utterly speechless at the display.

Who could possess such a lack of shame?

For the first time, Aunt Xia saw the woman’s true colors clearly.

Overcome with fury, Uncle Xia finally exploded. He gestured toward the door, shouting, “Fine! Since you clearly couldn’t care less, leave—get out of here right now!”

“Hmph, I am leaving. Do you honestly think I care to stay?” With a cold snort, Xia Lianlian whirled around and stormed out of the house.

Once she had vanished, the house felt heavy, and Uncle Xia appeared deeply drained.

“Chuyi, this is all my fault,” he said, his voice thick with regret.

Xia Chuyi offered a gentle shake of her head. “Uncle, none of this is your burden to carry.”

“It’s just Xia Lianlian…” She paused, stopping herself from adding more. “As long as she doesn't succeed with her schemes, let us leave it at that.”

Uncle Xia let out a heavy sigh, offering no further rebuttal.

Aunt Xia chimed in firmly, “Listen to Chuyi. We are never speaking of this again!”

“From this day forward, we will treat Xia Lianlian as if she does not exist,” she told her husband. “As for your brother-in-law’s bloodline… Chengzong has already been officially adopted into the second branch.”

“From now on, he serves as the only representative of that bloodline!”
