A Hospital in Another World? Chapter 1098: Garrett's Emerald Dream
Previously on A Hospital in Another World?...
"Emerald Dream... it is the convergence of nature's spirituality, floating above the material realm, overlapping with it to a certain extent. It is a reflection of the world before it was altered by intelligent beings..."
Garrett expressed his desire to learn about the Emerald Dream, and Anari Linga had no objection to teaching him a bit. In fact, regarding Garrett's studies, Elder Fahim had already discussed it with her disciple, making his attitude very clear:
"Teach Garrett whatever he wants to learn, as long as it matches his current level and academic ability. The child has half-elf blood, after all. Even if he doesn’t become an elf, it would still be beneficial for him to lean more towards us."
"I understand, Teacher," Anari Linga nodded without hesitation.
"And Garrett is so generous. He shares his own original spells freely, giving away papers and lessons without reservation. We can't be stingy in return! Rest assured, Teacher, whatever he wants to learn, if you're not available, I'll definitely teach him!"
Anari Linga soon regretted her words. Elder Fahim, holding his wooden staff, had fallen into meditation, leaving her with the responsibility of instructing Garrett. However, this task wasn't as easy as she had imagined...
"Entering the Emerald Dream is simple. Meditate, expand your consciousness, and resonate with nature. Then, ascend with nature’s spirituality. As you ascend, you will see the original form of nature. Come, try it..."
Following her guidance, Garrett slowly sank into meditation. He expanded his mental energy, resonated with nature, feeling the ancient trees, forests, and grass around him...
Then, ascend, ascend?
Garrett attempted to elevate his perspective, much like during his previous advancements, letting the world’s will carry him upward. As he rose, he saw a few scattered lights below:
So few...
One big star, another big star, yet another big star... one after another...
It looked like the pitiful few stars a near-sighted person might see in a heavily light-polluted environment. The brightness was there, but the number was tragically scarce.
It was nothing like the sea of light he had seen during meditation in Nevis!
"You're doing it wrong! Start over!"
In the midst of his spirituality, Anari Linga's stern voice suddenly interrupted. Garrett was startled out of his meditative state, opening his eyes to see Anari Linga's delicate eyebrows knitted into a small knot:
"That's not it! Your goal is to find nature's original form, not to elevate your spirituality as much as possible!"
Garrett was confused, but since Linga said he was wrong, he could only start over. The second time, he expanded his mental energy, communicated with the surrounding nature, and let his spirituality gradually rise. As he ascended, he kept silently chanting:
"The original form... the original form... nature’s original form..."
Bright green light unfolded before his eyes. Densely packed, covering the sky. Massive, one could even say spectacular leaves, each as tall as several people, intertwining and blocking the sky above Garrett.
From a distance, the earth-shattering roar of a beast echoed. Garrett looked in the direction of the sound and saw a dragon beast the size of Cirilla’s original form, leisurely moving through the greenery, lowering its head to tear off a large bunch of leaves...
A fierce tiger, twice as tall as Garrett at the shoulder, opened its huge mouth, its long fangs plunging into the dragon beast, tearing off a large chunk of flesh...
A giant snake, as thick as a tree trunk, spread its wings that blotted out the sky and swooped down into the forest...
"Garrett! Garrett!"
A stern shout rolled across the sky like thunder. The heavens trembled, clouds and mist roiled, and the green leaves around him fell one by one, plants toppled row by row, fierce beasts fled, and the giant snake disintegrated. Garrett’s heart tightened, and he abruptly opened his eyes:
"Garrett! You made a mistake in your meditation!—Don’t lose yourself to the wild!"
Garrett: "..."
I don't think I lost myself to the wild... I think I might have lost myself to the Cretaceous period...
After two consecutive failures, Anari Linga didn't dare let Garrett meditate on his own anymore. With no other option, she took stock of her supplies and found the standard set of three items used to cultivate young elves and guide them into the Emerald Dream:
A medicinal bath solution, a potion to drink, and a magic array for meditation support.
She began extracting, grinding, and soaking. Since Garrett was an adult, unlike those half-grown teenagers, children, or even young elves, the dosage had to be increased several times:
She pulled out a heavy, sturdy wooden bathtub, made entirely of solid green wood, which emitted a faint fragrance the moment it was placed down. Its size was such that Garrett could stand straight in it without any issue.
Rolling up her sleeves, she first poured in half a barrel of thick tree sap, then added various potions, powders, fruits, and even the fresh blood of magical beasts, stirring continuously.
The thick tree sap gradually became clear as water. Cirilla curiously approached and touched it, immediately withdrawing her hand:
"So cold! What is this..."
"It's for soaking. Soak in it, then drink the special potion, which helps in entering the Emerald Dream under magical guidance." Anari Linga continued her work, preparing the potion and drawing the magic array.
Magic powder, magic ink, beast blood, mercury, and various materials flew into the air under her hands, forming a massive magic array. Finally, with a wave of her hand, the bathtub floated into the air and landed in the center of the magic array:
"Get in!"
"Do I need to take off my clothes?" Garrett looked left and right, deciding that if he had to undress, he’d cast an invisibility spell on himself first...
No, invisibility isn’t reliable—Cirilla’s eyes can see through a lot of invisibility. Maybe a mist spell would be better? Or create an ice wall for physical coverage?
"You just need to change into something light and close-fitting... No, wait! Wear this!" Anari Linga tossed him a robe:
"This fabric is naturally attuned, so it won’t hinder the magical assistance!"
Garrett obediently changed clothes, climbed into the bathtub, and drank the potion Anari Linga handed him—ignoring the burning sensation in his throat. Hugging his knees, he sat in the tub, listening to Linga’s powerful chanting, slowly sinking into meditation.
The potion's power invigorated his spirit.
Around him, the magic array, incense, and even the potion in the wooden tub, created an invisible whirlwind belonging to the spirit world that swirled around Garrett.
The environment, atmosphere, and magic—everything pushed his spirituality to open up to nature, connecting to that ancient world belonging to the collective dreams of nature’s servants...
"......"
"......"
"......"
"Garrett!!"
Anari Linga was furious. Despite her guidance and all the prepared conditions, Garrett had stopped meditating and started sleeping!
If sleeping was all he did, that would be fine, but he was also absorbing all the precious liquid in the tub, along with all the magical energy, as if he were a whale swallowing water!
