The Sky Knight Adrian Lopez was lured into a trap, facing off against a silver dragon and its allies. Despite his powerful armor and divine magic, Adrian was overwhelmed by a combination of dragon attacks, electrical discharges from eels, and an unexpected assault from an elf shapeshifter. As he struggled, Garrett amplified the electric eels' attack, striking Adrian with a powerful bolt of lightning while the dragon continued its assault.

"The Plague Lord... The Plague Lord..."

Aishe Moon Song lay in the thick grass, licking the fur on her paws, her tail thumping against the ground.

She had followed the group of slaves all the way to the vicinity of the research institute. The slaves entered one by one, but Aishe Moon Song didn't dare approach. She crouched in the grass from a distance of about a mile.

From her viewpoint, the intense aura of death emanating from the research institute was like a blazing torch to an elf so attuned to nature.

Moreover, the aura continuously scanned in circles. Several times, the unique waves of energy swept over her.

If the research institute hadn't been located in a crater, with the mountain walls concealing her, she wouldn't have dared to get this close.

If not for nature's protection, and if she hadn't transformed into a tiger cat to reduce her presence, she would have been discovered by now...

"How should I investigate?" Aishe Moon Song pondered as she licked her right paw after finishing with her left.

"Should I charge in directly, grab the person, and leave? I can't win in a head-on fight. The people inside are too powerful, and they have an entire mage tower as a backup."

"Maybe I could sneak in as a small animal to look around? Too dangerous. If the mage tower detects me, a small animal has no combat ability."

"Or, I could try to communicate with the plants inside?"

She lay on the ground, ears flattened, her cheek pressed tightly to the earth. She closed her eyes, her mental energy extending from the meadow around her, slowly spreading outward.

"No, it won't work!"

The elf ranger irritably scraped the ground. In her tiger cat form, it was not the most convenient shape for communicating with plants. The alpine meadow wasn't her familiar rainforest.

Not to mention, there were hardly any plants inside the research institute.

The buildings and squares were all solid stone, leaving no room for plants to grow.

Even the ditches and the base of the walls were devoid of moss.

"Damn human mages! Damn mage towers!" Aishe Moon Song muttered sullenly.

"They only know how to use 'Transmute Rock to Mud' and 'Transmute Mud to Rock' to build their structures. They have no appreciation for the beauty of nature! Using a mother tree as a mage tower would be so much better..."

However, complaining wouldn't change anything. Without plants or small animals, nature's children were effectively blindfolded and deafened.

Asking the animals? Aishe Moon Song tried communicating with the nearby creatures but found all the insects, reptiles, and venomous snakes and ants avoided the place.

"It's terrifying! Terrifying! Terrifying!" said a bird pecking in the meadow.

"There's death! So much death! Every day there's death! Don't go there!"

Gritting her teeth, Aishe Moon Song transformed into a red hawk, taking to the sky. She soared up, circled, then swooped low over the crater's rim.

Inside the research institute, the presence of death was unmistakable. Naive, pure, innocent, vast swathes mixed with cold pain and resentment.

So many!

Especially in the central area, the aura of death was particularly concentrated and distinct. Among it, dozens of lively auras moved, blending harmoniously with the pervasive death.

No doubt, it was those necromancers!

Aishe Moon Song snorted internally. In the center of the institute, Archmage Haines suddenly looked up, his eyes sharp as lightning, scanning upwards.

"Who?!"

"What?" Garrett looked at him in confusion. He also looked up, expanded his mental energy...

Nothing!

The ceiling was clean, and beyond that, there was nothing but empty space. No birds, no plants, not even bird droppings. When building the institute, everything had been cleaned too thoroughly—no plants, no insects, no mice. Why would a bird come here?

"Never mind." Seeing this, Archmage Haines exhaled and waved his hand.

"It seemed like something was spying just now... But it's not the Radiant Church or the Serpent God. Maybe it was a passing Golden Eagle Warrior? Anyway, we’re not afraid, let it be..."

Garrett shrugged and returned to his research discussion with the archmage. Above, Aishe Moon Song flew swiftly past, recalling the sensations from moments ago.

In the right wing of the institute, many life forces were concentrated, strong and weak, each giving her a feeling of oppression and stagnation.

Were these the prisoners of war? Were these the people Tupac had asked her to rescue?

Aishe Moon Song soared over the crater, flying far out. To avoid detection, she dove down a long slope, then flew over another mountain before landing. Perched on a treetop, she pondered.

What was that pure, vibrant aura in the crater?

Could it be natural energy?

Was there one of her kin inside?

Or other humans who revered nature?

How could nature's children be mixed up with those necromancers?

Were they tempted, coerced, or even imprisoned inside, their power being extracted for some evil purpose?

The red hawk hopped from branch to branch, finding no clues. After a while, she jumped to the ground, transforming into a leopard. With her body low, she sprinted away like the wind.

The leopard form was her usual shape for patrolling the forest. As a leopard, she ran like the wind, appearing as a grayish-yellow blur to any distant observers.

"I’ll go to the city below to gather information..." Aishe Moon Song thought as she ran.

"I’ve been to the Eagle God’s Kingdom before. There were no necromancers back then. Where did these people come from? What are they planning to do here? I need to find out..."

"Such a large building, such a large mage tower, it didn’t just fall from the sky... I’ll find out something in the city... I can’t believe those people on the mountain don’t rely on supplies from below..."

The wind whistled past her ears as Aishe Moon Song ran at full speed. Soon, she reached the lake at the foot of the mountain. She plunged into the reeds, shaking her wet fur vigorously, scattering water droplets like rain.

In a moment, the reeds rustled, and a green-haired, spirited elf woman stood up. She quickly surveyed her surroundings and cast a spell.

A wave of magical energy enveloped her like flowing water, and moments later, the tall, dignified elf warrior by the water had transformed into an inconspicuous native woman. She frowned slightly, looking down at the water.

"And that Plague Lord... Just hearing the name, it sounds like someone in charge... Maybe that powerful mental force that scanned just now was from the Plague Lord..."

"I must investigate thoroughly. With such a strong aura of death, who knows what the Plague Lord might do... If they start a plague and turn the entire Eagle God’s Kingdom into a wasteland..."
